00:00From Mooshin streets to PSG Queen
00:10In fashion they did against Zambia, Ajibade into the box.
00:18Ladies and gentlemen, gather round oh.
00:21Today, we're serving hot pepper stew.
00:23The story of one Mooshin girl way carry pure hustle, faith and blue hair go Paris.
00:27Her name?
00:28Rashidat Ajibade.
00:31Rashidat Ajibade aka Rash aka girl with the blue hair aka PSG's newest superstar.
00:36This one no be ordinary transfer gist oh not full grass to grace testimony.
00:41From selling Zobo and Kunu on the streets of Mooshin to now balling under the lights of Parque des Princes.
00:47My people, if this no be miracle when we go call Am?
00:51From Zobo, seller to superstar.
00:53At age of six or seven I started playing football on the street of Mooshin.
00:56She's in Diyaraba in between always you know Mooshin.
00:59In between in Diyaraba and Mooshin.
01:01Wow.
01:02So around Repolitan like Taiwo street oh that's where I grew up.
01:06So it's a very crazy environment.
01:07You see, Ajibade grew up in Mooshin.
01:10Survival was the first sport she learned before football.
01:13I grew up in Mooshin.
01:14Okay.
01:15In Lagos in Diyaraba.
01:16Yeah.
01:17In Lagos Axis where you have like a child at age of 13, 12, 10 years already you know in cold season and all of that.
01:23Yeah.
01:24And 10, 15, 14 years old girl is already pregnant.
01:26Yes.
01:27I know I live, we're living in like a compound of like almost 100 people.
01:30So you know what you have to line up to and start to use bathrooms and all of that.
01:34In that compound we don't really have enough to survive.
01:37So we're like seven or eight in one room.
01:39And I think say seven in one room.
01:41In that compound we have like bachelors and all.
01:44So we had to, we, myself I had to tell them like sometimes give me the money.
01:48Let me wash the bathroom.
01:49So I used, I helped them to wash the toilet.
01:52And during the weekend I had to plantain and all of that.
01:56So then during programs like church programs, deliverance.
01:59When it's happening in a prayer city.
02:03If it's redeem camp.
02:04If it's Shiloh.
02:05So we're always there.
02:06We know when the programs are running.
02:07And we know what they need.
02:08So for example in, in, in prayer city, in MFF.
02:11We know that what they need is Zobu, Kunu and the Olivoi.
02:15So if it's conference, conference too as well.
02:17It's like only, only whatever.
02:19So we're just bringing something there to sell.
02:21She know they're ashamed to talk Am.
02:23To be honest, I never imagined that I would be where I am today.
02:26If I say so, I'm lying.
02:27Right.
02:28But one thing I know is, I knew we were living in poverty.
02:32I knew things were not okay for myself and my family.
02:35And I just had that mindset of, I have to change the status quo.
02:39Honestly, I was disciplined when I was growing up.
02:43It's just God's grace.
02:44Because I will tell you the truth.
02:45It's not like we had like this difficult period.
02:47I would like say, don't do like this.
02:48And like, you know, we didn't have it.
02:49And that's why I am also one of those advocate, you know, as parent,
02:54you can always do your best to tutor your children, but also let God be at the center of your tutoring.
02:59Because you've seen pastors, we've seen prophets and all of them that has, they help other people's children.
03:05And their own children.
03:06Their children is out of it.
03:07So, you know, that God factor should never, you know, live there.
03:10Right.
03:11So, for me, I never dream, I never thought about it.
03:14But it's just all about just, you know, series of consistent hard work, hard work and keep working.
03:20And because I grew up, I'm very close to my mom.
03:23Right.
03:24And because I lost my dad also at the very tender age.
03:26Sorry about that.
03:27And thank you.
03:29So, yeah.
03:30Yeah.
03:31I lost my dad at the tender age.
03:32So, looking at my background.
03:34Yeah.
03:35I'm never ashamed to tell people that I sold Kunil.
03:37I sold Zobo or I sold, and that's not even what I sold.
