00:00Who Maz thinks is a fraud and who's for real?
00:07Sing it!
00:08Maz's Tears
00:10Yeah, those are the tears of the clock.
00:13Maz's Tears
00:15The second tier. Hold on, let me get my pen.
00:17Maz's Tears
00:20Dallas
00:20Buffalo
00:21Tennessee
00:22Maz's Tears
00:24Third tier
00:25Okay, here we go. Hold on, let me get my pen.
00:27Maz's Tears
00:29Tears
00:30Tears
00:31Tears
00:32Tears
00:33Yeah, it's that time of the weekend. It's really that time of the year.
00:36The traditional, original tears are back.
00:41Started a couple years ago where Maz said, like, the Pats are like a Tier 3, Tier 4 team. I'm like, what?
00:46It spawned a revolution.
00:49Who's in Tier 1?
00:50Who's in Tier 2?
00:53Then Maz gave us his tears.
00:54Hold on, let me grab my pen.
00:56And then Murray wrote the song.
00:57And we had to write it all down, and then Murray wrote a song, and the Bernardi Automotive Group jumped on, and now it's a thing.
01:05Maz's Tears
01:06We're back to the original format. Maz's Tears is presented by the Bernardi Automotive Group. Come into any of Bernardi's five locations and celebrate summer.
01:15Whether it's a new Audi
01:16Whether it's a new Audi, Acura, Honda, Toyota, or Volvo, Bernardi has the perfect vehicle for you, and always at a great price.
01:24All right, Maz, just do your thing.
01:25Okay, again, these are the NFL, the football world, according to Maz.
01:30And we put them in tiers and sort them out entering the season. This is before week one. We will adjust as we go forward.
01:38But we're not going to screw around this week. All 32 teams get rated and placed on a tier. Tier 1. Let's go. Tier 1, Jimmy Stewart.
01:45Best of the best.
01:46Best. Baltimore. Buffalo. Philadelphia. That's it. Those are the three best teams in the league right now, if you were to say to me, who are the three Super Bowl favorites?
01:58And I didn't even check this against DraftKings and odds like that to see who the Super Bowl favorites are.
02:04But these, to me, are the teams that I feel like right now are the best teams in the league. Baltimore, Buffalo, and Philadelphia.
02:12The Eagles are self-evident, obviously, the defending Super Bowl champions. The other two have Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, the two best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league.
02:21So, there you go. Any complaints?
02:23Well, not yet. Let's see who didn't make the cut.
02:25Yeah, there's a complaint.
02:27Okay, who?
02:27The Chiefs. The Chiefs deserve to be in the top tier.
02:30Okay, we'll get to it.
02:31But you're going to buy into this narrative that the national media also has, like, oh, this is the year the Chiefs fall. Look out for the Broncos.
02:37Me doing a certain motion under the desk, please.
02:39Okay, go on.
02:40Okay, let's go to Tier 2.
02:42Again, these are Maz's tiers.
02:46Oh, God.
02:47Tier 2, Denver Broncos.
02:49Way too big of a tier.
02:50Detroit Lions.
02:52Green Bay Packers.
02:54Kansas City Chiefs.
02:56Los Angeles Rams.
02:58Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
03:00What?
03:01Washington Commanders.
03:03Now, these are all teams, I would say, in Tier 2 that qualify as pretty good.
03:08Watch out for the Broncos.
03:09The Broncos are going to surprise a lot of people this year.
03:11The Broncos have improved their roster.
03:14I think the AFC West has been a little softened.
03:17Denver's defense is very good.
03:19Sean Payton has that program going in the right direction.
03:22Watch out for Denver.
03:24Detroit, to me, has slipped.
03:25I'd have them in Tier 1 normally.
03:27I'm a little concerned about the departure of Ben Johnson.
03:30Green Bay speaks for itself.
03:32Kansas City has slipped, Murray.
03:34Rasheed Rice will not be available for six weeks.
03:37Travis Kelsey is on his last legs.
03:40I'm still not sure what they're going to do.
03:42I know they have, what's his name, the kid from Ohio State playing left tackle, Simmons.
03:45But they lost Joe Tooney on the offensive line.
03:49They lost safety Justin Reed in the secondary.
03:52And the Chiefs got their asses kicked.
03:54They've played a lot of games in the last three years.
03:58It has to catch up to them at some point.
04:00The Rams, to me, are one of the sneaky good teams in the league.
04:04Watch out for them as long as they can keep Stafford healthy.
04:07Tampa Bay is in a weak division, so they could be in the divisional playoffs just by showing up.
04:14And the Commanders, I believe in Jaden Daniels.
04:17I'm surprised Murray would scoff at this one.
04:19I didn't.
