00:00Who is she?
00:01I heard she spends her summer holidays modeling for Balenciaga.
00:06My name is Anna Sinclair.
00:08Art school scholarship student by day, fake New York socialite by night.
00:12Anna, you look beautiful.
00:14Preston is my ticket out.
00:16He's rich. Becoming his girlfriend might be my best chance at starting a new life.
00:20You think you belong in New York high society?
00:22Yes, I am. She's a liar! She's not even rich!
00:26Am I living the lie? Definitely.
00:28But it's the only way to escape the hell my parents probably threw.
00:31It's a man's offer!
00:33Catching feelings for Brooks was not a part of my plan.
00:35I know your little plan, Anna.
00:37Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about.
00:39She's just a broke-ass art student who's pretending to be a socialite so she can steal my man.
00:44Rich or poor, it doesn't matter.
00:46I know the real you, and that's the girl I'm falling for.
00:49How could I want Brooks? Brooks will ruin everything.
00:58Who is she?
01:00I heard.
01:02Her dad is a Wall Street tycoon and her mom is an opera singer.
01:05I've heard she speaks over six languages.
01:14Dude, she is totally checking you out right now.
01:20She's headed the street for Brooks weekend.
01:21Of course she is.
01:23She's only up for Eastside.
01:29Oh, she totally swerved the Richardson-Coast guy in our class.
01:33Your eyes are so...
01:48Are you okay?
01:53You're hurt.
01:54Let's get you out of here.
02:00Damn, bro.
02:02I totally thought she was feeling you, but I guess she's more into your boy, Preston.
02:07Whatever.
02:08She'll be yesterday's news by brunch.
02:23Don't Jay-Z and Beyoncé own the penthouse?
02:26I'll tell them you said hi.
02:29Thanks for the ride.
02:30Wait, you hurt your ankle.
02:33Let me help you inside.
02:35I've already done so much.
02:37My security will help you.
02:40Thanks.
02:49Your payment?
02:50As promised.
02:52I suppose you're doing business.
02:53Next time you want to pull another trust fund, Dimwit, to believe in your real socialite, you know who to call.
02:58When you leave, don't forget to remember, don't forget to remember to meet you.
03:10My name is Anna Sinclair, art school scholarship student by day, fake New York socialite by night.
03:21I was a nobody in this city until I started pretending that I wasn't.
03:26Am I living the lie?
03:29Definitely.
03:30But it's the only way to escape the hell my parents' puppy through.
03:44OMG.
03:45Have you seen the Gilded Gazette's Instagram?
03:47Girl, look at the comments.
03:50Everyone is talking about you.
03:52You said you wanted to break into the high society, and here you are, breaking the fuck in.
03:56I know you need a rich boy to fund your escape, but promise me one thing.
04:00You'll stay away from Brooks Whitmore.
04:02He's a hottie, but he could blow your whole cover.
04:07Don't worry.
04:08I won't touch him.
04:10Preston's no bricks Whitmore, but he's rich, well-connected.
04:14Becoming his girlfriend might be my best chance at starting a new life.
04:18I'm not here to sleep with the enemy.
04:23I just need a way out.
04:24You little brat.
04:34You think you can just run away and leave us behind?
04:36You're not going to Paris.
04:37You're not going anywhere.
04:38Good luck trying to win your scholarship with all your works.
04:41You're not going anywhere.
04:45You're not going to Paris.
04:46You're not going anywhere.
04:47You're not going anywhere.
04:54I'm pretty sure there's a rule about calling a girl you just met within 24 hours.
05:07But I'm breaking it.
05:09I hope that's okay.
05:10I won't hold it against you.
05:12I found your necklace in my car.
05:14I'm throwing a party tomorrow.
05:17If you're free, why don't you come by and pick it up?
05:21I'd love to.
05:24He's sweeter than I expected.
05:27I wish I didn't have the light in.
05:29But it's the only way.
05:39Invitation?
05:40Preston Kingsley invited me.
05:44Well, that's the tenth time I've heard that one tonight.
05:46Why don't you split an Uber back to New Jersey with the other party crashers?
05:50I just go get him.
05:54He'll tell you a bit.
05:55Bitch, I'm holding up the line.
05:57What kind of loser shows up to a Kingsley party without an invite?
06:00I have a side reject.
06:01This is an exclusive event.
06:03Not the sale rack at Forever 21.
06:10That's for a coin wars card.
06:11Oh my god, he's kidding me.
06:20I'm done playing nice.
06:22You're blocking the VIP entrance.
06:23Get out of the way.
06:24No!
06:30Mr. Whitmore, she didn't have an invitation.
06:32I couldn't let her in.
06:34She's with me.
06:35I'll take those invites, ladies.
06:43Go home.
06:45You're officially blacklisted from this club.
06:48Let's go.
06:56I didn't do it for you.
06:57I did it for Preston.
07:05That's the goal from the Gilded Gazette post.
07:07I heard she spends her summer holidays modeling for Balenciaga.