03:40That's just one bit of my background.
03:43Right.
03:44So, if we look at, if we really want to break it down with my experience, it's crazy.
03:48It's crazy.
03:49Omo, now real street graduate.
03:51Lagos know they smile.
03:52But now those trenches sharpen her spirit like cut last weight.
03:55Just they grind for stone.
03:56The turning point.
03:57Encounter with God.
03:58But hear this twist.
04:00Ajibade was born a Muslim.
04:01Life hit her with depression, loneliness, and pain when she moved abroad.
04:05But instead of giving up, she encountered God.
04:07And in her words,
04:08I felt empty, broken.
04:09Then I encountered God.
04:11It changed everything.
04:12I moved from Islam to Christianity.
04:14Not because of anybody, but because God revealed himself to me.
04:17My G.
04:18Nah.
04:19Now here Bible proverb apply.
04:20The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
04:22Falling with the Falcons and beyond.
04:24My personal account actually started when 2018, 2019, when I left Nigeria.
04:31Leaving Nigeria, I left with like injury pains, not happy, frustrated, depressed, and everything.
04:36But I couldn't really frame all of these things that I was going through.
04:39Because I was quite young.
04:40I was like 17 or 18.
04:41I think I was 18 years old.
04:4317, 18 years old.
04:44And my first international contract was in Norway.
04:48Got signed up by Alvarsness FC.
04:50And in my down moment, I didn't understand.
04:52I was just like, God, I could not feel if you go into South issue.
04:55And over time, I was so reserved.
04:57I was so conservative.
04:58And I didn't want to say anything to anybody.
05:00Right.
05:01Even before I left.
05:02Because when I tried to even explain, people don't understand.
05:04So I just kept everything to myself.
05:05Happy to yourself.
05:06So I was just, you know, swelling in.
05:08And it was really, I felt really bad.
05:11And most of the time, I'm thinking of either I don't want to play football again.
05:14Yeah.
05:15I felt like, I just want to be on the field, slum and die.
05:18Or maybe just thinking about, you know, suicide.
05:20But you know, you can't kill yourself.
05:21But just looking for experience or an accident that just happened.
05:23To just make you just, you know, let go of all this.
05:26Just crying every day.
05:27A young girl like me, I just feel like, okay, God.
05:29If you don't help me in this situation, this is just going to go.
05:32But I don't have that personal experience with God.
05:35With God.
05:36You know, like when it comes to Christianity.
05:38I only know that we pray.
05:39I have my mouth.
05:40I have my Quran.
05:41And everything that I pray is in my room.
05:42Should I sit down there?
05:43I'm like, there's nothing I could do.
05:44I dream, dream, all of this, you know, turmoil and all.
05:47Then...
05:48You had a dream.
05:49Yeah, I had a dream.
05:50Then later, something else.
05:51I just, I don't know what happened.
05:52I have my Bible.
05:53Because my mom will always, you know, tell us to hold our Bible.
05:55Because I'm more familiar with the Quran than the Bible.
05:58In that moment, I opened my book.
06:00I opened my Bible.
06:01I was reading.
06:02Because I just opened.
06:03I didn't understand what was happening.
06:04You know, because I felt like I was just sad.
06:06Yeah.
06:07Every day when I come back from training.
06:08I'm in my room.
06:09Locked in my room.
06:10Locked in my room.
06:11Crying.
06:12I told God, God just help me.
06:13Like, I can't.
06:14Because I was sick.
06:15I was injured.
06:16I couldn't play well.
06:17During all of this.
06:18I can't experience anything today.
06:19But all I just want to do is just survive.
06:21It's not a matter of, God, if you don't help me.
06:23It's finished.
06:24You know?
06:25I can't imagine 17 or 18 years at that time.
06:27Yes.
06:28Yes.
06:29And stay in the cold region where anything could have happened.
06:30Yes.
06:31Yes.
06:32So, I just felt like God was just in the middle of the whole thing.
