00:00Hello, I'm Jason Manford and welcome to The Answer Run, the quiz where you've always got
00:15a 50% chance of getting the answer right. It's as simple as that and here is how it works.
00:19Every question has two possible answers. In this example, we've got circle and square.
00:25Questions will make their way down the run and our teams will swipe towards the answer they think is correct.
00:30So, usual shape of a boxing ring, that is a square. You know what's called a ring, that's confusing.
00:37So the value of that question goes into my prize pot, but if I got it wrong, so no through road sign being a circle,
00:45then I would lose that same amount. So, let's meet the teams taking on The Answer Run today.
00:52I'm Niamh, this is Kirsty and we're best friends from Glasgow.
00:57I'm Alex, this is Jake. We are uncle and nephew from Tynawea and Reading.
01:02Hi, I'm Sarah and this is Emma. We're sisters from Burnley, Lancashire.
01:09Great to see you all. Thanks for joining us on The Answer Run today.
01:13We'll get to know you better as we go through the show, but it's time to get started.
01:17So, let's have a look at the three category pairs on offer in round one.
01:21They are Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Chicken, Egg, Brown, Grey.
01:28So, the only way to get the category you want is to win the race to the run.
01:35Otherwise, you could be stuck with something you don't want.
01:37If you buzz in with an incorrect answer, you'll be frozen out and the others can buzz in.
01:42The first team to give three correct answers will step up to the run and get their choice of category.
01:48Let's play Race to the Run.
01:53Fingers on buzzers. Here's your first question.

03:52Well, they never know.
03:53...to disappoint my dad that I can't answer it right.
03:56You're in control of the answer run, and that's the main thing, because you have got the choice of the categories.
04:02Here they are again.

04:34There are 15 questions.
04:35Correct answers add money to your pot.
04:37Incorrect answers take that money from your bank.

36:16Alex and Jake, come forward.

36:25A lot of work to do.
36:26Let's restart the clock.

36:57You weren't letting go of that control, were you?

37:11Like, because one's at school and one's, like...
37:14After university.
37:14After uni.
37:15Oh, right, so it just fell.
37:17What were you doing kind of, Alex?
37:18I remember singing Don't You in a really embarrassing way in high school.
37:21Yeah, I feel like a child or an adult experience.
37:23Alex and Jake, what do you think?
37:24If you'd have had control,
37:26do you think those questions would have fallen in your lap as well?
37:28I mean, I'm not sure, because I was born in 2005.
37:31Right.
37:31Off you go, Jake.
37:34Unbelievable.
37:34Why would you say something so cruel?
37:37I just don't know how I would have done with the earlier ones.
37:39But you'd have had Alex as well.
37:41Yeah, I wouldn't have got as many rides, so fantastic.
37:43Well, it's very magnanimous of you.

38:06Yeah, make it three.
38:08Thanks for playing, but congratulations to Niamh and Kirsty.
38:12Cheers, guys.
38:17Niamh and Kirsty, well done.
38:19You're here in the final.

38:26You've done really well.
38:27You've laughed all the way through.

38:31if you win today?
38:32A holiday.
38:33A holiday.
38:34Yeah, we were kind of in Patagonia,
38:35but we're open to something a little bit closer to home
38:39that's just going to go really hard on the swankiness.

38:42Fair enough.
38:43Where's the most exotic place you've ever been to?

38:53Let's hope we can get you on holiday together again today.
38:56It'd be great if we could.
38:57You're playing for a prize pot of £2,600.
39:00All that stands between you and that money
39:02is one final answer, huh?
39:04Simple.
39:05This time, when you give a correct answer,
39:08the question will turn into a gold block.
39:11You've got just 90 seconds to answer eight questions correctly in a row.
39:15Your stack will reach the jackpot line
39:17and you'll take home all your hard-earned cash.
39:21If at any point you answer incorrectly
39:23or if one of the questions hits the top of your stack,
39:26you'll start building a game from the bottom
39:29so your thinking time gets shorter the higher your stack gets.
39:33If at the end of 90 seconds you reach the halfway line,
39:36we'll give you half of your prize pot.
39:38Let's see your all-important final choice of categories.
39:43We've got Scotland, Wales, Sophie, Sarah.
39:48I feel like this is going to be a patriotic disaster
39:53if we do Scotland, Wales.
39:55But I'm not very good at people.
39:57Yeah, we should probably just do Scotland, Wales.
39:58Let's try Scotland, Wales.
39:59Just do a national apology.
40:01It'll be fine.
40:04It's going to be sport questions.

40:11that you would at least...
40:12Yeah, we've been in Scotland.
40:15Yeah, and we're all in Scotland right now, yeah.
40:19So we're going to go Scotland and Wales?
40:20Yeah, why not?
40:21Why not, indeed.
40:22All right, let's prep the answer on.
