00:06stage. For Argentinian couple Aldana Silveira and Diego Ortega, this is a moment they have
00:14long dreamed of. Taking home the title in the preeminent Salon category at the World
00:21Tango Championships.
00:23This was a dream we had as kids. We wanted to fulfil it. It was difficult because the
00:29level of tango now was very high, but we gave it our best and we did it.
00:35Every August, dancers from around the world take part in the Tango World Cup in Buenos Aires,
00:41the birthplace of tango. It was developed here by poorer communities and immigrant neighbourhoods
00:47in the late 19th century. This year, the city hosted dancers from over 50 countries, including
00:54Colombia, Russia, South Korea and Indonesia, with over 2,000 artists participating in concerts
01:01and dance classes.
01:02Silveira and Ortega have competed for five years. They never gave up and have now been
01:09rewarded for their determination.
