00:00Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post, and here's a look at what's
00:05coming up in the week ahead. There's an eclectic mix of events on the calendar in Yorkshire this
00:10week, from Gooseberry showing to Lego works of art, but first we turn to those sleigh bells
00:16a-ringing. Yes, in August. The festive period is far from the minds of most this summer time,
00:22but in Bridlington, Christmas is just around the corner. Bridmas Day will be celebrated in
00:28the town on August 6th, promising to bring festive cheer to the East Yorkshire coast.
00:33Last year, the event made its debut, and this year there's set to be Christmas-themed
00:37celebrations on the beach and at various venues in the town, including Bridlington Spa and Soobie
00:42Hall and Gardens. Highlights include a meet and greet with Santa and the Grinch, a Christmas-themed
00:47market, the Santa Express lantern, a screening of Home Alone and an appearance from a pantomime day.
00:53Meanwhile, after touring over 100 cities in 24 countries, Art of the Brick is coming to lead.
01:01It's opening at Broadgate on August 8th and it's an exhibition featuring over 70 large-scale sculptures,
01:09including reimaginings of masterpieces such as Van Gogh's Starry Night and Da Vinci's Mona Lisa,
01:16all made entirely from millions of Lego bricks. This week also sees the return of the North of
01:23England's largest military show, Yorkshire Wartime, held in Doncaster. The event aims to bring history
01:29to life and help people understand what it was like to live through and serve in the conflicts
01:34of the 20th century. People can explore life in a First World War trench, witness battle re-enactments
01:40by living history groups and see parades of some of the country's largest and rarest military vehicles.
01:45There's also due to be a Battle of Britain memorial flights.
01:49And in the North York Moores National Park, the oldest surviving gooseberry show in the country is
01:56returning for its 224th edition this week. The show is held on the first Tuesday in August every year
02:04by the Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Society and this year it's taking place on August 5th at Egton Manor.