07:17Anna, you made it.
07:18You look incredible.
07:21You kids go have fun.
07:24You don't look too bad yourself, birthday boy.
07:26Oh, um.
07:30Thanks.
07:30Now, is it just me, or is she even hotter than she was last time?
07:37There's something off about that girl.
07:39Maybe it's because she's the first girl to ignore you in, like, forever.
07:44Does the birthday boy want a drink?
07:46How can I say no to you?
07:50Hot bottles, Preston.
07:58I'm sorry.
07:59What's the matter?
08:01Preston board with you already.
08:04Oh.
08:10Anna, do you, uh, want some champagne?
08:13Little brother.
08:20Go hail the painter of the fracture, Callahan Conservatory's most critically acclaimed artwork.
08:27A painting is everything.
08:28She's an autistic genius.
08:30I heard that the owner of the Empire State Building offered $10 million to buy Fracture,
08:35which is not accepting offers.
08:37Fracture?
08:41Oh, my God.
08:41It's her.
08:42And the winner of this year's covetous semester abroad scholarship in Paris goes to Lila Kingsley.
08:54For her work on the painting, Fracture.
09:01That's my painting.
09:03How'd she get it?
09:04Do you want to see it?
09:07No, sir, that's my painting.
09:09No, sir, that's my painting.
09:12You know how important the semester abroad to Paris is to me.
09:15I just, are you really trying to say this is your painting?
09:19I painted fragments months ago.
09:22Fracture.
09:23The painting is called Fracture.
09:24Sir, she doesn't even know the name.
09:26Enough.
09:26Lila is a very talented artist.
09:29Anna Kingsley?
09:30Why would she lie?
09:32How dare you attack her work just because yours doesn't measure up?
09:36Sit down.
09:36Happy birthday.
09:46Lila Kingsley, the girl who stole my painting is Preston's sister.
09:55Preston?
09:56You didn't tell me you were bringing a date.
09:59Oh, we met last night.
10:00Anna, Lila, Lila, Anna.
10:03Does she recognize me?
10:04Who the hell is this bitch?
10:07I better keep an eye on her in case she's really after my man.
10:12Wait, there's something familiar about her.
10:15Have we met before?
10:18Oh, she went to a Swiss boarding school.
10:21He could have never met her.
10:22Oh, my God.
10:23Switzerland.
10:25The holes in the cheese.
10:26So genius.
10:28Less calories.
10:30That was close.
10:31This anti-girl acts like she belongs here.
10:35But I've never even heard of her before last night.
10:37Neither have I.
10:39Let's put her to the test.
10:40See if she's really one of us.
10:43Let's be real.
10:49This party's getting a little bit lame.
10:51So, uh, how about we spice it up with a competition?
10:55How about a game of the burning bets?
10:58New girl, you win?
10:59It is the most popular game on the Upper East Side.
11:02You are from the Upper East Side, aren't you?
11:05Of course I am.
11:09Let's play.
11:12Okay, well, you are going to need some competition.
11:19You think you belong in New York High Society?
11:25Then prove it.
11:27You're on.
11:28So, the name of the game is The Burning Bet.
11:35Now, see, one of these paintings is a Monet valued of millions of dollars,
11:39and the others are worthless fakes.
11:42Each of you pick one and, uh, burn it.
11:46You pick wrong, the bet is going to cost you three million dollars.
11:51Okay.
11:52So, who wants to go first?
11:55Go easy on her, dude.
12:04No chance, birthday boy.
12:07No pressure on the girl.
12:08It's just a few mil, right?
12:13Three million?
12:15I can't even afford three hundred.
12:19You know a masterpiece when you see one, Anna.
12:23You can do this.
12:25This is fake.
12:49Anna survives.
12:51Round one.
12:52Lucky, yes.
12:59Hmm.
13:00Of course, it was.
13:02What does she know about art?
13:14Yeah, well, of course, Brooks knows his art.
13:17Second fake.
13:18Game over?

40:55Dreaming about Anna? What the hell is wrong with me?
41:03It's cool. I'll be there.
41:24When Sakine sees that you're my real parents, there's more where that came from.
41:32You can count on us. We've been acting together for years.
41:37If I don't pull this off, then I'll lose my shot at finally escaping the hell my parents trapped me in.
41:48Preston has always been very dedicated to his studies.
41:51I hope you're worth the distraction, Ma.
41:56Preston is clearly a very impressive young man.
42:00And I didn't mention how handsome he was, though.
42:06Fake-ass bitch. I don't know where Anna got these impostors, but I won't let her get away with this.
42:15What is Brooks doing here?
42:17Preston didn't say he was coming.
42:19Brooksie, you made it.
42:25One missus for the world, Mr. Kingsley.
42:28We were just talking about the happy couple.
42:35Mr. Sinclair, Anna mentioned to me that you work on Wall Street, but she didn't say what firm.
42:40I'm over at Goldman Sachs. I've been there for years.
