00:00Most of the stocks in my portfolio are dividend stocks.
00:03And my goal is to have this dividend yield,
00:05which is this little number right here,
00:07average 4% across all of my stocks.
00:09And that is the general rule of thumb to aim for
00:11among dividend nerds like myself.
00:13That is that 4% rule of retirement.
00:16Right now though, you have to remember,
00:18these stocks are what you call equities, right?
00:20Which is a fancy word for stonks.
00:22And they don't always go up.
00:23I'm taking a risk by investing my money into stocks.
00:25And right now, they're all going down.
00:27Luckily, not as bad as the S&P 500,
00:29which means I'm winning,
00:31but I'm still down double digits.
00:32So it's not saying much.
00:33The point is, is that especially the older you get,
00:36the more appealing the bond market gets.
00:39Because bonds pay you a guaranteed par value.
00:42So you get all of your money back plus interest.
00:45And that's saying a lot in a market
00:48where there are very few ways to make a guaranteed return.
