00:00The new football season is well and truly back.
00:03There's new kits, there's new managers,
00:05even a new Premier League theme song.
00:07But not everything is brand new.
00:09What about the players who are stuck at the same club?
00:12The ones who didn't move?
00:13Today, we're diving into five players
00:15who could have moved on this summer,
00:17where they could have gone to,
00:19and why the move hasn't happened yet.
00:21Public Pink is here with 442.
00:23Let's talk about it.
00:27Starting things off in Bergamo, Italy,
00:29with a player I've always been a massive fan of personally,
00:33and that is Ademona Lukman.
00:35Now, firstly, it's important to note
00:37Lukman wants nothing to do with Atalanta anymore.
00:40In fact, he wasn't even training with the first team
00:42until earlier on in the week.
00:44But let's rewind back to the 3rd of August, 2025.
00:48Lukman released an absolute bombshell of a statement
00:52accusing Atalanta of, and I quote,
00:55poor treatment as a human,
00:57whilst stating his wishes to call it a day in Bergamo
01:00and move on to the next stage in his career.
01:03Supposedly, Lukman was promised
01:05he could join Inter Milan at a certain price,
01:08and Atalanta broke that promise.
01:10Sounds a bit similar to the ESAC-Newcastle saga,
01:12but we're not going to touch on that today.
01:14We need a break from him.
01:15We've had enough.
01:15So why no move?
01:17Simple.
01:18Atalanta were not budging.
01:19They wanted their 50 million euros.
01:22Straight up, no bonuses,
01:24no clever loan-to-buy wise guy schemes,
01:27and Inter came close.
01:2840 million here, 42 plus a few incentives there,
01:32but it just wasn't enough.
01:33And as the days ticked by,
01:35Lukman got a bit restless,
01:36a bit frustrated,
01:38and in the end, very vocal.
01:39He skipped training,
01:41deleted Atalanta posts from his socials,
01:43changed his profile picture to black,
01:45and made it very clear to everyone
01:47that his patience had efficiently run out.
01:50Inter, meanwhile, started to rethink.
01:52The man they chased so eagerly
01:54suddenly felt less urgent.
01:56Other targets popped up,
01:57and slowly, Lukman's dream move began to fade.
02:01Negotiations stalled, egos collided,
02:03and what once felt inevitable simply evaporated.
02:07Pretty gutted for Lukman, if I'm honest.
02:09He's done pretty much everything he can for Atalanta.
02:12It was the heartbeat of their Europa League success,
02:14scoring one of the most insane hat-tricks
02:17I've ever witnessed live in the final,
02:19bringing home their first trophy since,
02:22I think it was 1963,
02:24wrote himself in the history books of the club
02:26till the end of time.
02:28And now, 27 years old,
02:29he rightfully feels like it might be time
02:31to take that next step.
02:33And what's really frustrating from a fan's perspective is,
02:36if Lukman doesn't get a move at all,
02:38there are so many clubs in need of a left winger
02:40that he could slot into and make a proper impact.
02:42There's almost more point in naming the teams
02:45who don't need a left winger.
02:46I think he starts for so many teams in Europe,
02:49no question about it.
02:50For me, he's ready-made, proven in big games.
02:53He's got that fearlessness that you can't coach.
02:56Who doesn't love a direct winger
02:57who takes on his man and drags defenders out of shape?
03:00Personally, I want to see him come back to the Premier League
03:03and absolutely smash it.
03:05Atalanta, let the boy go.
03:07Let's pivot an hour's drive from Bergamo to Milan
03:11because if there's one player
03:12who always seems to be on the very brink
03:14of a Premier League move
03:15but never quite takes the plunge,
03:18it's Raphael Leal.
03:19Now, Leal has been at Milan since 2019
03:22and in modern football,
03:23that's practically a lifetime
03:25for someone that's made that much noise.
03:27Every summer, his name pops up,
03:28linked with Chelsea,
03:30whispers about Man United,
03:31Arsenal,
03:32even the odd shout that Pep Guardiola
03:34might fancy him at City.
03:36And you've got to ask yourself,
03:37why wouldn't that?
03:38He's got that ultra-rare blend of size,
03:41speed and skill.
03:42When he turns it on,
03:44he's on another planet.
03:45But I think that might be his problem,
03:47when he turns it on.
03:48I don't know if Leal turns it on enough.
03:50He's always been labelled a bit lazy,
03:52maybe too laid back.
03:54Would the intensity of the Premier League
03:56eat him up and spit him out?