42:46Oh, really? Because my best friend's dad works at Goldman and I actually brought you up and he didn't recognize the name.
42:52Oh, uh, you know what? You must work on domestic accounts. You see, I'm on the international team and I've been there since the big merger back in 2018.
43:07We mainly worked out of Paris.
43:11Oh, how interesting.
43:14Our Lila here won a painting competition at the Callahan Conservatory. The grand prize was a summer semester in Paris.
43:21Mm-hmm. But she decided not to go, though. I guess just a few more weeks by the pool of work too tempting to turn down.
43:27That program was my only shot at escaping my abusive parents.
43:31Lila stole it from me and now she's not even going.
43:36You know, I actually, I think I saw that painting at the conservatory.
43:40Called Fracture, right?
43:42Uh, yeah.
43:44She still can't remember the name of my painting.
43:47Let's see her fake her way through the rest.
43:49It's actually, it's so interesting. I was just curious what your, your inspiration for that piece was.
43:57Well, uh, basically I was really inspired by, um, when things break and, um, also, you know, bad vibes and stuff.
44:13You know, when, when vibes are really bad and stuff.
44:20Yeah, I guess I saw it a little differently.
44:23What did you see?
44:25Oh, to me, Fracture, it isn't about something breaking.
44:28It's about the moment right after.
44:31Where you can't really move forward, but you can't go back to change it.
44:34So it's kind of like you're stuck in between becoming the person you're supposed to be and the person that you were.
44:39This is our winning painting.
44:44It's called Fracture.
44:47Powerful.
44:49Like, the moment you can't go back, but haven't figured out how to move forward either.
44:56Being stuck between who you were and who you're supposed to become.
45:01How did she know?
45:04This has to mean something.
45:06She has to mean something.
45:09Thanks for the TED talk, Anna, but maybe don't pretend you know more about my art than I do.
45:14Honestly, Anna, if you understand art as well as you claim to, then why aren't you in the program yourself?
45:20Go to Paris.
45:22I was going to invite Anna to Paris tonight.
45:24I can't let books steal my thunder.
45:27Anna?
45:29My family goes to Paris every summer.
45:30Would you want to come with me?
45:31This is a chance to escape.
45:32This is everything I wanted.
45:33Everything I worked for.
45:34I'd love to.
45:35Yeah.
45:36Anna, my family goes to Paris every summer. Would you want to come with me?
45:47This is it. My chance to escape. This is everything I wanted. Everything I worked for.
45:54I'd love to.
45:56Yeah.
45:56Yeah.
46:06Fracture, it isn't about something breaking. It's about the moment right after, where you
46:12can't really move forward, but you can't go back to change it. So it's kind of like you're
46:15stuck in between becoming the person you're supposed to be and the person that you were.
46:21I mean, how vain do you have to be to think that I get a tattoo for you? I got this to
46:26cover up some of its colors.
46:27First the rose tattoo, then her take on Lila's painting. It can't all be a coincidence. She's
46:34everything I've ever wanted in a girl. She's perfect. Too perfect.
46:39Brooks, I thought you left already.
46:43I didn't realize you were keeping tabs on me.
46:45What's up with you tonight?
46:51I have to take care of this. Meet me downstairs.
47:01What are you doing?
47:04I know your little plan, Anna.
47:16Brooks, I'm Preston's girlfriend.
47:19I can't give you what you want.
47:22Stop.
47:24Stop playing games with me, Anna.
47:26You said the rose tattoo was a coincidence.
47:30Okay, fine.
47:32But then you come in here and say all that about Lila's painting?
47:36It was exactly what went through my head when I saw it.
47:40How could you have known that?
47:42Me?
47:43You understood my painting?
47:45No one's ever seen my work like that.
47:48Not even my teacher's.
47:49They can't let that get to me.
47:51You seriously can't think all of this is about you.
47:56Get over yourself.
47:58I'm here for Preston.
48:00Not some neurotic rich boy who thinks every girl in this city is just dying to fall at his feet.
48:04I think I'm some master manipulator.
48:23I think you have me confused with your girlfriend.
48:26She's the one who can't explain her prize winning painting.
48:30What's going on?
48:31You were just talking about Lila's painting.
48:36No, it's getting late.
48:38We should get going.
48:40You coming?
48:43No.
48:45You two lovers, go ahead.
48:54Let me know when you get home safe.
48:56I will.
48:57Yeah.
48:58Hey.
49:01I need to ask you something.
49:14What is it, Preston?
49:17Do you have feelings for Anna?
49:23Are you kidding me?
49:25I wouldn't be caught dead with that girl.
49:27Then why does it feel like you can't keep your eyes off of her?
49:29Trust me, man.
49:32When she breaks your heart, I'll be there to pick up the pieces.
49:36You're wrong about her.
49:39Whatever you say.
49:41Be.
49:42Be.
49:56Do I have feelings for Anna?
49:59So.
50:03Would you convince the Kingsley that you were my real parents?
50:06So.
50:07So.
