00:00Travis Hunter for the Jacksonville Jaguars,
00:02who they traded up to number two to bring into their building,
00:06play on both sides of the football.
00:08Did do that a little bit.
00:09More wide receiver than DB.
00:12Finished this game with six receptions on eight targets.
00:15Just 33 yards.
00:17A weird game.
00:18One I know you followed very closely.
00:20The weather delay may be impacted.
00:23But Travis Hunter, offensive rookie of the year,
00:26defensive rookie of the year,
00:27what stood out to you from game number one?
00:30He got involved in the offense.
00:31And I told you in the pregame when you and I covered it,
00:34that I thought he was utilized to take away double teams from Brian Thomas.
00:38Now, obviously, an hour and 16-minute rain delay doesn't help that type of
00:44situation in terms of continuity.
00:46And it was an ugly type of game.
00:48But six receptions, he got involved in the offense.
00:50Short to intermediate throws.
00:52They relied on the rushing attack with Travis Etienne.
00:55I think that was the biggest takeaway.
00:56He looked fantastic, like he came out of Clemson yesterday,
01:00as opposed to, you know, five seasons ago.
01:03I mean, you know, there were thoughts that Travis Etienne would be on his way out.
01:07But Travis Hunter, I think, will get more acclimated
01:10and be utilized more in this offense as the season progresses.
01:14And they'll start opening it up.
01:16Again, the game plan was very interesting.
01:19It was run first, short to intermediate throws.
01:22We didn't see Trevor Lawrence take a whole lot of deep shots.
01:26Once the game started to get a little continuity, they shut it down for about an hour.
01:30And that hurt everything for the offense.
01:32Right.
01:32They were playing from in front the entire way, which isn't the projected game script,
01:37which leads me to say this.
01:39I spent a lot of the summer, despite being, you know, this is a big Travis Hunter guy,
01:44saying he has no chance for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
01:46Now you believe it.
01:48Joe, I'm looking at it now.
01:50I think he's going to finish with 100 receptions.
01:51It's possible.
01:52It's possible.
01:53You listen to, you know, it's 5.9 per game.
01:56So we'll call it six a game to get 100 receptions.
01:59They are going to continually screen, screen, screen.
02:03He's not every game.
02:04He starts with two catches, in my estimation.
02:06I think that is such a big piece of it.
02:09I also still believe that this is a vulnerable market because we only have one starting quarterback.
02:14And I'm not saying it's his fault.
02:15It was a nightmarish spot.
02:17But Cam Ward, Joe, I don't think this is an overreaction.
02:21Cam Ward is not winning Offensive Rookie of the Year this year.
02:26We saw it.
02:27112 passing yards against the Titans in week number one.
02:29And I'll take it a step further.
02:32They're not getting to their win total of five wins.
02:34Okay.
02:35I just – and Cam Ward is a product of the talent around him.
02:39Cam Ward is a much better quarterback.
02:41I don't think – you know, he's a bust by any means.
02:43Okay.
02:44Okay.
02:4512 for 28 for basically 112 yards.
02:48That's a product of the lack of wide receiver explosiveness that they have on the outside.
02:53We talked about it all offseason.
02:55They need legitimate number ones.
02:57And I keep saying when we talk about Jaden Daniels and we talk about all the young quarterbacks, how they put talent around them to see if they could develop just the way they did Jalen Hurts during the early part of his career with A.J. Brown and Devontae Smith.
03:12He's not going to get it done with Tony Pollard leading all wide receivers, right?
03:17You know, Calvin Ridley can't be your number one at this point in his career.
03:22He's definitely productive.
03:24But he's not Justin Jefferson.
03:26He's not Jamar Chase.
03:27And I'll go through the list.
03:29He's not one of those big guys from LSU.
03:33You know what I mean?
03:34But that is the problem, Marvin Harrison Jr.
03:37How about that?
03:38But that is where I think Cam Ward is handcuffed.
03:41And Callahan is not this great offensive mind now in two years.
03:46Couldn't certainly coach up Will Levis and that quarterback room when he had it.
03:52So, this is the problem now.
03:54It's a similar situation with Cam Ward to what Caleb Williams had with Eberflush.
04:00You know, he's dead man walking.
04:01You know, hopefully they can get somebody else in there that can coach him up.
04:05I will say, week one on the road against the Broncos, tough of a spot.
04:08I understand that.
04:09You're going to ask for.
04:10I just don't think, to play the quarterback position, right?
04:14In this market, I think you're going to need wins.
04:16And I agree with you from a win perspective.
04:18Risers in this market, Mekkegabuka, multiple pass, receiving touchdowns against Atlanta.
04:23Tyler Warren had a big day for Indianapolis.
04:25They're all still chasing the favorite, Ashton Gentry.
04:28Not a monster day.
04:29Found the end zone.
04:31Maybe more importantly, though, Joe, and you were on it.
04:34The Raiders did pull a slight upset on the road against the Pats.
04:38That was all Pete Carroll.
04:39And again, you know, the offensive game plan at the end of the day was Geno Smith chucking it for 362 yards.
04:46But for Ashton Gentry, he was the workhorse.
04:4919 carries, 38 yards, average two yards per carry.
04:53But again, they fed him, and that hopefully comes as the offensive line gels throughout the regular season.
04:59As long as you have above-average competent quarterback play, the rushing attack will open up later in the year.
05:04So he's going to be there.
05:05But Pete Carroll coaches up players as opposed to Mike Vrabel that we handed a Super Bowl that I didn't know that, you know, all of a sudden Patriots 10-win football team.
05:14Ah, listen, long season, they got the Dolphins next week.
