00:00I watched all episodes of Demon Slayer, and here are 102 facts you didn't know.
00:05Beginning with this weird detail about Tanjiro's hands.
00:08At the beginning of the show, Tanjiro was so weak, my grandma could have beaten him in a fight.
00:12And this didn't change until he went through his Demon Slayer training.
00:16Here are his hands before training, and here they are after his training.
00:20A tiny detail that nobody noticed.
00:22And it's not that surprising that Tanjiro went so hard on his training,
00:25because, well, he's got nothing else to do.
00:28His family's dead.
00:29But his dead family actually made a secret cameo.
00:32See, during the Mugen Train movie, a random kid enters Tanjiro's subconscious using his dark demon arcs.
00:39Once inside, the kid meets these six flames that guide him around.
00:42Most people thought the flames were a reference to Tanjiro's sun-breathing ability.
00:46Ahem, no.
00:48The flames represent Tanjiro's family, his mother, four younger siblings, and Nezuko.
00:53And speaking of Nezuko, did you know she's actually won a world record?
00:56Think about it.
00:57She's a demon who joined the Demon Slayer core.
01:01Here's a recreation of how this happened.
01:03Yo, is it cool if my sister joins the core?
01:06Of course!
01:08She's a demon.
01:09But, uh, Nezuko isn't the only one setting records, because Demon Slayer has set tons of them, too.
01:19With fight scenes like this.
01:23And this.
01:24Get it out!
01:25Get off me, you brats!
01:26I'm not surprised that Demon Slayer has taken home so many awards.
01:31And because of that quality, you'd think the animation costs a fortune.
01:34But I did the math, and their budget comes down to around $80,000 per episode.
01:40And that's not actually a ton of money.
01:42Dragon Ball's budget is double, and their episodes still look bad.
01:46But Demon Slayer was definitely saving up money, because in 2020, they spent $16 million on their first movie.
01:54And this movie made so much money, it broke records.
01:57The previous record was $395 million earned by Spirited Away, a 2001 movie.
02:03But Demon Slayer walked right in and obliterated them, because they smashed the record, earning over half a billion dollars.
02:12And it doesn't stop there, because they set a record in a whole other category.
02:16In 2020, Demon Slayer became the top-selling manga, beating One Piece and Jutsu Kaisen, with over 150 million copies in a single year.
02:25That's the equivalent to 50 billion yen, or around $385 million.
02:30But even those millions couldn't stop them from making the worst mistake in anime history.
02:36See, going back to 2016, when Demon Slayer was first blowing up, there was a huge mystery surrounding Inosuke's face reveal.
02:43Because up till that point, nobody knew what he looked like.
02:46And you can bet there was a ton of hype behind it.
02:48But by accident, the face reveal got ruined.
02:51See, Demon Slayer released a mini-comic at the end of one of their volumes.
02:54And it was just supposed to be a goofy story, but the editor accidentally showed Inosuke's face,
03:00MONTHS, before it would be revealed in the manga.
03:03People got so angry that Demon Slayer's author was forced to release an official apology about the whole situation.
03:10I made a mistake by showing Inosuke's face in a comic strip.
03:12I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize.
03:15I'm under strict time constraints, and so I make mistakes.
03:18I'll be working as hard as I can, so I hope you'll stick with me.
03:21Now, you can't fix Inosuke's ruined face reveal, but luckily, he's got tons of other secrets.
03:26Like, did you know Inosuke shares a voice actor with the main character from Sword Art Online?
03:30And actually make that two voice actors, since they have the same voice in both Japanese and English.
03:35Which is crazy, since the characters are so different.
03:38In fact, their only similarity is that they both dual-wield swords.
03:41But this thing makes their dual-wielding look like a kid's toy,
03:44because it wields one, two, three, four, five, six different swords.
03:50And the secret behind it is kind of crazy.
03:54This thing's name is Yorichi Type Zero, and it's made to copy the fighting style of the legendary Demon Slayer.
03:59The thing is, Yorichi was such a beast that two arms wouldn't be enough to copy his moves, even for a machine.
04:04So they added four more arms, and the battle doll still isn't even half as strong as Yorichi.
04:10Yeah, Yorichi's a beast, but so is the creator of Demon Slayer.
04:13And despite having invented the most popular manga in the world,
04:17the only thing we know about them is their name, Gotage.
04:20But this didn't stop them from making history,
04:23because they made the list of the Time 100's most influential people.
04:27Gotage is the only anonymous person, and the only mangaka, to ever make this list.
04:32Now, if there was a list for the scariest characters in Demon Slayer,
04:35Onosuke would probably insist on being at the top.
04:38And I'm saying this because I discovered one of his deepest, darkest secrets.
04:41See, while I was going through a chapter released back in 2019,
04:44I realized this is what Onosuke looks like, but he thinks he looks like this?
04:49Check this dude out!
04:51No wonder he's always yelling at people.
04:53But learning all these secrets made me start asking questions.
04:56Demons are always chomping down on humans, so what if the opposite happened?
05:01Well, I found the answer in the manga,
05:03and it turns out there's only one person in the show that's capable of having a demon snack.
05:08Genya.
05:08The manga explains that he's the only person with a strong enough jaw and immune system to eat a demon.
05:13So if another person tried to eat a demon, they would break their jaw.
05:17And even if they could somehow chomp it up, it would end up destroying their internal organs.
05:22I think I'll pass on that one.
05:24But there's another even smaller, hidden, weeny-teeny detail that I noticed in the manga.
05:30See, after Rengoku's death, the hilt of his sword is given to Tanjiro.
05:33And you can see it on Tanjiro's sword in chapter 129.
05:36But what's very odd is that if you compare that hilt to Rengoku's way back when he was still alive,
05:41you'll notice that Tanjiro has the hilt on backwards.
05:44The flames on his sword face away from the opponent,
05:47while the flames on Rengoku's face towards the opponent.
05:50Now, Demon Slayer's author hasn't revealed why,
05:52but my theory is that it symbolizes Tanjiro's different fighting style.
05:56He doesn't use flame breathing, he uses sun breathing.
05:59But there's one mystery that I have solved.
06:01Demon Slayer's blue spider lily.
06:03See, the lily has the power to turn humans into demons, but nobody's been able to find it.
06:07After doing some research, I found out that it's actually based on a real-life plant.
06:11The plant is actually a red spider lily, which represents death in Japanese culture.
06:16But in Demon Slayer, the blue spider lilies were what saved Muzan from dying.
06:20Talk about a plot twist!
06:21Have you ever wondered how the ranks in the Demon Slayer core work?
06:24Most people probably forget, but there are 11 ranks.
06:26The lowest being Mizunoto, and the highest being Hashira.
06:29If you want to move up through the ranks, you have to complete missions and kill demons.
06:33And to become a Hashira, you either have to kill 50 demons or one demon moon.
06:38Now, all these Slayers are using concentration breathing,
06:40but did you know it was actually inspired by a real-life medical technique called box breathing?
