Thousands of protesters poured into Washington, D.C., marching from Meridian Hill Park to Freedom Plaza, demanding the withdrawal of National Guard troops deployed under Trump’s federal takeover. Chants of 'Free D.C.' and banners against occupation echoed near the White House, as activists called for home rule, civil rights, and an end to militarized policing in the capital.

00:56So I'm here because I'm disgusted with what's going on in our city, and we're a group of
01:17social workers really working really hard to bring peace and strength to families and
01:22to kids and to immigrants. And we feel like the whole city is being undermined. We don't
01:27want this. We don't need this. We want to tell them to get out of our city. We got this.
01:31We're here because we care about our families and what's happening in neighborhoods across
01:35the nation. We're social workers united for justice, and we're social workers united for
01:40mental health and health, for the well-being of all of our communities. And what we're
01:43seeing coming from D.C. is not representative of who we are as a country. We're a country
01:48who is in it together to protect our families and the well-being of all around us.
01:53Oh, I'm here to protest the occupation of D.C. We need a free D.C. D.C. needs to be a state.
02:00It needs to be the 51st state here in the union.
02:02I'm a D.C. resident. I'm a D.C. P.S. teacher. I'm seeing the effects on my community. My students
02:09are terrified to come to school. My students' families are afraid to leave their house because
02:14it's a place. And nobody should have to live like this. D.C. does not want this. And it's
02:19time for the police occupation to end.
