During a press briefing on Tuesday, Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA) addressed what could get Democrats to agree to a continuing resolution spending bill.
Transcript
00:00I just want to ask about government funding since that deadline is coming up in a few weeks.
00:06What would get Democrats to yes on a continuing resolution?
00:12Bipartisan spending bill that meets the needs of the American public.
00:15We've been clear on that.
00:17I've talked from this podium about the work that I've done with appropriators and ranking member Rosa DeLauro.
00:25If Republicans were serious about a spending plan, they would work with Democrats in order to meet those needs.
00:34Time and time again, we are seeing priorities that are out of line with what the American people want,
00:39including what they released this weekend in gutting health care within the labor age bill
00:44that is coming before the Appropriations Committee and was marked up in the subcommittee yesterday.
00:49So that gives us huge concern.
00:51But Republicans know that they need to work with us, and we stand ready to do that.
00:57If they want a shutdown, then they have the ability to put one forward.
01:01If Donald Trump and House Republicans want a shutdown, they can.
01:05But it's not going to be because of Democrats.
01:09We're at the table, we're working, and we want to find solutions.