06:44Here's how it works.
06:45Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold that breath for another 4 seconds,
06:49breathe out over 4 seconds, and then hold your empty lungs for at least 4 seconds.
06:54This technique gets your lungs tons of oxygen, helping you focus and relieve stress.
06:58It's so effective that even the military uses it.
07:01This is Funko Pop, and this is a Demon Slayer Funko Pop.
07:04And if you collect every single Demon Slayer figure,
07:06you would notice that some of them are special.
07:08The Funko Pops for Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Danitsu
07:11all come with a special base on the inner tab of the box,
07:14which most people never find because they leave the figure in the box.
07:18Now, one of the most hidden secrets took place before the manga was even created.
07:22See, back in 2013, Gotage hadn't even come up with Demon Slayer
07:26and was instead working on another manga called Kagari Gari.
07:29Gotage didn't know it, but that manga was just a rough draft of Demon Slayer.
07:33See, the original manga had two critical elements.
07:36The first was Kagari Gari's main character.
07:38He kinda looks like Tanjiro, but that's where the similarities ended.
07:41This guy was super edgy, and a lot of fans hated that.
07:45So Gotage learned from this mistake and realized a wholesome character would be much more popular.
07:50The second element was even more important, a rough draft of Muzan,
07:53the guy who started Tanjiro's journey in the first place.
07:56Just two pages in, you can see his early design.
07:58He's dressed the exact same way and was even named Muzan back then.
08:02It's crazy that three years before Demon Slayer was written,
08:05Gotage had already created the main antagonist.
08:08Let's fast forward to 2019,
08:10because when Demon Slayer was transitioning into an anime,
08:12the production team secretly made a controversial change.
08:15And they did this because there was one thing about the manga that they didn't like,
08:19the narration.
08:20See, these extra panels share important information from a narrator's POV,
08:24but the production team didn't want to include a narrator since it would feel out of place in the anime.
08:28So they removed the extra panels, and in the process, lots of important details.
08:33The best example of this lost information is the demons meeting in Season 1.
08:37In the anime, we learn that Muzan can read the minds of his demons,
08:40but three other pieces of information were deleted and only shown in the manga.
08:44First, everything that the demons see or hear is sent back to Muzan.
08:47That's why he can read the demons' thoughts.
08:49Second, Muzan can also share his memories with demons.
08:53Third, Muzan can track the locations of his demons,
08:56but three of them have been able to break this curse.
08:58Tamayo, Yoshido, and Nezuko.
09:00Sadly, Rengoku hasn't been able to break his curse that affects his entire bloodline.
09:06This ridiculous hair that's been passed down through the generations.
09:10Rengoku claims that it's because his ancestors ate a lot of shrimp tempura,
09:13but I'm not too sure about that one,
09:15because the moms in the Rengoku family do some crazy things.
09:19Whenever a woman in the family is pregnant,
09:21they spend two hours staring directly at a flaming torch every week.
09:25This would explain why everyone in Rengoku's family is so good at flame breathing.
09:30Muichiro hasn't been as lucky with his family.
09:32While Rengoku's ancestors just ate a ton of shrimp,
09:35Muichiro's ancestor was Kokushibo, the first demon moon.
09:39Definitely not something he's very proud of.
09:41But Muichiro isn't the only Hashira with a connection to one of the demon moons,
09:45because Shinobu's relationship with a certain demon is personal.
09:49And that's because this guy killed her older sister.
09:53Literally, her whole reason for being a demon slayer is to kill Doma.
09:56She's a lot like Gyomei in that way,
09:58because Gyomei got done dirty by one of the demon moons.
10:02See, he used to run an orphanage until one of the kids invited a demon over.
10:06That kid ended up becoming the demon moon Kaigaku.
10:09Man, Gyomei's whole life got turned upside down by one dumb kid.
10:13Did you know that Demon Slayer lied to you about Tanjiro?
10:16When Tanjiro's blade first turned black,
10:18Sakonji and Hagenazuka were shocked and a little scared,
10:21because according to ancient lore,
10:23demon slayers with black blades died early and struggled with learning breathing styles.
10:27Tanjiro was freaked out by this,
10:29but the truth is that demon slayers with black blades
10:31are actually the most talented swordsman in the world.
10:34It only seems like they lack skill because they have trouble learning a normal breathing style.
10:37And the reason they have trouble with it
10:39is because they're supposed to learn the most powerful breathing style called sun breathing.
10:43And next, let's talk about why Tanjiro's demon slayer mark is actually going to kill him.
10:47See, everybody believes that once you unlock a demon slayer mark,
10:50you become a lot more powerful,
10:52but you're also going to die before the age of 25.
10:55This is commonly called the curse of the demon slayer mark,
10:57but after tons of research, I realized that everybody was wrong.
11:01It's not really a curse.
11:02See, the marks allow demon slayers to use more power,
11:05but at the expense of their own health.
11:07So if a demon slayer uses the mark too many times,
11:10they'll cause their body to quickly deteriorate and pass away early.
11:13Dang, that's just crazy.
11:15But not as crazy as our next point,
11:17because did you know that Tanjiro's sword secretly appeared in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga?
11:21In one of the latest chapters of JJK,
11:23a bad guy is running around the city looking for a katana.
11:26He breaks into a child's room and sees a box of toys.
11:29And inside that box is a toy version of Tanjiro's katana.
11:32The dope part is that when you press a button on the sword,
11:35Tanjiro's voice says,
11:36First form, water surface splash.
11:39That's so cool.
11:40But listen, Tanjiro isn't just good at fighting because he's the main character.
11:43He's actually a secret fighting prodigy.
11:46See, Tanjiro became a better swordsman than Sabito in just six months.
11:51And Sabito was definitely not a weak demon slayer.
11:54He trained side by side with the water Hashira Gyu,
11:57and actually saved Gyu's life a couple times.
11:59But Tanjiro is even more talented than that because he's the only demon slayer alive
12:04that can use two different breathing styles, water and sun breathing.
12:08So where do Tanjiro's secret fighting skills come from?
12:11Well, if you trace his lineage,
12:12you'll find that one of Tanjiro's ancestors was given the secret of sun breathing by Yorichi,
12:17the original sun breather.
12:18And that's pretty cool.
12:19But I was even more excited after discovering Tanjiro's top secret fighting moves.
12:24See, there's a demon slayer video game that came out in 2021.
12:27And in it, Tanjiro has three unique skill moves that have never been shown in the anime.
12:32The first two moves look pretty boring, but the third one is insane.
12:36It's called Phoenix Flash and looks like this.
12:39But something that's even more secret than those killer moves is the meaning of Tanjiro's name.
12:43If you look at his name in Japanese kanji, the tan means charcoal,
12:46the ji means heal, and the ro translates to sun.
12:49The charcoal in his name just stands for what Tanjiro's job was before he became a demon slayer.
