00:00From a windstorm in southern China that lashed this office building, and a freak dust storm in
00:05Myanmar that ruined a music festival, to window cleaners in Beijing who were blown around like
00:11wind chimes, and a massive sand wall that blacked out an entire Chinese city, here are the scariest
00:18storm moments caught on camera.
00:28In the early morning hours of Mother's Day of 2014, a line of severe thunderstorms developed
00:34near the Nebraska-Kansas border.
00:36The storm line shifted north, dropping large hailstones and heavy rain on parts of York,
00:42Fillmore, and Clay counties.
00:44According to the National Weather Service, eight tornadoes spawned from this storm system.
00:50One group of storm chasers was stationed near McCool Junction, Nebraska, when they spotted
00:55one of those tornadoes on the horizon.
00:57They hopped in their van to film it, but wound up getting too close for comfort.
01:14We're gonna have to, we're gonna have to let it go.
01:15We gotta let it go, we gotta let it go.
01:16We gotta let it go.
01:17We gotta let it go, guys.

01:24Oh boy!
01:25I can't see you.
01:30You guys okay?
01:32Here's what that looked like from inside their storm chasing van.
01:35We should just let it go.
01:36We're gonna have to, we're gonna have to let it go, we're gonna have to let it go.
01:42We gotta let it go, we gotta let it go.
01:44We gotta let it go, guys.
01:45Crack up!
01:46Turn it to the wind!
01:47Turn it to the wind!

01:49Oh boy!
01:50You guys okay?
01:51Yeah.
01:52Everybody okay?
01:53I think I just almost peed my pants.
02:05Thankfully, everyone inside was okay.
02:07The storm chasers were lucky that the sprinkler system didn't shatter the glass and strike
02:12someone inside the car.
02:14According to our driver, George Coronas, he tried turning into the wind because the tornado
02:19was pushing them around like crazy.
02:22We're guessing George wasn't the only one in that van to almost pee their pants.
02:29On June 16th of 2020, hot air balloon enthusiasts in Krakow, Poland gathered in a field outside
02:36the city for an event.
02:37But what was supposed to be a fun balloon-watching day quickly turned into a nightmare when a freak
02:44windstorm threatened everyone on the grounds.
02:47They abandoned their seats and took shelter under nearby umbrellas.
02:51All they could do was watch in horror as one of the balloons spun out of control and eventually
02:57popped.

03:24Those in attendance said a lamp post had fallen over in the wind.
03:39We believe the balloon blew down and struck the lamp, causing it to pop.
03:44The balloon in question, Dobra Atmosfera, Bulgarian for good atmosphere, can carry 30
03:49people up over 900 feet to observe the Krakow skyline.
03:57High-rise window cleaning is a dangerous gig.
04:00In 1930s New York City, it was said that one in every 200 window cleaners lost their lives
04:07each year.
04:08We've come a long way since then.
04:10Modern window cleaning isn't nearly as dangerous as it was 100 years ago.
04:15These workers in Beijing, China may beg to differ.
04:18It was May 30th of 2024.
04:21The China Central Television, or CCTV tower, was due for its annual cleaning.
04:26The 51-story skyscraper is among the largest office buildings in the world, meaning it's
04:32not the easiest to clean.
04:34Add a freak windstorm into the mix, and you're looking at one of the scariest work-related
04:39incidents you'll ever see.

05:20Look, they're dangerous.
05:24They're not dangerous.

