Pembrokeshire woman's tragic killing by a stranger

A fifty-two-year-old woman who died after being found in the bedroom of her home in Pembroke Dock with a number of stab wounds to the neck, was unlawfully killed by a stranger, an inquest has concluded.
The hearing at Haverfordwest heard that Lisa Fraser was found with multiple neck wounds after forty-one-year-old Matthew Harris entered her house on Military Road back in May 2022.
At the hearing, assistant coroner Paul Bennett said that Mrs Fraser had no connection to her attacker, who entered had her home on May 13 and killed her.
It was revealed that Mr Harris damaged a number of plant pots in gardens and a car window in the Neyland area that morning, before cycling to Pembroke Dock.
At around 8am, he also threatened an elderly motorist with a knife, who managed to escape and called the police.
When armed police arrived on the street, Mr Harris walked over from the front door of Mrs Fraser's home with his hands up saying "I've just killed a Nazi in there" and that he "needed to go to jail".
Police entered the property and found Mrs Fraser's body in a rear bedroom.
Mr Harris was due to appear at Swansea Crown Court for plea and trial preparation that June, but it was revealed that days after the defendant was remanded into custody at HMP Long Lartin, near Evesham in Worcestershire, he attempted to take his life on May 27, and died a day later at a local hospital.
The inquest heard that Mr Harris was prone to making false allegations and that he would sometimes fabricate mental conditions to avoid custody.
After the inquest, County councillor for the ward of Pennar, Cllr Tony Wilcox said: "People were aghast and terrified this could happen in our community. This was a random killing."
