00:00I bought a condo in a four-unit building, top floor, bottom floor design with a shared roof
00:05and sprinkler system, etc. The unit was less than three years old, fully furnished,
00:12not Disney crazy furnished. The previous owners had a key code lock installed. I tried to get it
00:19released, but they did not reply to the email requesting it. Yale managed, so I replaced the
00:26lock, among other things. I installed an alarm system, Ring, which is monitored. I just got a
00:33violation from the HOA because I changed the lock and they do not have access to my condo. I read the
00:40HOA bylaws, including the section below, and it states that if I change a lock, I must provide keys
00:48or an access code for them to enter my unit. It further states that they will not enter the unit
00:55without prior permission, unless it is an emergency, in which case three or fewer hours notice is
01:02required. I emailed them back, saying I was fine in providing an access code to be used in emergencies
01:09only, but for non-emergency access, they can contact me first and I can generate a temporary code for
01:17access, so I can turn of the alarm remotely.