06:35He's just waiting for me to come back.
06:37To come.
06:38From there, the Lord told me, clear up everything that doesn't look like me around you.
06:41Is there a statue here?
06:42Is there?
06:43Is there?
06:44What can this possibly mean?
06:45Anything that doesn't look like me, just clear up.
06:47Take me known.
06:48Hmm.
06:49Hmm.
06:50Maybe I'm like, why?
06:51How?
06:52Like, I am a Muslim.
06:53This was a battle.
06:54Like, a very young guy that doesn't really understand.
06:55What is going on.
06:56What is going on.
06:57So, I didn't really understand.
06:58I was like, you know, something with speaking to you, you feel like, I don't understand
07:01what is really happening.
07:02Is it like, am I hallucinating or something?
07:03Yes.
07:04But over time, I start to begin to understand.
07:06Because sometimes you feel like God should speak to you.
07:08Like, if it's you, God, show yourself like this.
07:11But it will never show yourself the way you think you should show yourself.
07:14But it will make you understand what is in a saying.
07:17If you, me, when you show me, I will glorify myself.
07:21Hmm.
07:22I still do not really understand.
07:23I'm like, ah, Rashidat.
07:25Do you really understand?
07:26I didn't know my name.
07:27Like, you know, I'm like, how do you want me to handle this?
07:30How do you want me to even face the public to say?
07:32Everybody knows that I'm Muslim.
07:33Over time, everything just started.
07:35I started following as he speaks.
07:37I wasn't, because now the passion and the zeal just overwhelms me.
07:40Yeah.
07:41And everything just become effortlessly.
07:43I started doing some things effortlessly.
07:45Yes.
07:46How God wants me to praise him.
07:47He was like, Shelly me.
07:48How God wants me to do something.
07:49Shelly me.
07:50Yeah.
07:51So it was now, okay.
07:52I was now enjoying it.
07:53The same thing they did against Zambia.
07:58Ajibade into the box.
08:00Fast forward.
08:01Ajibade turn leader for Nigeria's Superior Super Falcons.
08:04Fearless runs, thunder goals, and three player of the match awards at Dawafkan.
08:07She even, Vexco Aso Rock, gives speech to the president like true captain.
08:11This Babe No Day play.
08:13From Mushin to Paris.
08:14El campo siempre va a brillar.
08:16Now PSG Dawn sign Ajibade.
08:18And guess what?
08:19She no day alone.
08:20Her Nigerian sister Jennifer Echeghini day there too.
08:24Double Wahala for Defenders O.
08:26When asked how she feels about playing with her national teammate in Paris, Ajibade said special.
08:31We Nigerians carry each other's fire.
08:33My sister.
08:34How you doing?
08:35Yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:36We know very well.
08:37We know very well on the team.
08:40From the national team.
08:42I mean, I'm privileged to be the captain of the Super Falcons.
08:45So I have to relate with everybody on the team.
08:48So I get to know individually.
08:49Everyone.
08:50And yeah, I call her my sister because she's a very unique person.
08:54And of course a very amazing and a special footballer.
08:58And of course also a very good person to relate to.
09:02I think that would play a very major role for me to quickly get integrated into the team.
09:07Because yeah, when you see your teammate and you've played a lot of time on the national team.
09:13So seeing somebody you know from the same country.
09:15And yeah, it helps me quickly get along on the team.
09:20And of course with the rest of the players as well.
09:22Nice to meet you.
09:23Welcome.
09:24I beg, make them go ask JJ Okocha.
09:27PSG and Nigerian alike, Bread and Akara.
09:30Weed a suite together since the 90s.
09:33Moral of the story.
09:34From selling Zobo and Mushin to shining bright in Paris.
09:37Ajibade's story and a proof say.
09:39Poverty no fit, hold destiny hostage.
09:41Faith and hustle they break chains.
09:43And as them talk for Naija, no condition is permanent.
09:47So next time life knock you down, remember Ajibade.
09:51The girl we turn her mess into a masterpiece.