04:19Given that he goes to bed with a poster of Jaden Daniels on his ceiling every night.
04:23Murray, who would you have in Tier 2?
04:25Pop him up there again, Vin, if you could.
04:27I mean, these are bloated tiers.
04:30Get Denver out of here.
04:31Again, one of these preseason favorites that people are buying too much into.
04:34Detroit stays, Green Bay stays, Kansas City should be in Tier 1.
04:38Get the Rams out of here.
04:39You people are buying way too much into that team for having the season they did last year.
04:42The quarterback basically has a broken back.
04:44The backup's a bum.
04:45They have no secondary.
04:46Get Tampa Bay out of there as well.
04:48Washington, Green Bay, Detroit should be there.
04:51Okay, I mean, the Rams took Philly to the last two minutes of the fourth quarter in Philly.
04:57Bingo.
04:57What did Saquon Barkley do to them in that game?
05:00What did he do to everybody?
05:02Yeah, well, I don't understand the point.
05:03I mean, their defense is, like, wildly overrated.
05:05They have that one kid, Verse, that's good up front.
05:08The rest of the defense is suspect.
05:09They're coming along.
05:10Watch out for the Rams.
05:11Yeah, good luck when you have to deal with Garoppolo for 10 straight weeks.
05:14Rams are going to win that division.
05:15Sure they are.
05:16Go on.
05:16Tier 3.
05:17Okay, Tier 3.
05:18These are, yeah, mediocre teams.
05:21Atlanta.
05:23Cincinnati.
05:23Also should be Tier 2.
05:24Forgot about them.
05:25Dallas.
05:26I'll get to Cincinnati in a minute.
05:28Just shut your pie hole for a minute.
05:30Houston.
05:31Houston, the Chargers.
05:32Oh.
05:33The Vikings.
05:35The Steelers.
05:37And the Niners.
05:37Now, I will say that by the end of the year, somebody's going to come out of this group
05:41and be better than I personally thought.
05:44Maybe not better than Murray thought, because clearly Murray has all the answers.
05:49But Atlanta, to me, is overrated.
05:51The Bengals have been 9-8 two years in a row.
05:54I love Joe Burrow.
05:55I love Jamari Chase.
05:57The Cincinnati Bengals still feel like the Bengals to me.
05:59And right now, the Super Bowl year is the outlier.
06:02Dallas is lucky to be in Tier 3.
06:04I left them there because they have some high-end talent.
06:07But I could see them slipping south of this.
06:09Houston, to me, is the definition of average.
06:12The Chargers have taken some hits.
06:13And the last time we saw them, they lost to Houston 32-12.
06:18What about precious Jim Harbaugh?
06:20Okay.
06:20Good coach only gets you so far.
06:22We know that here better than anywhere, Murray.
06:24Murray, Minnesota has lost, obviously changed.
06:28They basically have a rookie quarterback in J.J. McCarthy.
06:31Pittsburgh, to me, is 10-7.
06:33Murray, you dump on them every year.
06:35Rightfully so.
06:35And the Niners went 6-11 last year, or whatever.
06:38I think it was 6-11.
06:39I don't think it was 5-12.
06:40But I would tell you that the Niners had some losses, too.
06:44I don't think they're that bad.
06:47But I don't know if they're as good as they were.
06:49And I think they're still in the process of kind of retooling a little bit.
06:52Who haven't I gotten due yet?
06:56There seems to be a team there.
06:57Where's the Pats?
06:58Oh, the Pats.
06:59Hopefully five where they belong.
07:00Yes, the Pats.
07:01Let's go to Tier 4.
07:03Tier 4 is below average.
07:06Below average.
07:07Arizona.
07:08Carolina.
07:10Chicago.
07:10And I will put an asterisk.
07:11Watch out.
07:12Ben Johnson effect on Caleb Williams.
07:14It's pretty good in the preseason.
07:16Again, that's a team that could jump.
07:17But right now, Tier 4.
07:20Indianapolis and Miami, before I get to Jacksonville.
07:23In fact, you can throw Jacksonville in there, too.
07:25Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Miami are all in the same area to me.
07:30Useless.
07:30Teams that I just can't take seriously.
07:32I agree, Murray.
07:34That one, I agree with you, one.
07:35Indianapolis has no quarterback.
07:37Jacksonville has a quarterback that has never reached its potential.
07:41Miami feels like a time bomb.
07:43Like, that is going to come apart.
07:44I would watch out for Miami falling to pieces.
07:46I think they hate the coach.
07:47The Patriots, the Giants, the Seahawks.
07:51Now, look.
07:52If Sam Darnold repeats what he did in Minnesota, then the Seahawks are going to be better.
07:57A lot of people like the Giants.
07:59I really don't.
08:00I think Russell Wilson blows.