05:28They're not dangerous.
05:30They're not dangerous.
05:32Sometimes,
05:34people are not self-conscious.
05:36Thankfully, all the workers went home safely with two feet planted on the ground.
05:43It seems like the windstorm happened without warning, or else they would have cancelled
05:47the job.
05:48The Beijing Meteorological Observatory ultimately issued a blue wind warning.
05:53These workers probably would have appreciated the heads up before they started cleaning.
06:02Tornadoes are rare in India.
06:03Between 1903 and 2010, the region reported only 15 such storms.
06:09Twelve occurred between 1975 and 2012, averaging about three tornadoes each year.
06:16So when one strikes, it surprises the whole country.
06:20On March 31st of 2024, one of those rare Indian twisters touched down in the West Bengal city
06:27of Jalpaiguri.
06:28Those living in its path could only watch in horror as the tornado destroyed everything
06:34in sight.
06:40It was dead right here for COVID-19.
06:47I'm meeting you right now.
06:52This is a question for itומaspionable displayying.
06:56When it was over, the small village on the outskirts of Jalpaiguri was unrecognizable.
07:23Upwards of 170 were hurt, and 200 more were rushed to nearby hospitals.
07:30Because tornadoes are so rare in India, many locals didn't have the infrastructure or
07:34training to keep themselves safe.
07:37One said the storm came from nowhere before destroying their home.
07:42Looking at the mangled mess, they didn't know where to start or if it could ever be
07:47rebuilt.
07:48The storm also brought hail and intense rain to the area.
07:52If your home wasn't blown away, it was likely flooded or damaged by falling ice chunks.
08:01On July 17th of 2023, Typhoon Tallum became the first storm to make landfall during the
08:072023 tropical cyclone season.
08:10It triggered flood and heavy wind warnings across southern China.
08:14Hundreds of flights were grounded or cancelled, and many people were ordered to stay home.
08:19While Tallum's direct effects were felt near the coast, inland cities like Zhegong and
08:24Sichuan province still saw their fair share of wind and rain.
08:28Based on this footage, you might think the Typhoon was right on top of this car dealership.

09:29Despite the widespread damage, Chinese officials claim nobody was hurt during the storm.
09:35The people inside the car dealership were lucky that most of the windows remained intact.
09:40Some of them are standing way too close for the sake of a good video.
09:44Chinese weather experts said Typhoon Talim brought 93-mile-per-hour winds
09:49and upwards of 11 inches of rain to coastal cities like Hong Kong.
09:53People also saw what they described as violent 20- to 30-foot waves lashing over the sea walls.
10:04Hailstones can fall anywhere from 9 to 100 miles per hour.
10:09It all depends on the size.
10:11You could expect something the size of an egg to fall somewhere between 25 and 40 miles per hour.
10:17That's what these drivers in Yiwu City, China had to deal with on March 25th of 2024.
10:23According to local weather experts, temperatures in southern Zhejiang province hovered around 86 degrees Fahrenheit that afternoon,
10:30which was unusually warm for the time of year.
10:33Apparently, it was enough to thaw whatever was frozen in the clouds.
10:38Before facing this, all at least two dis are fired.

10:51They immediately took edition of themas.

11:02Look at Yiwu, it fell out of everything!
11:04Oh, see what it is about?
11:06You should know how many people are doing this.
11:20What are you doing here?
11:22The big thing is broken.
11:24The big thing is broken.
11:26The big thing is broken.
11:28The big thing is broken.
11:30The whole thing is broken.
11:32The car is broken.
11:34The local weather office issued a red alert as the storm moved in.
11:43If it wasn't obvious, red alert is the highest level in the region's color-coded warning system.
11:49Many people recorded the incident and reported egg and golf ball-sized hail falling on their homes and cars.
11:56Once the hail storm was over, local insurance companies reported over 9,000 claims for damaged vehicles.
12:03Based on rough estimates, the storm likely caused more than 100 million yuan, or about $13.6 million in damages.
12:16Hami, China is a prefecture-level city of 673,000 people in Xinjiang province.
12:23Since the Han Dynasty, it's been a steady supplier of agricultural products and raw resources.
12:29Citywide sandstorms probably aren't healthy for their crops.
12:33On July 2nd of 2023, locals in Hami watched in amazement as a massive wall of dust and sand blanketed the city.
12:43How would you react if you saw this coming over the horizon?
12:47I don't want to call you.
12:57Let's go!
13:03According to local reports, the wall was nearly 1,000 feet high. It caused buildings to vanish
13:22and plunged parts of Hami into complete darkness. The storm persisted for about 90 minutes before
13:29dissipating, leaving most of Hami covered in dust and sand. It likely came off the Hami Desert,
13:35which is part of the vast Gobi Desert in Xinjiang, China.
13:41When Spain arrived in the Philippines in the late 16th century, the province of Pampanga
13:46on Luzon Island became one of their first official states. Today, it's home to about 2.4 million
13:53people living along the northern shore of Manila Bay. When it comes to destructive cyclones,
13:58typhoons are typically at the top of their list. That changed in June of 2023 when this powerful
14:05tornado touched down south of the provincial capital of San Fernando. According to reports,
14:11it was the first time anybody in Pampanga had seen such an event. Naturally,
14:16they pulled out their phones and started recording.
14:28in the upper 50 million times. Then we're at the top of the city.
14:30and they pulled out their phones by 16.5 million times.
14:31So we should be able to see that there are no lines.