03:58Here's the thing,
03:59Milan love him
03:59and they've fought tooth and nail to keep him.
04:01Big, fat new contract.
04:03Huge release clause of €175 million.
04:08Constant reassurances
04:09that he's the face of the project.
04:11And in fairness,
04:12he's repaid them.
04:13Serie A title in 2022,
04:16Champions League runs,
04:17big game performances.
04:18He's idolised in Milan,
04:20no question.
04:21But you can't help but wonder
04:22if he's hit his ceiling there.
04:2426 years old,
04:25he's entering his prime years.
04:27Does he want to be remembered
04:28as the same guy
04:29who lit up San Siro
04:31but never tested himself elsewhere?
04:33Or does he want to make the jump,
04:35become that marquee Premier League signing
04:37that everyone's been waiting for?
04:39This might be a long shot,
04:41but I look at Tottenham.
04:42They should be absolutely all over him.
04:44We know they've got the dough.
04:46They've just missed out
04:47on what would have been their marquee signing.
04:49They need to somehow replace Son.
04:51Levy,
04:52get your hands out your pockets
04:53and make a statement.
04:55At the end of the day,
04:56as mentioned,
04:56he's adored by Milan
04:58and they're not going to give him up easily.
05:00That's the tricky part.
05:01So for now,
05:02he'll most probably remain at the San Siro
05:03with his future hanging in the balance.
05:06It's one of them stories
05:06that keep popping up every summer,
05:09tantalising,
05:10tad frustrating
05:10and never quite resolving.
05:13And as a football fan,
05:14you can't help but wonder when
05:15or if
05:16he'll finally make that leap.
05:18Right then,
05:19enough in Italy.
05:20Let's shift our focus
05:21from Milan to the Midlands
05:22and talk about another big name
05:24who was this close to a move
05:26but seemingly ended up staying put.
05:28The one and only
05:29Emi Martinez.
05:31Now,
05:31Emi's been practically glued
05:33to the sticks at Villa since 2020.
05:35He's lifted the Yashin Trophy twice,
05:37won a cheeky World Cup with Argentina
05:39and in fairness,
05:40still widely regarded
05:42as one of the best goalkeepers
05:43on the planet.
05:44Here's where things get interesting.
05:46Having been a world-class servant,
05:48done what he needed to do,
05:49Villa were happy to listen to offers
05:51but only if the right one came in.
05:53We saw the very telling emotional farewell
05:56he gave Villa fans
05:57after their final home game last season
05:59looked as though it was a certain goodbye
06:01till next time
06:02but as of today,
06:04he ain't gone nowhere.
06:05I was 99% sure
06:07he was signing for one club
06:09and one club only.
06:10And that
06:11is Manchester United.
06:13He would fit like a glove.
06:15See what I did there?
06:16Look,
06:16it's no secret
06:17they have a goalkeeping crisis.
06:19Half the fan base
06:20don't rate their number one,
06:21Oh, no, no,
06:21and the whole fan base
06:23don't rate their number two,
06:24by India.
06:25United
06:25have done some excellent business this summer.
06:28Got their main man,
06:29Cescou and Buomo Cunha both looked so fluid
06:32and ready to roar against Arsenal.
06:34But if you ain't got a proper,
06:35reliable goalkeeper in between the sticks,
06:38it could very much amount to nothing
06:40as we saw.
06:41Supposedly,
06:42Amorim's desire to buy him outright
06:43was rejected from the board.
06:45They wanted to prioritise an attack,
06:47hence their three main signings.
06:49So they opted to go for him on loan,
06:51which was of course rejected by Villa.
06:53Would make little to no sense
06:54letting him go
06:55without funds for a replacement.
06:57For 40 to 50 million quid,
06:59which in fairness would make him,
07:01I think,
07:01the fourth most expensive goalkeeper
07:03of all time,
07:04I can't help but think,
07:05it's a no-brainer.
07:07We know what Emi's about.
07:08He brings consistency.
07:10He wins you games of football.
07:12Big character in the dressing room.
07:13He's exactly the kind of bloke
07:15to transform their defence
07:16from shaky to half-solid.
07:19And at 32,
07:20he's in his prime.
07:21And United's situation
07:22screams out
07:23for someone of his pedigree.
07:25It's the sort of move
07:26where everyone wins.
07:28Emi gets the biggest stage he craves.
07:30United get that stability
07:31that they so desperately need.
07:33And fans finally have someone
07:35they can trust between the sticks.
07:37Let's travel to London next up.
