00:56well it took about 17 hours of driving but we're here Morgan City Louisiana and it is a hot humid

01:20the bayou and we're gonna spend five days hunting frogs fishing camping eating good food it's gonna
01:27be amazing all right this is Stafford with Cajun Experience we went with these guys about what two
01:33years ago three years three years ago he's gonna take us out to our houseboat deep into the bayou
01:38and we're gonna have a great time guys oh yeah we're pumped we're heading out to the houseboat
01:53we're just gonna take a little look see at a crab pot you got that all right it's gonna be heavy
01:59now let's see what we got let's see what we got oh that's a nice blue crab that's actually for this
02:04area that's a medium sized crab wow that's that's a very nice medium no we're gonna leave the crab
02:10and we're gonna come back get him tomorrow you're being his friends drop it yep let's toss it

05:44get up on the front look at him he's just sitting right on the lawn okay what we're gonna do
05:51and come in oh daddy i just saw a baby frog it was this tiny oh you saw a baby frog yeah it was on the
05:59leaf now i don't know if you people at home can see this but there's these little blue specks all over
06:06in the swamp those are spider eyes those are big old swamp spiders staring back at us and it's hard
06:15to tell the difference between giant spider eyes and frog eyes there's the spiders running on top of
06:24the water oh look at this spider yeah a spider jumping on the water oh there's an alligator over
06:32there oh yeah oh yeah yeah right there there's gonna be everywhere oh there's one right there

13:33hi you guys having the best trip ever yeah oh my goodness last time we came here it was a little
13:42earlier in the year and we did a lot of crawfishing and these are the crawfish traps these things are
13:47awesome and they're really easy to make all right this is some of crawfish bait right here it's lunch
13:52time and we got a cage full of frogs so it's time to cook up some frog legs oh you'll get the big bertha
13:58yeah i want big benzie big benzie yeah here's a frog stomach let's see what's in there
14:07that looks like a crawfish to me doesn't it that's what it is favorite food oh that is
14:13a pile of frog legs and it is this really soft meat right here man
14:22now we're going to cook these things up
14:28oh my goodness we've got a frog leg feast here
14:42tell me what do you think of frog legs good frog legs really do taste like chicken
14:48but it's softer than chicken and it's i think it's better than chicken it's really good stuff
14:54i don't think you'll ever find anyone bad mouthing frog legs whoa we're getting the full cajun experience

15:16thomas this is his catfish bait so yeah this is what they used to catch catfish in the hoop nets

15:33we had thunder we had lightning crazy rain and about 15 minutes later we got blue skies look at that
15:40helps you hook the bait better with the hook we always get rid of the bottom half like so
15:45this will be crappy and this will be for trot lines right trot line jug lines stuff like that
15:50all right got jug lines here alligator guard jug lines oh yeah we got to make some new ones look
16:00all right guys we've got a belly full of frog we're going to go out and do a little gar fishing and
16:05maybe catch some carp as well we're busting out the fishing gear let's see what happens
16:15we're juggling it for catfish got that pool noodle with the weight and a little bit of hook
16:29and some bait and we'll come back in a couple hours see if we don't have a catfish

18:23those are called silver carp or big head carp some people call them asian carp
18:28but they're not really carp at all they're more related to a minnow but they taste like crappie

18:45and we are looking forward to dinner oh my goodness look at that yeah and these are

19:10potatoes when you make these booty balls is basically you stew up a pork butt you take some green peppers
19:17yellow peppers red peppers onions celery you stew it up really good you take the moisture off of
19:24it add some rice mix it all up then bread it deep fry it

19:34oh for dessert we've got homemade ice cream this is what we call aggressive churn this is how
19:48louisiana men make ice cream there with the power drill
19:52thank you well we're dry well fed and the boys are enjoying some ice cream so we're gonna go out
19:58and try to catch a gar maybe some carp we're gonna check the jug lines we've got rod reels we even got
20:04spears here and we're gonna try to do as much as we can before the weather tastes is off because we have
20:10a small bit of clear on the doppler and uh a whole lot more of that rain is coming our way all right
20:17we're gonna hit our catfish jugs first check those out yeah that one ain't doing much
20:22so grab this right no you just you don't never have to touch the fish you come right off there you go
20:38little chum there right yeah well we got that one channel cat and tomorrow we'll check it again with

