Two young siblings drowned after their car, which was parked along Sungai Linggi, suddenly rolled into the river at the Tanjung Agas bridge in Port Dickson on Thursday (Sept 4).

00:00A family holiday ended in heartbreak after two young siblings drowned, when their car,
00:08which was parked along Sungai Lingi, suddenly rolled into the river on Thursday.
00:13Port Dixon District Police Chief Superintendent Maslan Udin said the eight-year-old boy and
00:18his six-year-old sister were resting in the car with a couple, believed to be their parents,
00:23along the riverbank before the incident.
00:26Based on preliminary investigation, the man got out of the car, which was parked below
00:31the Tanjong Agas Bridge, to have a cigarette and the car suddenly began rolling towards
00:35the river.
00:37The car engine was switched off at the time of the incident.
00:41Superintendent Maslan said passersby managed to pull the woman out in time, but the children
00:45were trapped in the vehicle.
00:47Teams from the Fire and Rescue Department, MMEA and Marine Department immediately launched
00:52a rescue operation.
00:54The girl's body was brought up around 1.24pm, while the boys was recovered nearly 20 minutes
01:00later at 1.47pm.
01:03Medical personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but both were confirmed dead.
01:09Superintendent Maslan said the children's remains were found in the front passenger seat
01:13of the overturned vehicle at a depth of four metres.