07:39And Christopher Nkunku's time at Chelsea
07:41feels like a story
07:43still in its mid-season cliffhanger.
07:45Flashes of brilliance,
07:46moments of frustration,
07:48and now the unmistakable signs
07:50that the end may be near.
07:52While the French forward
07:53hasn't moved yet,
07:54Chelsea's squad evolution
07:55strongly suggests
07:57that a departure is imminent.
07:59The rivals of Liam Delap
08:00and Jamie Bino-Gittens
08:01highlight this shift,
08:03with both newcomers
08:04giving Chelsea even more depth
08:06amongst their plethora of options
08:08in the final third.
08:09Despite this,
08:10Nkunku remains
08:11a highly attractive asset
08:12to any club willing
08:13to accommodate his style.
08:15He is football's
08:16Swiss army knife,
08:17capable of drifting
08:18between midfield and attack,
08:20exploiting half spaces
08:21and combining goal scoring
08:22with creative playmaking.
08:24At Leipzig,
08:25he was one of Europe's
08:26most productive forwards.
08:28And even in his
08:28stop-start Chelsea tenure,
08:30he has shown glimpses
08:31of that same unpredictability
08:33and intelligence on the ball.
08:35And any team looking
08:36for an attacker
08:37who can create opportunities
08:38out of nothing,
08:39forced defenders
08:40into guessing games
08:41would benefit enormously from him.
08:43As for his potential destinations,
08:45though,
08:45I can only really present
08:46three strong ideas.
08:48Firstly,
08:49Bayern Munich could use him
08:50as a link-up behind Harry Kane,
08:52giving their attack fluidity
08:53while retaining structure.
08:55Having lost Thomas Müller
08:56over the summer
08:57and Musiala to injury,
08:59unfortunately,
09:00it seems like a great fit for me.
09:01Secondly,
09:02PSG could slam him
09:03into the attacking
09:04midfield interface,
09:06providing creativity
09:07and goals,
09:08all while marketing
09:09a French star
09:10in a team
09:10rebuilding Post and Mbappe.
09:12Then there's a romantic option,
09:14a return to RB Leipzig,
09:16the club where he first
09:17became a superstar,
09:19has both emotional appeal
09:20and a tactical setup
09:22that perfectly suits
09:23his roaming,
09:24unpredictable style.
09:26For fans and players alike,
09:27a reunion could be
09:28both strategic and sentimental.
09:31A real chance for Nkunku
09:32to reignite his career
09:34where it all began.
09:36Now this is a controversial one.
09:38A player I cannot quite believe
09:40still plays for the club he's at.
09:42And not just that,
09:43contracted to that club
09:44until 2030.
09:47And that player
09:47is Bournemouth's diamond,
09:49Antoine Semenya.
09:51No discredit to Bournemouth,
09:52I think they are one of the best-run clubs
09:54in the Premier League.
09:55But I can't fathom
09:56how he signed his life away to them
09:58for the next five years.
10:00Giza can walk into most sides
10:01on the planet.
10:02Well, maybe not that far,
10:03might be a bit of a stretch.
10:04But just look at what he did
10:05at Anfield.
10:06That weren't a one-off either.
10:08He's been consistently performing
10:09at the highest level
10:10for about two years now.
10:12So explosive,
10:14so direct.
10:14And what I love about Semenya
10:15is his unpredictability
10:17and dare I say selfishness.
10:19Look at his second goal
10:20against Liverpool.
10:21Used both options either side
10:23as decoys
10:23and went alone.
10:25You don't know
10:25if he's going to pull the trigger,
10:26when he's going to pull the trigger.
10:28For me,
10:28he's borderline world-class
10:30and I can't help but think
10:31he should be at a club
10:32competing on all fronts.
10:34Bournemouth have been clever.
10:35They've locked him down,
10:37priced him sky-high
10:38and basically said,
10:39if you want him,
10:40you've got to pay up properly.
10:42And the big clubs
10:42have all circled,
10:43they've all admired.
10:44But no one's had the bottle
10:45to drop that big bid.
10:47Not yet anyway.
10:48But here's the truth.
10:49Semenya's ceiling
10:50is way too high for him
10:51to stay on the south coast forever.
10:53The contract just means
10:54Bournemouth get a payday
10:55when the moment comes.
10:57And believe me,
10:58I think it's coming.
10:59Comment down below
11:00a player you think
11:01should have got a move
11:01this summer but didn't.
11:03I still can't believe
11:04Semenya is a Bournemouth player.
11:06Anyway,
11:06thank you all for watching.
11:07Till next week.