20:46it's not pouring buckets it's not blowing a gale we're gonna see what happens

24:38so this right here is a small mouth buffalo it's a native fish here it's related to a sucker it's
24:42not actually a carp though they eat the same thing carps do and they act a lot like carp but the way you
24:48tell they're not carp beside the fact that they're kind of silver instead of gold as you look right over
24:53here they've got no whiskers a carp has kind of these fu manchu whiskers this guy's got nothing his bottom
25:01looks kind of looks kind of heart shaped just like a sucker because he's a he's a member of the sucker
25:05family and he looks a lot like a quill back sucker or a carp sucker but uh awesome fish i actually might
25:14go home and smoke some gar but look at these gar oh man this has been so much fun but it is
25:22crazy late it's like 1 a.m and i think our plan was to get up at 6 to go gar fishing god oh yeah but
25:32i think we better get home i think we better get back to bed now whoo guys i cannot describe how much
25:42fun i'm having on this trip i i've absolutely dreamt of coming back here so i wanted to do a
25:47little gift for for stafford for showing us such a good time so i'm giving him two of my spears here
25:53this is the one i hand forged uh last year and the one i made this year and i'm gonna leave them here
25:59with him and if you guys want to come and spear some fish i'm gonna make sure stafford has some spears so
26:04you guys can do this too but it is 1 a.m i gotta go to bed i'll see you guys in the morning staying up
26:11till like 2 a.m last night is kicking my butt but it's 8 a.m and the boys are up and they're well

29:50all right guys we got a big mess of catfish and that alligator guard we're going to clean them
30:06up and that's going to make some good food i'm going to take the shell off the back right
30:14all right step one you have to get in between the scales
30:20so the meat is already trying to break down now yeah yeah i see that haven't been dead long
30:48gar are a lot like bowfin their meat breaks down as soon as the fish dies so you want to clean and
30:53fillet it right away and what he did is he scrapes the meat with his blade to get kind of the enzymes
30:59and the bad meat off and then you don't wash it off okay you put it in the bag and freeze it dry
31:04and that seems to help prevent the enzymes from breaking the meat down too quickly a little higher
31:09more than one way to skin a cat right we're going to fillet one side right like that see mm-hmm then
31:20we're going to cut it off cleaned up it's going to scrape the tail and we're going to flip him over
31:28we're going to put a couple of slits in him and he's ready to fry you can eat everything but the bone we
31:33used to do this as kids this is how it'd be money to go to a local factory and skin fish right and
31:38today i'd probably lose 20 but i was younger i was pretty good
31:43go put those catfish in the crab pot and we're going to catch some blue crab too guys all right
31:48we're going to clean and cook up that buffalo we caught last night and i'm using the word we
31:51very very loosely

42:32so we are going to make fried frog jambalaya and i have a bag of four live yellow throat
42:40frogs that me and the boys caught last night with our bare hands
42:43four frog legs in a pot all right we're going to put some cajun seasoning on these uh
42:50these frog legs the seasoning is making the frogs twitch and jump is that creepy
42:56now we're going to fry up a bunch of vegetables
43:03all right now we've got this cajun spicy jambalaya mix here

43:34right before i fell asleep i was in my skivvies and i flipped my hammock
43:47fell into the mud and i tore a hole in the mosquito netting and i had to jump out in my underwear
43:54and fix the mosquito netting fix the platform fix the hammock re-rig everything and the bugs ate me
44:02alive because i only had bug repelling on my arms and legs and so i've got dozens and dozens of
44:08bites where the sun don't shine i have been itching and itching and itching all night long arms and my
44:15back are just like bumpy look at that he's biting me through my shirt oh man they're just thick

44:27nathan good morning yeah we're alive we're alive but we're about five pounds lighter from all the blood
44:36we donated i've got i've got itches in places that shouldn't be scratched

45:09clothes it's our last day here we're gonna be leaving in a few hours and i'm sad to go this has
45:16just been awesome this is our second trip with the cajun experience and it's not gonna be our last
45:22every time you book with these guys it's an exclusive experience there's no mixing parties you get
45:27the entire houseboat to yourself it's just an amazingly affordable and unique experience