08:01And I think Jackson Dart sucks.
08:03So, I don't think the Giants are going to be much.
08:06The division could be a little weaker.
08:07But why are the Pats in Tier 4, Matt?
08:09You haven't really said much about it.
08:10Feels high.
08:11Well, because the Pats have no offensive line.
08:13The quarterback is learning a new offense.
08:17There's, you know, and again, I believe in Mike Grable.
08:19But the Patriots have a lot of holes still.
08:22I'm not getting all gung-ho about the Patriots.
08:24But they could win seven or eight games.
08:26National media feels strong.
08:27Maybe the National, it sounds like Chris Sims would have them in Tier 3.
08:30I mean, that Tier 3 and Tier 4, there really aren't that much of a difference between those two tiers.
08:35And then Tier 5, I would call these the true suckbag dregs of the National Football League.
08:40These teams blow.
08:42And they, you know, I want to put a team like Jacksonville down there.
08:46But Jacksonville has more talent than some of these teams.
08:48Cleveland's a mess.
08:49Can you imagine being a Browns fan?
08:51What a horrible organization.
08:54I think the Raiders are coming apart.
08:56And I know they got Brady in there.
08:58But really, their defense is really, really weak.
09:02It's a very difficult division.
09:03The Raiders are going to have trouble keeping up with all those teams in the West.
09:06I'm sorry, I just don't think they're that good.
09:09The Saints might be the worst team in football.
09:11The Jets have no quarterback.
09:13The Titans have a quarterback that they drafted one overall.
09:16But that is a massive, massive rebuild in Tennessee.
09:21I think these are easily the five worst teams in the league.
09:24I wanted to put the Giants in there.
09:26But I think the Giants have more talent at the skill positions than some of these other teams do.
09:31Murray, go ahead.
09:33I mean, again, I'm kind of sneaky bullish on the Raiders.
09:36I think they end up being the last AFC team.
09:38But a lot of that junk that's...
09:40Do you think the Raiders are a wild card team?
09:41Yeah, I do.
09:42I actually think they're going to...
09:42Because I think that offense is going to be competent enough with Geno Smith,
09:45who, as of right now, is better than Drake May, for one.
09:48And Brady effect there.
09:50And I think the Pete Carroll bump, you know, and his enthusiasm.
09:52Yeah, it's going to be a very competitive division.
09:54And sure, the Chiefs are going to drop a little bit,
09:56but they're still going to end up winning the division.
09:57The Raiders squeak in.
09:58Chargers come down.
09:59Broncos come down to earth.
10:00Raiders squeak in.
10:01The rest of all that crap, though, in four and five,
10:03I don't have much of an argument with that.
10:06Or tier five team?
10:07They're tier four.
10:08They're not one of the...
10:09Is that right, Murray?
10:10Yeah.
10:10I don't think they're one of the...
10:11Well, it's big of you.
10:12Yes, thank you.
10:12That's interesting.
10:13Stu?
10:15Tier five.
10:16Yeah.
10:16They're not tier five.
10:18They are.
10:18They can't block.
10:20Their defense is vastly overrated.
10:22And the quarterback doesn't understand the offense
10:24and overthrew everybody in preseason.
10:26Tier five.
10:27Tier three team.
10:28Yeah, Brady...
10:29They won four games back-to-back years.
10:31And because they got a nice, shiny new coach
10:33who likes to bully the media,
10:34that's going to win them, what, four more games?
10:36Please.
10:37Vrabel alone makes them...
10:39Gets them out of tier five.
10:41Vrabel alone gets them out of there.
10:43So...
10:43Well, let's see it, then.
10:44Well, okay.
10:45We're sure to do today, Pastor.
10:47No, that's exactly right, Stu.
10:48I mean, because right now,
10:49he hasn't impressed me at all.
10:51He just...
10:51He talks down to Phil Berry.
10:52Neat.
10:53I think that...
10:55That's worth a win.
10:56Maybe two.
10:56Just quickly.
10:57He was polite to Felger
10:58at the owners' meetings.
11:00Cool.
11:00Whee!
11:01That's worth another couple wins.
11:02Kansas City, two years ago,
11:04only won 11 games.
11:05They won 11-6.
11:06They won the Super Bowl
11:08because they kind of got hot
11:09at the end of the year
11:10and they stole it.
11:11Last year, they went 15-2
11:13and I think we know in retrospect
11:14that they weren't that good
11:15because they got absolutely
11:17freaking schwacked by the Eagles.
11:19And I do buy into that whole thing
11:21of losing the Super Bowl
11:23and coming back in,
11:24you know, the next year
11:25is a little harder.
11:26I think Kansas City's taking a hit.
11:27I think Kansas City's taking a hit.