12:53He used to turn wood into charcoal and then sell it to local villages.
12:57But what does heal or ji in his name stand for?
12:59It's never been confirmed, but I think it symbolizes the journey he's on to try and heal his sister.
13:04He is trying to turn her back into a human after all.
13:06And listen, it sucks that Nezuko is a demon,
13:08but one thing she doesn't have to worry about is people saying her name right.
13:12Because Onosuke over here has literally never correctly said Tanjiro's name.
13:16So far in the anime, Onosuke is called Tanjiro, Gantachiro Kamaboko,
13:20Gengarou Shakuriki, and eight other pronunciations of his name.
13:24You also can't forget the time Tanjiro was a raccoon named Tanjiro in a dream that Onosuke had.
13:29Man, Onosuke really sucks at names.
13:32And I'm surprised that Tanjiro isn't more annoyed because I'd be insulted if one of my best friends forgot my name.
13:38It's not even half as bad as what you does to Tanjiro on the daily.
13:43See, Tanjiro has to travel a lot to slay demons.
13:46And because the iPhone 14 Mini Pro Max isn't out yet,
13:50he has to settle for a much slower way of communicating.
13:52He sent letters to his water Hashira master, Yodoro's little brother, Tatangan,
13:57but Gyu is the only person who's never responded to any letters.
14:01I get that Gyu's a man of few words,
14:03but he should at least have the courtesy to respond to a letter, right?
14:06But maybe Gyu never responds to the letters because he hates how stinky Tanjiro is.
14:10As you can see, the official fanbook of Demon Slayer revealed that Tanjiro barely ever takes off his earrings.
14:15They've been handed down from father to son all the way from the original Demon Slayer, Yorichi.
14:19Because of this, Tanjiro has the oldest, nastiest earrings in the world
14:23and only takes them off when they start itching too much.
14:27Gross.
14:27But we gotta talk about sad backstories because there's a running joke
14:31that every single demon in Demon Slayer has one.
14:33And Tanjiro always starts crying when the defeated demon shares their story.
14:37But why is he so empathetic?
14:38It's not just an annoying character flaw.
14:40The reason he cares so much about demons is because Nezuko is one.
14:44He understands that demons aren't necessarily horrible people,
14:47and Nezuko is living proof of that.
14:49Tanjiro's empathy might be annoying to you and me,
14:51but there's one good thing that comes out of it.
14:53Pretty much every eligible young lady in the show has fallen in love with him.
14:57And he's actually kind of a playboy,
14:59because while Tanjiro ends up marrying Kanao,
15:01a couple other girls were interested in him too.
15:03Aoi loved Tanjiro, but when she noticed that Kanao was head over heels,
15:06she changed things up and went after Inosuke instead.
15:09I wonder what Inosuke would say if he realized he got Tanjiro's dirty leftovers.
15:13And to be honest, he'd probably get extremely angry.
15:17But Inosuke's anger would only be 1% of the anger that Tanjiro felt when he first met Muzan.
15:23See, this scene is special because it's the first time we get to see Tanjiro's full anger.
15:27You've got to remember that his entire family was killed by the Demon King,
15:31and Nezuko was turned into a demon by him.
15:33Even worse, it's technically Muzan's fault every time that a demon kills one of Tanjiro's friends.
15:38And this is a good reminder that Tanjiro wants to turn his sister back into a human,
15:42but he also wants to avenge his family and friends.
15:44Let's switch things up.
15:45Did you know that a ton of Japanese parents hate Tanjiro's guts?
15:50I'm betting you didn't, but Tanjiro is so popular with Japanese kids that parents are starting to get scared.
15:55You see, the results of a 2020 study showed that Japanese kids admire Tanjiro the most,
15:59even more than their parents.
16:01If my kids said they listened up to an anime character more than me,
16:04I'd take away their iPad until they got married, because that's just wild.
16:08But what's even more wild is Tanjiro's sense of smell.
16:11Before you say,
16:11Oh, Emoto, I already know all about his nose.
16:14I guarantee you only know 1% of the insane things his nose can do.
16:19First, Tanjiro's sense of smell is so good that he was able to recognize Muzan's scent
16:23two years after his family was killed.
16:26But it gets even crazier because Tanjiro's sense of smell is so great,
16:30he can sense people's true intentions.
16:32That's right, he can smell your emotions.
16:34In fact, he was able to sense Shinobu's hatred of demons even when she was trying to hide it.
16:39But the most insane thing that his nose can smell is the future.
16:43I'm not going to spoil it, but in the Swordsmith arc,
16:46Tanjiro trains so hard that he brings his nose to a whole new level.
16:51Tanjiro's nose is also his biggest weakness, because if he gets a stuffy nose,
16:55he wouldn't be able to smell your intentions or the future.
16:58But Tanjiro has another weakness, and it's hilarious.
17:02He can't keep a straight face while lying.
17:04I mean, look at his face.
17:06If he tried to lie to me, I would know in an instant.
17:09And listen, that's sad and all, but it's nothing compared to how angry Tanjiro made this guy feel.
17:15See, Haganazuka has no life, no wife, no girlfriend.
17:18The only thing he loves in the world is the swords he makes for Demon Slayers.
17:22So when Tanjiro broke not one, not two, but three of his swords,
17:26Haganazuka was ready to end Tanjiro's life.
17:29But I think everything worked out, because the fourth sword that Tanjiro gets
17:33is like 9,000 times more powerful than his previous two swords combined.
17:37See, it's made by combining the hilt from Rengoku's old sword
17:40and the blade from his ancestor Yorichi's sword.
17:42I bet Haganazuka loved working on that sword, because those two pieces fused to make one
17:47of the strongest swords out there.
17:49And listen, Tanjiro gets into some crazy fights with that sword, but let's remember that he
17:53wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for this character.
17:56Yeah, that's right.
17:57You don't remember this dude, even though he's the whole reason Tanjiro became a Demon Slayer.
18:03See, way back in the very first episode, Tanjiro traveled down to the village to sell charcoal
18:07to the villagers.
18:08It took him a while to sell everything he had, so by the time he was done,
18:11it was already getting dark out.
18:13Now Tanjiro wanted to go back up the mountain to join his family,
18:16but this man, Mr. Saburo, warned him not to.
18:18Saburo's family had been killed by demons during the night,
18:21so he invited Tanjiro to sleep over.
18:22Tanjiro nearly declined, but after a bit of convincing, he accepted Saburo's offer.
18:26The crazy part here is that if Mr. Saburo hadn't convinced Tanjiro to stay in the village overnight,
18:31Tanjiro would have joined his family just in time for Muzan's dinner.
18:35Then, the only surviving person would have been Nezuko,
18:37but she would have died shortly after because Giyu would have found her and ended her.
18:41And that fight between Giyu and Nezuko would probably be so graphic that it would need to be censored.
18:46But I get the feeling that Demon Slayer's author hates the demons because she treats them so badly.
