00:00There are two ways to invest into bonds that people don't realize.
00:04The difference is, one of the ways can get you all your money back.
00:08The second way, you can actually lose money.
00:11Here's the difference.
00:12The first way, which is my favorite way, and the safest way to invest into bonds,
00:16is to buy them individually directly from the government on the treasury.gov website.
00:22The second way is to buy them through your favorite brokerage app.
00:27These are bond funds.
00:29In other words, a bundle of bonds, ETF style.
00:33Most people buy it like that.
00:35The difference, though, is those are a lot more liquid, meaning you can sell them at any time,
00:40but they have no maturity or expiration date,
00:45which means people are constantly trading them between each other,
00:48and that's why the value of those bond funds fluctuates and goes up and down.
