06:54And the dry paint colour needs to be mixed with wet things like water to help it move around and
06:59stick to the paper.
07:00And then when the water dries, the colour is left behind.
07:04We found out earlier that felt tip pens contain a tiny bit of water and they also contain a special
07:11chemical that helps the colour to dry really quickly.
07:14And I have some of the special chemical here.
07:17Now, watch this.
07:19So, I'm just going to dip some cotton wool into some water and spread the water here.
07:28And now I'll do the same with a special chemical.
07:37I wonder what's going to happen.
07:40So, what's happened?
07:41The chemical's gone, but the water's still there.
07:44That's right.
07:45And because the chemical is in felt tip pens, pictures drawn with felt tip pens dry really quickly.
07:51So, if pens dry faster than paint, which would you rather use to colour a picture in with?

12:01Water is much better because it keeps the paint wet long enough to move around the paper.

12:14We discovered that the colours used in paint would be too dry and powdery to paint without water.
12:21Felt tip pens are good for colouring in small pictures because they have a special chemical
12:26in them that makes them dry really quickly.
12:28But if you want to colour in a big area, the water in paint lets you spread the colour quickly
12:34and easily.
12:35So, although we have to wait for the water to dry, it's worth it to make such lovely,
12:40big, colourful pictures.