18:51See, Demon Slayer has 23 manga volumes, which all show a different character on their covers.
18:56Out of 23, only two feature a villain, and both times, it's Muzan.
19:01I get that he's the main antagonist, but dang, I feel bad for the demon moons.
19:05Not getting featured on the front page kind of blows.
19:08So here is every demon moon, and I'm going to be explaining each of their backstories.
19:13Starting with the demon who killed her husband after he sold her dress.
19:17This is the demon moon Nakime, and this instrument caused her to end her own husband.
19:23See, Nakime lived a poor life because her husband always gambled away their wealth.
19:26One day, the husband took his addiction too far and ended up gambling away the dress that Nakime performed in.
19:32He begged her for forgiveness, but this time, he had gone too far.
19:36In a fit of rage, Nakime grabbed a hammer and ended her husband.
19:40Before she could even hide the body, her manager knocked at the door and said,
19:44Nakime, it's time to perform.
19:46She grabbed her instrument and took to the stage, nervous because she was poorly dressed.
19:50But to her surprise, the crowd loved her music.
19:53They ended up chanting for an encore, and from that moment on,
19:56Nakime began murdering someone before each of her performances, believing that this gave her good luck.
20:01That is, until one performance where she made a deadly mistake, picking Muzan to be her next victim.
20:07She waited till he was alone and hit him with a hammer, but he turned around completely unhurt.
20:12Muzan was so impressed by her hammer skills that he decided to turn her into a demon.
20:16Now, Nakime might have killed her husband, but the next Kizuki,
20:19Hantangu, took things even further by marrying and ending seven different women.
20:23It all started when he was a child, because Hantangu was a pathological liar who always found a way to blame others for his mistakes.
20:31And things got worse as he grew up, because he went from lying to murdering people.
20:35See, Hantangu would marry someone, have kids with them,
20:38then he'd convince himself that he was being mistreated and kill his entire family.
20:43He managed to do this seven times before he was finally captured and sentenced to death by decapitation.
20:49It seemed like he was finally getting the punishment he deserved, until Muzan arrived and turned him into the demon we know today.
20:55Next, we have Akaza, the dude who turned Rengoku into a donut.
20:58But he wasn't always like this.
21:00See, Akaza was a criminal who roamed the streets, beating up anyone who looked at him.
21:05Talk about insecure.
21:06And when he challenged the dojo master, Keizo, to a fight, Akaza expected an easy win.
21:11But instead, he got his butt whooped.
21:13The master invited Akaza to his dojo, and he quickly became a talented martial artist.
21:18While there, Akaza fell in love with his master's sickly daughter, taking care of her when he wasn't training.
21:23Things went well, and for the first time in his life, Akaza fell at home, eventually marrying the daughter.
21:29But things wouldn't stay happy for long.
21:31While Akaza was out of town, a jealous man at another dojo decided to get revenge.
21:36See, he had been in love with Akaza's wife, and when she got married, he was so angry, he poisoned her water well.
21:42Both the dojo master and the daughter died.
21:44And when Akaza returned, he went insane.
21:48Going on a mad rampage and killing the jealous man's entire dojo with his bare hands.
21:53It was such a massacre that it even caught the attention of Muzan.
21:56He investigated the crime scene, expecting one of his demons to be the culprit, but was shocked to see a human.
22:01Muzan turned him into a demon, and Akaza quickly became the upper moon rank 3.
22:06Now, Akaza almost changed his ways.
22:08Unlike Doma, who did horrible things even as a kid.
22:11See, Doma was born with rainbow-colored eyes, causing his village to worship him and make him the leader of the Paradise Faith Cult, where he shared the knowledge of the gods.
22:19But there was just one problem.
22:22Doma was faking it all.
22:23The gods weren't actually talking to him, and he didn't even believe in them.
22:27Despite this, Doma pretended to hear from the gods, but eventually everything came crashing down.
22:32His mom had been slowly going insane, and one day, she snapped, killing her husband and then herself.
22:38Any normal kid would have been traumatized, but not Doma.
22:41In fact, his only reaction was to be annoyed, because his mom had made a bloody mess.
22:45Things only got worse, because after meeting Muzan, Doma asked to be turned into a demon, realizing that with his new powers, he could secretly eat his cult members and become extremely strong.
22:55Doma's cult and power continued to grow until the woman joined his cult and turned everything upside down.
23:01See, Kotaha had an evil husband, and with nowhere to go, she took her newborn son, Inosuke, and joined the cult.
23:07Things went well at first, but Kotaha began noticing that cult members were disappearing, and after spying on Doma, she discovered that he was eating the Paradise Faith members.
23:17When Doma caught her spying, Kotaha knew she was in danger.
23:20She grabbed her son and made a mad dash for her life, but unfortunately, she ran right into a dead end at the edge of a cliff.
23:26In her last moments, Kotaha accepted her fate, but refused to let her son die.
23:30With a leap of faith, she threw Inosuke off the cliff, praying that he would somehow end up all right.
23:35As we know, Inosuke was rescued and raised by boars, but Kotaha was eaten down to the bone.
23:41Ugh.
23:42While Doma had no excuse to be evil, Noko definitely did, because his childhood was so traumatic, he went insane.
23:49Yoko was born in a fishing village to a happy family, but when his parents washed ashore after disappearing on a fishing expedition, his life quickly deteriorated.
23:58The sight of his parents' bodies broke something in Yoko, causing him to fall in love with dead things, and he began a gross hobby of playing with dead fish.
24:05The villagers thought he was insane, so they kept their distance from him, but the village kids bullied him every chance they got.
24:11One day, the bullying went too far, and Yoko finally snapped, murdering his bully and then stuffing the body into a giant fishing pot.
24:18Yoko thought he was free of the bullying, but when the parents discovered their dead son, they gathered the entire village and stabbed Yoko with a bunch of fishing spears.
24:26Yoko lay on the sand for over 12 hours, waiting for the end to come, but instead, Muzan found him and turned him into a demon.
24:34After recovering, Yoko only remembered two things.
24:37Muzan had saved him, and humans were evil.
24:39As a demon, Yoko kept his strange obsession with fish and stuffed his victims into fish pots for later.
24:44But even as an evil fish demon, he doesn't look half as bad as Gyutaro, the ugliest demon of them all.
24:50You see, Gyutaro was born in the poorest part of the entertainment district, and he was so ugly that his mom hated him, beating him nearly every day.
24:58His life was even worse outside of home, because the entire town hated him too.
25:02With nobody taking care of him, he was forced to eat insects and mice just to survive.
25:07Gyutaro's life just sucked, but everything changed when his mother gave birth to Ume.
25:11With a little sister, Gyutaro felt a responsibility to be a protector, even protecting her from their abusive mother.
25:17One day, Gyutaro's mother took things too far and tried to shave all of Ume's hair off.
25:21Gyutaro jumped in, defended Ume, and then took his sister and left, leaving his mother alone forever.
