00:00Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post and here's a look at what's coming up in the week ahead.
00:07Professional cyclists Charlie and Harry Tanfield are this week supporting a campaign led by Yorkshire Cancer Research
00:14that's asking the government to address long-standing regional cancer inequalities.
00:19The brothers are cycling hundreds of white roses to Westminster from Harrogate,
00:24symbolising a call for Yorkshire to be prioritised in the forthcoming national cancer plan.
00:30They're starting today, September 8th, and due to arrive at around lunchtime tomorrow.
00:36Today also marks three years since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
00:42King Charles III, who was formerly the Prince of Wales, became King then on her passing in 2022.
00:48Two days later, he was proclaimed King at a historic ceremony in London.
00:52The Accession Council met at St James's Palace for the proclamation,
00:56which is an ancient tradition dating back hundreds of years to a time before mass media,
01:01when proclamations were the only way of letting the public know that there was a new monarch.
01:05The National Television Awards have been hosted this week by comedian Joel Domet at the O2 in London on September 10th.
01:13Stars of the Yorkshire-filmed hit show Adolescence, Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham, who play on-screen father and son,
01:20will go head-to-head for the Drama Performance Prize.
01:23They will compete against Tom Hardy, Rosalynn Ellis and Brenda Bledin.
01:29Adolescence, which is a Netflix drama about a teenage boy who's arrested for murdering a classmate,
01:37is also in the running for the New Drama Prize.
01:40Whilst there's only one Rob Burrow, which paid tribute to the late rugby league player and MND campaigner,
01:46is shortlisted for the authored documentary prize.
01:50And finally, the Baton of Hope Tour, which is a suicide prevention initiative, is visiting Yorkshire this week.
01:57It's going to be in Bradford on September 9th and Leeds on September 10th.
02:02It will see a gold and silver baton representing mental wellbeing, being carried by bereaved families and suicide survivors
02:09in a bid to challenge the stigma and campaign for practical change.