14:37There's an island coming up.

15:24The storm left a trail of destruction as it tore through neighborhoods in the municipality
15:49of Bacolor. Police said nearly 30 houses, five businesses, and a church were damaged. Thankfully,
15:56only one person suffered minor injuries. The tornado tore down many trees and power lines
16:02and littered the streets with people's roof shingles.
16:08April 24th of 2022 was supposed to be a day of fun and music in Rakhine State, Myanmar.
16:16Then, Mother Nature decided to spoil the show. Event organizers had spent all morning setting
16:22up stages and sound systems in the city of Lei Myo Chang. Then, without warning, powerful winds
16:29struck the area. With them came a wall of dust so thick that people could barely see their hands
16:35in front of their faces.
16:46It was not so long for me, but if they were to be able to do something, you could
16:52run off the ice the day of knowing the aprendeu.
16:54I was talking about the burials, but I thought the weather was going to be doing something
16:57like that.
16:58Padro elusiii is not going to be doing these situations.
17:02So I am going to shed some light for the forest.
17:04So good.
17:06I am going to shed some lightening, I am going to shed some lightening.
17:08At least there is a lightening so far, but I am going to shed some light over the grass.
17:11Two more, two more.
17:18I'm going to go to the other side.
17:21I'm going to go to the other side.
17:41One of the workers said the storm forced them to take cover wherever they stood.
17:50They could only move and seek better shelter after it had weakened significantly.
17:54Events like these occur when passing windstorms pick up loose sand and dirt from dry areas.
18:00This one may have come from as far north as the Gobi Desert, or as far west as the Middle East.
18:06The Tegete Highlands Golf Club is a resort golf course in the Philippines.
18:13It features 18 challenging holes and a fully functional cable car system that whisks players between the front and back nine.
18:21When they're done, they can eat in one of the restaurants or relax by the clubhouse fire.
18:26These golfers could have gone for a relaxing fire on July 1st of 2023, when a freak lightning storm moved over their greens.
18:35According to our cameraman, nobody had checked the weather the night before, despite the fast approaching monsoon season.
18:42They wanted to play one more round before Mother Nature rained them out.
18:46Instead, they wound up packed like sardines under this tiny gazebo.
18:51In slow motion, you can see how close these golfers were to be in the same boat.
19:20These golfers were to getting struck by lightning.
19:23Two distinct flashes occurred, meaning two bolts may have hit the same area.
19:27Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and everyone enjoyed a good laugh.
19:31Those present said the weather changed on a dime.
19:34One minute, it was dry and sunny.
19:36Moments later, the golf course was ordering people to shelter in place.
19:41One witness said at least 20 lightning strikes hit the area around their gazebo.
19:46They described it as Mother Nature waging war on them.
19:49Maybe next time, they'll check the weather report before heading out to the links.
19:54If you enjoyed this video and want to see another just like it, be sure to click the link on screen now.