25:27From this point on, Gyutaro raised Ume himself.
25:29He was very fond of his sister's looks, and she eventually became an entertainer.
25:33Here, Gyutaro found a calling as his sister's debt collector, leading the siblings to finally becoming successful.
25:39This happiness wouldn't last for long, because in just one day, the two lost everything.
25:44See, one of Ume's customers was a samurai.
25:47He was a little too pushy, so Ume decided to poke out the dude's eye in self-defense.
25:51The samurai was outraged and burned Ume alive.
25:54And when Gyutaro found his sister's burning body, he was devastated, crying and pleading for someone to save her.
26:00However, his prayers were only met with a swift cut to the back.
26:04Gyutaro turned around to see both the evil samurai and Ume's manager.
26:07Apparently, the manager had wanted to kill the siblings for a long time, and Ume's fight with the samurai finally gave the manager a good excuse.
26:14But things didn't go out as planned.
26:16Gyutaro grabbed his scythe, killing both the samurai and the manager.
26:20He then picked up the half-dead Ume and tried to find someone who would help her, but nobody did anything.
26:25Instead, a harsh snowstorm formed.
26:27Not even the weather was on Gyutaro's side.
26:29It was at this point that the two encountered Doma, the current upper moon six.
26:33He offered them the choice to become a demon, which Gyutaro immediately accepted.
26:37Man, the demon moons all had crappy lives.
26:40But Kaigaku was one of the worst, because he was a demon slayer who chose to become a demon.
26:45As a human, Kaigaku was an orphan, forced to live off of scraps just to survive.
26:49Everything changed for him when one day, he was taken in by Kuajima, the former Thunder Hashira.
26:54Kaigaku was trained in the way of Thunder Breathing, alongside Best Boy Zenitsu.
26:58But Kaigaku was kind of a bully, disrespecting anyone weaker than him.
27:02As he trained, Kaigaku became even meaner, because he couldn't master the first form
27:06of Thunder Breathing, no matter how hard he tried.
27:08On the other hand, Zenitsu could only use the first form of Thunder Breathing.
27:12This led to an odd dynamic between them, with Kaigaku hating Zenitsu, since he believed him
27:17to be a weak coward.
27:18So when the ex-Thunder Hashira announced that Kaigaku and Zenitsu would inherit Thunder Breathing,
27:23Kaigaku snapped.
27:24He left the dojo in a rage, which would end up as his biggest mistake.
27:28Shortly after leaving the dojo, Kaigaku came face-to-face with Kokushibo, the strongest
27:32demon moon, who offered him a choice between being killed or becoming a demon.
27:37Kaigaku's weak willpower gave way, and he agreed to become a demon, replacing Yuturo and
27:41Daki as the upper moon rank 6.
27:44Kind of crazy that he became a demon because he was a coward.
27:47But Kokushibo's similar, because his jealousy turned him into a demon.
27:51See, thousands of years ago, Kokushibo was just a kid training to become a master samurai.
27:55He was very talented, unlike his brother Yorichi, who was an outcast for having a weird marking
28:01on his face.
28:01But one day, while Kokushibo was training against his master, Yorichi asked if he could try.
28:06And after picking up the sword, he destroyed the sword master in one go.
28:09Everyone watching was shocked.
28:11And from that point on, Yorichi was treated like a celebrity, while Kokushibo was ignored.
28:16As an outcast, Kokushibo grew to resent his brother, wishing that Yorichi would just die.
28:21And in a way, his wish was granted, because Yorichi disappeared for the next 10 years.
28:26Kokushibo went on with his life and became a master samurai.
28:28But one night, his happy life was interrupted.
28:31See, while out on patrol, Kokushibo was attacked by demons.
28:34It seemed like he was about to die, but Yorichi came out of nowhere and saved him.
28:38Despite having saved his life, this was probably the worst day of Kokushibo's life.
28:42His jealousy came back even stronger, leading Kokushibo to abandon his samurai path to become
28:47a demon slayer.
28:47All he wanted was to surpass his brother, a goal that seemed impossible.
28:51Kokushibo trained hard and became one of the strongest demon slayers of his time.
28:55He unlocked the demon slayer mark and even became a Hashira.
28:57But despite all this, he still wasn't as strong as Yorichi and couldn't learn sun breathing.
29:02Instead, having to settle for moon breathing, a slightly weaker breathing style.
29:06Kokushibo raged at his weakness, but one day, he came face to face with the solution to all
29:10his problems.
29:11He met Muzan, the demon king, and finally saw a chance to surpass his brother by turning into
29:17a demon.
29:17Over the next 60 years, demon Kokushibo grew stronger, killing demon slayer after demon
29:22slayer.
29:23He assumed his brother was long dead, but Yorichi surprised him one last time by appearing in
29:28front of Kokushibo as an old man, still alive despite having the slayer mark.
29:32Kokushibo was furious and grabbed his sword, but before he could make a move, Yorichi had sliced
29:37open his throat.
29:38Kokushibo knew it was all over and braced himself for the killing blow.
29:42But when he opened his eyes, Yorichi had died right where he was standing.
29:46Enraged by a feeling of inferiority, Kokushibo slashed his brother's body in half and left,
29:51determined to become even stronger.
29:53Now, demon moons are just freaky, but I bet the Hashira have secrets even you don't know.
29:59Did you know that Tengen Azui's original design was supposed to look like this?
30:03He was way less muscular, had bandages covering his face, and also had sleeves covering his arms
30:08to apparently protect him from the sun. Tengen's design went from this to this,
30:12and I gotta say, I like the current design way better.
30:15And we can't talk about Tengen without bringing up his disgusting origin story.
30:19You've probably noticed that Tengen has not one, not two, but three wives,
30:23and that's because of the way his family raised him.
30:26Tengen was raised to be a ninja, or a shinobi, in Japanese.
30:29When he turned 15, his family chose three wives for him based on how compatible they were with his
30:34personality. And that's not even the worst part.
30:36Tengen had nine siblings and loved them all very much.
30:39But his dad was extremely strict and overtrained them all so much that three of Tengen's siblings
30:44died as kids. And even worse, Tengen's dad made all his kids fight to the death so that
30:49only the strongest child would survive. After fighting and killing two of his siblings,
30:53Tengen was disgusted with his father and left the family forever.
30:57But despite all this, Tengen learned a skill from his family that only one other person in the
31:01entire Demon Slayer anime has. This was his ability to use two swords.
31:05Besides Tengen and Inosuke, none of the Demon Slayers use two swords to fight.
31:10But let's move on to the next Hashira.
31:12Sanimi has a secret advantage when he's fighting demons that none of the other Hashira have.
31:17And it's all because he's a Marichi. In case you didn't know, Marichis are humans who have
31:21extremely rare blood, which makes their blood 10 times more flavorsome to demons.
31:26But because Sanimi is also Hashira, his blood is even rarer than a regular Marichi.
