Indonesia fires police officer over killing that sparked nationwide protests. The officer was one of seven in the armoured vehicle that ran over a delivery driver, igniting mass demonstrations.

00:00Welcome back. In Jakarta, Indonesian authorities have fired a police officer involved in the death of a delivery driver
00:07who was struck by an armed police vehicle during an anti-government protest.
00:12The officer, Cosmas Kajugai, was discharged after an ethics hearing found him guilty of unprofessional conduct.
00:21Cosmas, one of the seven officers detained, was in the front seat of the vehicle that ran over 21-year-old Afan Kurniawan.
00:28During the hearing, Cosmas broke down in tears, saying he never intended to kill anyone and was only doing his job.
00:36He is considering an appeal.
00:39Since last week, protests led by students, workers and rights groups have spread across Indonesia against economic inequality, lawmaker's perks and police brutality.
00:50In response to the outcry, President Prabowo Subianto announced cuts to lawmaker's generous housing and travel allowances.
