Blodwyn Pig - Ahead Rings Out 1969 (UK, Blues / Jazz Rock)
The debut album by British rock band "Blodwyn Pig", was released in August 1969 on the "Island Records" in the UK, "A & M Records" in the United States . The group was formed in 1968 by Mick Abrahams - one of the founders of "Jethro Tull". Releasing a "Jethro Tull" debut album "This Was", Abrahams found serious ideological differences with the other star of the group - Ian Anderson. Two strong personalities hard to stay in the same team . Abrahams decided to leave. At one time, creating a "Jethro Tull", it was intended to play an interesting blend of blues , jazz and rock, that resulted in a great album "This Was" ( 1968). But Anderson did not suit too clear and frank blues jazz rock . He wanted to experiment in new areas of music. Abrahams , as they say , gave him the flag in his hands - left him a ready-made group , and he formed a new band called "Blodwyn Pig". Album "Ahead Rings Out" was a strong competitor to the withdrawing at the same time (August 1969), the second album "Jethro Tull" - "Stand Up", even though he led the British charts , and "Ahead Rings Out" only reached 9th place . The album was well received in America, there is also lit up the charts , giving the group a reason to make a couple of overseas tours. In contrast to the "Jethro Tull", the group did not become widely popular among the masses , in general, and consistent with the interests of Mick Abrahams .