31:30And his mouthwateringly blood is so rare that demons will often become dizzy just by smelling
31:36it. This has allowed him to defeat extremely strong demons in the past because they're
31:40basically intoxicated. And I don't know if Sanimi is proud of how rare his blood is,
31:45but I definitely know that he is very proud of his muscles. It's because he's proud of them that
31:49he keeps his uniform open in the front so that everybody can see his crazy six pack. And later on,
31:54we reveal the reason that Mitsuri keeps her uniform open while Shinubo keeps it closed.
31:59But did you know that Muzan and Sanimi have two weird things in common?
32:03Both of them weigh the exact same and are the same height at 5'10". And just like Muzan,
32:08many, many people are afraid of Sanimi. In fact, Sanimi is the most feared member of the Hashira,
32:14which makes sense because he's scary looking. But let's talk about the strongest Hashira for a
32:20second. Did you know that Gyo-me once beat Inosuke headfirst into the ground? Inosuke being,
32:25well, Inosuke challenged Gyo-me to a fight and things didn't end very well for him.
32:30Unfortunately, this scene hasn't been animated yet, but I'm excited to see it in Season 3.
32:35And I wonder if we're going to see Gyo-me's favorite animal in Season 3.
32:39You see, several of the Hashira have favorite animals. For Obanai, I'm betting you can guess
32:44that it's snakes. For Mitsuri and Gyo-me, it's cats. But what does the strongest Hashira do when he's not
32:49out fighting demons? Well, Gyo-me has plenty of hobbies, but his favorite hobby is playing the
32:54flute. He first started playing it when he was a kid and fell in love with it. He played it for so
32:59long once that his grandma got annoyed and smacked him in the head with a broom. But let's talk about
33:04why Shinobu doesn't have an opening in her uniform while Mitsuri does. You see, Shinobu originally was
33:10supposed to have the same style uniform as Mitsuri, but when she saw how immodest the opening in the
33:15chest area was, she burned it right in front of the man who gave it to her. You go, girl!
33:20Before we get into why Mitsuri still has hers, let's talk about Shinobu and Mitsuri's weird
33:24relationship. While Shinobu and Mitsuri have different uniforms, they're actually really great
33:28friends. And one of the main reasons for this is probably because they're the only two female
33:33Hashira. Shinobu is able to talk to Mitsuri about her life, and Mitsuri teaches Shinobu how to cook.
33:38And if you remember from earlier, Mitsuri's favorite animals are cats, but Shinobu absolutely hates
33:44them. You see, she can't stand anything furry. And the reason for this isn't very clear, but that's
33:49why Shinobu's favorite animal is a goldfish. She has one as a pet, and its name is fugu. And if you
33:54google what the word fugu means, you'll actually discover an easter egg. But before I share this
33:59easter egg, we need to talk about something so it makes sense. Shinobu is extremely weak. She's
34:04actually the weakest Hashira, which is why she uses poison to kill demons rather than brute strength.
34:09But back to the word fugu. You'll find that is the name of a poisonous pufferfish. This fits
34:14extremely well with Shinobu because she uses poison to kill demons. And speaking of poison,
34:18at one point in the series, the amount of poison in Shinobu's body was 700 times the amount necessary
34:24to kill a demon. That means if a demon even gets a lick of her blood, they're probably dying right
34:29then and there. Obanai is one of the freakiest looking Hashira, but did you know that the author
34:33of Demon Slayer revealed that he's not very strong in terms of physical strength? But even crazier,
34:38Obanai's voice actor, Kenichi Suzumura, is actually married to another actor in the cast. He's married
34:44to Maya Sakamoto, who voices Tameo, the doctor trying to figure out a cure for demons. But while
34:50the voice actor loves Tameo, Obanai himself is crazy in love with one of the other Hashira.
34:55It's not Gyomei, and it definitely isn't Sanimi. It's Mitsuri. And before falling in love with Mitsuri,
35:01Obanai used to have an extreme fear of women. This is actually something that happens in the real world,
35:06and it's called Gynophobia. But he's scared of women because as a child, he was raised by a woman
35:11who sacrificed all his siblings and cousins to a demon for money and power. And he also began to
35:17hate women when he saw how weak the female Demon Slayers were. It's implied in the manga that Mitsuri
35:22is the first and only woman that Obanai has ever found beautiful. And the funny thing is that Obanai
35:28fell in love with Mitsuri at first sight. He was so dumbfounded at her beauty that his pet snake sensed it
35:34and bit him. Because of his abusive family, Obanai grew up to be a very small and weak young man.
35:39Even as a Hashira, he rarely ate. But once he saw Mitsuri's extreme appetite, he began to eat more
35:44and more. I personally think this helped him become an even stronger Demon Slayer. We've mentioned that
35:49Mitsuri has an insane appetite and that she teaches Shinobu how to cook food. If you can't guess by now,
35:54Mitsuri absolutely loves eating food. She eats more food than any other Hashira. In fact,
36:00the reason her hair is pink is because she eats too much Sakura Mochi, a pink rice cake. And believe
36:05it or not, this is a medical condition that can actually happen in real life. Mitsuri also holds
36:10the world record for eating 100 sticks of Japanese dumplings. But let's talk about what you guys are
36:15really wondering about. Why does she have an opening in her uniform? So Nimi keeps his uniform open
36:20because he's proud of his six pack. Shinobu hated how immodest hers was. And Mitsuri also hated hers,
36:26but was simply too shy to ask for another one. Obanai noticed how much she disliked her uniform
36:31and gave her striped socks so she could cover up more. And it's probably worth mentioning that she
36:36loved Obanai back, but was too shy to tell him. It's ironic that the love Hashira can't confess her
36:41love. But I bet you didn't know that she was Rengoku's student. She was originally trained as a disciple
36:47to Rengoku. But when she wasn't able to master flame breathing, she created her own variation called
36:52Love Breathing. And just like her breathing style is different, Mitsuri's weapons is very different
36:57from what a regular demon slayer usually carries. Instead of having a normal katana,
37:01she has a thinner version that can fold. She uses this weapon as a whip and it's extremely effective.
37:06Mitsuri constantly asks Shinobu for love advice, but since they're both kind of naive,
37:11their conversations are always weird. Mitsuri once said that Shinobu tends to talk about heart rate,
37:16blood pressure, and the brain's response when it comes to love. It sounds more like a research thesis
37:20than a conversation about how to get a boyfriend. Did you know that Giyu has never ever smiled?
37:25He's a super quiet Hashira, and the other Hashira don't really like him that much. The only time that
37:29Giyu has smiled was when he saw his favorite plate of food, salmon with daikon. It doesn't really look
37:34that good, but I've never tried it, so I'm not sure. And did you know that Giyu's crow is so old
37:39that it tends to make mistakes when giving Giyu instructions? This has caused Giyu to arrive late
37:44at important bites several times before. But Giyu constantly makes Zunitsu nervous because he might
37:49become Nezuko's future husband. You see, after an intense fight, Giyu's haori was torn to shreds.
