00:00Thailand's new Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, received a royal endorsement by King Maha
00:13Vajiralongkorn on Sunday, two days after Anutin breezed through a parliamentary vote, trouncing
00:19the candidate of the Shinawatra family's once-dominant ruling party to end a week of
00:24chaos and political deadlock.
00:26Anutin got down on his knees and paid homage to a portrait of the king at the Bhumjaitai
00:31Party's headquarters, before paying respects to his family in attendance.
00:35The political crisis was triggered in June by Anutin's withdrawal from Fyutai's alliance,
00:41followed by last week's dismissal by a Thai court of Prime Minister Peitongtarn Shinawatra,
00:46Thaksin's daughter and protege.
00:48Anutin, a conservative with a pull across party lines, won power after forging a pact with
00:54the Progressive Opposition People's Party, the largest force in parliament, obtaining
00:59its support with promises to hold a referendum on amending the constitution and call an election
01:05within four months.
01:07He urged unity, saying all sides had to work together to move our country forward in the
01:13speed that could compensate the opportunities that were lost and that the government would
01:17strictly enforce the law.