37:55If you don't know, a haori is just a Japanese type of jacket. But after seeing how sad Giyu was,
38:00Nezuko was able to restore most of the jacket using her sewing skills that she learned from her mother.
38:05Giyu was so shocked that he began to send Nezuko many different gifts, like kimonos, hair ornaments,
38:10and little snacks. Muichiro is one of the most powerful Hashira in existence, but he does use some
38:15tricks to give himself the advantage. One example of that is his loose clothing. He wears oversized
38:21clothing so that his enemies can't as easily predict his movements. But there's a secret
38:25behind Muichiro's strength, and it's actually pretty simple. He's able to fall asleep under any
38:30conditions. Even if he's sleeping outside and it's pouring rain, he's still able to fall asleep.
38:34By always getting the right amount of sleep, he's able to perform at peak strength every time he
38:39fights a demon. But something that'll shock you is that Muichiro is only 14 years old. He's the youngest of all
38:44the Hashira and became one of them in only two months. But if Muichiro is the youngest, who is
38:50the strongest? Well, that title goes to Giyome, the stone Hashira. And I don't think it'll surprise
38:54you that the weakest Hashira is Shinobu. Like I said earlier, that's why she uses poison rather than
39:00brute strength to defeat demons. And an easter egg that hasn't been revealed in the show yet is that
39:05the words destroyer of demons are engraved in each of the Hashira's weapons. I'm not sure, but I think the
39:10words are enchanted to give the weapons more power. And since the Hashira are an elite group of demon
39:15slayers, they all earn a unique symbol on the back of their hand. This symbol correlates with the
39:20breathing style that they use. But if you look closely at the anime, it doesn't look like the
39:24animators have added in this detail yet. And while the katana is the standard weapon for a demon slayer,
39:29only four of the Hashira use katanas as their main weapon. Mitsuri uses that whip we talked about.
39:34Tengen uses two Nichirian blades. Shinobu's weapon looks like a normal katana,
39:38but it has a little slot in it for her poison. Obunai has a katana that is twisted,
39:42just like his serpent breathing. And Giyome's weapon is an axe and a round ball with spikes,
39:47called a Filail. But the biggest question is, who is Tanjiro's future wife once Demon Slayer ends?
39:52Well, the last chapter of the manga answers this question, and I think you'll be surprised to hear
39:56it's someone you know. Tanjiro actually marries Keno, the girl he helped overcome her problem
40:02with making decisions. When you think of people dying in Demon Slayer, Tanjiro's dad probably isn't
40:07who you think of, but he actually wins the award for the lamest death in the show. Because he's the
40:11only important person who died from a cold. That's right, people like Rengoku die heroic deaths,
40:17and then Tanjiro's dad gets taken out by the sniffles. And now you're probably wondering,
40:21why is he on the list of important deaths? Well, think about it. If he hadn't died,
40:26he would have been home when Muzan arrived. Now, I'm not saying that Tanjiro's dad could have defeated
40:30Muzan, but we know he's strong because he's performed the sun god dance for hours. And the manga even
40:35says that he has Yorichi's strongest power, the transparent world. This power allowed Tanjiro's
40:41dad to see the world as if he was looking through an x-ray, letting him analyze the breath, blood flow,
40:46and muscle movements of his enemies. Tanjiro's dad could have used his power to predict Muzan's
40:50attacks. And while I'm not 100% sure, he might have been strong enough to keep Muzan away until
40:55the sun rose, forcing the demon king to run away. While Tanjiro's dad died to a boring sickness,
41:00both Muzan and Kokushibo's deaths were downright gruesome. But first, let's talk about the way
41:05Tanjiro died. Obvious spoilers in this video. And I have to mention that Tanjiro's death is kind of a
41:12mystery. See, after he defeats Muzan, the very next chapter skips thousands of years into the future.
41:18Now, normally, we'd be stuck not knowing how Tanjiro dies, but if we flip through the manga,
41:22we can find some clues. First, we're told in the last chapter that Tanjiro married Kanao and had
41:26descendants. This tells us that he at least lived long enough to have a kid or two. Second, we know
41:31that he has this right here. And according to the Curse of the Demon Slayer mark, Tanjiro can't live
41:36past 25. Since he was 16 when the story ended, it's reasonable to assume that he died a peaceful death
41:42nine years later, surrounded by his loving wife and a potential young child too. Now, that's kind
41:47of a boring death for a main character. But from boring, let's move on to interesting,
41:51because the way Yorichi died is just savage. It was thousands of years before Tanjiro's birth.
41:57Yorichi was growing old, nearly 85, and still annihilating demons wherever he went. One night,
42:03he ran into Kokushibo, the second strongest demon in the world. And without hesitating,
42:07Yorichi split Kokushibo's throat with a single slice. But before he could follow up with a second
42:12slice to Kokushibo's head and end the demon's life, Yorichi died where he was standing. Later,
42:17even Kokushibo would admit that if Yorichi had swung at me a second time, I would have died. While
42:22he was aged and blind, his power was still in its prime. That's three of the 12 deaths checked,
42:28and next up, we have Gyomei's weird death. See, people with the Demon Slayer mark normally die at
42:33age 25. But things were different with Gyomei. He only unlocked the Demon Slayer mark when he was 27
42:39years old, meaning that he was already over the age limit. So why didn't he die immediately? Well,
42:44it's simple, really. The Demon Slayer mark causes you to die because it puts your body through
42:48extreme stress. If you get the Demon Slayer mark at a young age, you usually rack up so much damage
42:53that you die by age 25. Because of all this, it's pretty likely Gyomei would have lived for the next
42:585 to 10 years, but Kokushibo and Muzan had to ruin it. See, they were such tough opponents that Gyomei
43:04had to go all out with his Demon Slayer mark. And by the time the fight was over, Gyomei was fatally
43:10wounded and peacefully passed away. Now, peaceful is the last word I'd use to describe Kaigaku's death,
43:16because he was full of rage when his lifelong rival defeated him. See, Kaigaku and Zenitsu were trained
43:21by Jigoro, the ex-Thunder Hashira. He was such a strict master that they developed an extreme
43:25rivalry, each trying to become stronger than the other. This eventually drove Kaigaku away from
43:30the dojo. And while running away, Kaigaku was attacked by Kokushibo and turned into a demon.
43:35When Kaigaku's master learned about this, he committed seppuku and shame. This sent Zenitsu
43:39on a path of revenge, and he vowed to kill Kaigaku, getting his chance when he encountered him during
43:45the final fight against Muzan. And at first, things were tough for Zenitsu. Kaigaku had combined his
43:49Blood Demon art with his Thunder Breathing, making him so strong that Muzan had already made him an
43:54upper moon. However, Zenitsu leveled things up by inventing a new form of Thunder Breathing just to
44:00defeat Kaigaku. Using this technique, he killed Kaigaku with ease. But here's the thing, Demon
44:05Slayer's author revealed that Zenitsu was only able to win because of a mistake. See, Kaigaku had
44:10just become a demon, so he hadn't fully mastered his Blood Demon abilities. If Kaigaku had waited to
44:15fight Zenitsu in a couple of months, he would have easily defeated Zenitsu. Now we gotta talk about the
44:20most explosive death in Demon Slayer. See, things were getting bad for the Demon Slayer Corps. More and more
44:26demons were popping up, and Kaigaku, the leader of the Corps, knew he had to do something. So he
44:31decided to bait Muzan into visiting the Demon Slayer HQ. And when the Demon King arrived, Kaigaku blew
44:36himself up, trying to catch Muzan in the blast. Now the crazy part here is that Kaigaku knew this
44:42wouldn't kill Muzan. He only blew himself up so that the Hashira could surprise attack Muzan. But Kaigaku may
44:48have gone a little too far with his plan. I mean, he literally killed his wife and kids with the explosion.
44:54Now Kaigaku isn't the only person who died while trying to kill Muzan. Tamayo did too. But the way
44:59she went out was just savage. See, before attacking Muzan, Tamayo spent years collecting blood samples
45:05to create a serum. With Shinobu's help, the serum would be able to significantly weaken Muzan,
45:10allowing the Demon Slayers to kill him. Once his poison was ready, Tamayo drank it and then
45:14attacked the Demon King. As she expected, he easily beat her and then absorbed her into his body.
45:19But there was something different this time. See, for some unexplained reason,
45:23her consciousness survived. And while Muzan was fighting the Hashira, Tamayo trash-talked the
45:27heck out of him, keeping him angry and allowing the Hashira to gain the upper hand. Now her poison
45:32wasn't strong enough to kill Muzan, but it did weaken him. And before we explain how he died,
45:37let's talk about Kokushibo, the second strongest demon in the world. This guy was so powerful,
45:43it took the four strongest Hashira to take him down. But despite that, Kokushibo had the upper hand
45:48for nearly the entire fight. I mean, this dude cut off Muichiro's hand, then pinned him to the wall
45:53with his own sword. And when Genya came in for a sneak attack, Kokushibo saw right through it and
45:58chopped Genya into a bunch of little pieces. This pissed Sanami off. He charged at the upper moon,
46:05but things didn't go exactly as planned. And he got sliced open by Kokushibo. Luckily,
46:10Gyome arrived just in time to save Sanami. But even he, the strongest Hashira, wasn't strong
46:16enough to beat Kokushibo alone. Things only began to look better when Gyome and Sanami awakened their
46:20slayer marks. And combined with Genya and Muichiro overcoming their injuries, Kokushibo realized that
46:26he was beginning to lose. So he used his demon abilities to evolve and literally become a monster.
46:32Using this form, he mortally wounded both Genya and Muichiro before getting ready to unleash some
46:37more carnage. But when he saw himself in the reflection of a blade, Kokushibo realized that
46:41his strength wasn't worth becoming a monster. Full of regret, he stopped fighting and let the demon
46:46slayers kill him. So that's how Kokushibo died. But what about the two people he killed on his way out,
46:51Muichiro and Genya? His first victim, Muichiro, was the youngest Hashira of all time. It's easy to
46:57forget, but Muichiro is only 14. At least he was until he stabbed Kokushibo and got sliced in half.
47:04But he was such a Chad that he kept a hold of his sword, even turning it bright red in his final
47:08moments. Now Genya also got sliced in half by Kokushibo, but he had it much worse than Muichiro.
47:14See, one of the powers that he got from eating demons is the ability to survive bigger injuries.
47:19So after getting sliced in half, he felt way more pain than Muichiro. But soon,
47:23he lost too much blood and faded away, dying like a demon. Yeah, his death definitely wasn't as
47:29graceful as Mitsuri and Obanai's, because these two fought and died side by side. You see, Mitsuri
47:34and Obanai were in love. And we learned why during the battle with Obanai's flashback. He grew up with
47:40a family of thieves who worshipped a serpent demon. These people were evil, even cutting up Obanai's
47:45mouth to make him look like the serpent demon. Obanai ended up killing the demon and escaping,
47:50but because of his appearance and family background, he was treated as a monster. Until
47:54he met Mitsuri, who treated him like a normal person. The two quickly became best friends and
47:59later became something more. During their fight with Muzan, it seemed like they would survive. I mean,
48:04Obanai literally turned his blade hot red and Mitsuri ripped one of Muzan's arms off. However,
48:09things became deadly and they both took some serious injuries from Muzan. Obanai got scarred in both his
48:14eyes and Mitsuri had chunks of her body ripped off. Obviously, no human could survive these injuries,
48:20so these two passed away shortly after Muzan was defeated. On the bright side, Mitsuri and Obanai
48:25died in each other's arms and reminisced about how they met. The two confessed their love for each
48:30other and vowed to get married in the next life. That's just romantic! But from heartwarming,
48:36let's go to horrifying. Cause the demon king Muzan got killed in the creepiest way possible. It
48:42happened in chapter 199 with the sun rising over the demon king. To prevent being burned up,
48:47Muzan used his strongest technique, becoming a big baby. Yeah, I'm also confused. Why did he do this?
48:54This form wasn't even effective because he still burned up in the sunlight, but he made one last
48:59ditch effort taking over Tanjiro's body. Unfortunately, Muzan wasn't able to fully control
49:04Tanjiro's consciousness. As the demon king wrestled for control, Tanjiro started thinking about his
49:09friends and family and the influence they had on him allowed Tanjiro to resist Muzan's control.
49:14That's right, Tanjiro's power of friendship was stronger than the demon king. Muzan was wiped out
49:19and the battle ended there. Now, even though Tanjiro defeated Muzan, it was only because of his
49:24lucky victory against another demon moon. See, way back in chapter 146, Tanjiro and Giyu should have
49:29lost their fight against Akaza. Don't get me wrong, they had made huge improvements, but Akaza was still
49:35too strong for them. Like when they chopped off his head and he was still able to keep on going,
49:39something that normal demons can't do. Things were looking bad for the demon slayers until Akaza
49:44started remembering his human life. You see, Tanjiro subconsciously reminded Akaza of his human
49:49sensei, which led to Akaza remembering everything. Akaza got back to meeting his mentor and getting
49:55married. His life was going great until his mentor and wife got poisoned by a rival dojo. When he heard
50:00about this, Akaza went on a rampage killing everyone from the guilty dojo. That's when Muzan found
50:06Akaza and manipulated him into becoming a demon. Back to the present, Akaza thought of all his
50:11memories, showing remorse for everything he had done as a demon. With all these emotions flooding
50:16into his head, Akaza decided to use his strongest attack on himself. It was a noble ending for a
50:21noble warrior and the only reason that Tanjiro and Giyu were able to survive that fight. But there's
50:26one more secret that I found in the manga and it might be the craziest yet.
