00:00welcome to the tech today show i have been thinking for a while now when would i be able
00:20to get a robot of my own because people in china by the way are already getting a robot from a mall
00:27they are shopping robots yes it's 2025 and people are already buying robots and there is a lot
00:34happening in the robotics space and exactly what we are going to talk about in our big tech story
00:39on the show plus there is a more affordable version of chat gpt for indians yes it's a india exclusive
00:47with all of the premium features we'll be again getting you more on that let's kick off tech
00:52today with all of the top tech headlines of the week

02:06elon musk's starlink is partnering with india's uidai to enable adhar based e-kyc for customer
02:19verification this will make signing up for high speed satellite internet smoother faster and fully
02:25compliant with kyc norms no paperwork needed ideal for rural and urban customers alike the move reflects the
02:34fusion of india's trusted digital id system with cutting edge satellite tech
02:44meta just launched a new ai powered voice dubbing tool for reels on facebook and instagram creators can
02:50automatically translate audio like english to spanish with a natural tone lip sync and preview before
02:57posting the dubbed videos are tagged as ai translated and delivered to viewers in their preferred language
03:03making content accessible and engaging globally
03:11openai is planting its first physical presence in india with a new office in new delhi set to open
03:17later in 2025 the ai pioneer has officially registered in the country and is hiring a local team to build
03:24closer ties with developers students and partners it's an ambitious step to deepen ai access and innovation
03:31in one of the fastest growing markets
03:37so these days it's like this every day when i check my instagram my feed is absolutely flooded with videos
03:44that feel straight out of a sci-fi movie sometimes i feel that these videos are ai generated but surprisingly
03:51these are not now the videos i'm talking about are all robots running marathons playing football and even
03:58serving noodles or food at restaurants and this is how china basically is changing the game in robotics and
04:06it's also happening globally but the thing is what do they have that india doesn't to answer these
04:13questions on the tech tradition we will dive into what robotics is how is it evolving and we'll also
04:19show you some of the most advanced robots and really what is the future in terms of robotics and where does
04:26india stand in all of this from running a marathon to kickboxing these jaw-dropping videos have taken the internet by storm
04:48this is a glimpse into just how far robotics has come in just a few decades all thanks to advancements
04:55in ai and robotics but how did we get here
05:02because robotics didn't start with humanoids showing off on instagram back in the 1960s
05:08robots were nothing more than just robotic arms in car factories built to weld lift and repeat
05:16then came the 90s and 2000s when companies like honda launched asibo
05:25and sony's ibo dog started shaping our imagination
05:30they were cute clumsy but were more toys than revolutionary
05:34fast forward to 2025 and we have robots that don't just follow instructions
05:43they think they adapt and in some cases they even learn
05:49now let's talk about some of the advancements we have in terms of the robots that are available what we
05:55have here is optimus now this is a tesla flagship now tesla has been working in robotics for a while
06:03now and this one is capable of a lot of things now this comes loaded with sensors by the way and
06:09actuators that helps it move almost like a human and this is possible by the way the kind of technology
06:16that tesla has been using in this one well it is just out of this world
06:27take tesla's optimus a humanoid robot elon musk says will one day cook clean and maybe even be your
06:34gym buddy it's already serving popcorn to customers at the tesla ranch in the u.s
06:41or take figure ai's figure 01 designed to work alongside humans in warehouses
06:54let's say what started the revolution for robots and that was boston dynamics with the atlas robot
07:01by the way and brit it really made a headline was making a lot of headlines across the internet with
07:06the kind of sensors it had with the kind of movements that it was showing it was doing
07:10hopping all around it was hopping stones it was balancing itself and doing backflips it was just
07:15crazy and atlas has now evolved into something totally different and yes it looks amazing by the
07:22way it will be commercially available that the company says might be somewhere around 26 27 and yes
07:29this is what real robots look like in 2025 and then there's digit by agility robotics
07:38it's already being tested in amazon warehouses but over the past few months what's really amazed us is
07:45the growth in robotics we've witnessed in china
07:50unitree h1 now this robot i'm sure you have seen on the internet running marathons doing a lot of crazy
07:57things and this is what even the chinese are really proud of and they are pushing now this is actually
08:03testament to what china is doing and where it stands in terms of robotics and by the way this robot
08:10stands around 180 meters weighs around 47 kilograms and also comes with a replaceable battery and by the
08:18way people in china can buy this robot which is just incredible
08:25the unitree h1 which recently broke the internet by running a hundred meter dash
08:30faster than most humans is testament to where china stands right now in robotics
08:38each of these robots is special not just because they can walk or jump but because they represent
08:44how far we've come in giving machines autonomy balance and intelligence
08:52and not only these there are many other robots that are being developed around the world globally and
08:59this just helps understand of what people are going to be in for when these robots are launched and by the
09:05way not just the bipeds there are quadrupeds as well these can be deployed in different different
09:12sectors could be defense could be reconnaissance and these quadrupeds by the way have different sensors
09:19and also have the kind of technology that the most advanced robots right now have in the world now a
09:24lot of people are talking about china and robotics and there is a reason that the country is leading
09:30in robotics and the whole race right now is with them now let me talk about the reasons here now
09:36the government the chinese government has set a deadline by the way to mass produce humanoids
09:41by 2025 and also scale them by 2027 and many startups that are operating china are backed by subsidies
09:49and testing zones so all of these dynamics are working in their favor china already installs more than
09:55half the world's robots mean they are indeed a power player and that speaks volumes about their capabilities
10:03they also have a strong domestic base in terms of motors sensors chips and all of these components
10:09even battery tech that you require to build all of these robots and build them faster and also remember
10:16firms like uvtech unitree and even fourier gr1 are heavily funded and already they are deploying their
10:24pilot testing so all of these you know things help them push their robots but the best part here is
10:30that these companies are able to demo their robots and the more they keep testing them the more it
10:36gives them the opportunity to drive competition and also attract investors but here's the thing these
10:43robots are not all about just flexing on youtube because they are really what showcasing about robotics
10:51what telling stories about robotics is concerned and they are really reshaping the entire industry and
10:57they are basically showing of how helpful they can really be to humans
11:04in factories robots are the workforce that never sleeps tesla's giga factories in the u.s
11:10germany and china use hundreds of robots to make sure assembly lines aren't affected
11:16in healthcare surgical robots are assisting doctors with delicate procedures this is happening even in india
11:27defense agencies are investing in robotic dogs and drones
11:35they're walking the dog carrying our bags and yes even in restaurants robots are not flipping burgers
11:41and brewing coffee all of this is happening today around the world
11:45so whatever you've been seeing in hollywood till now is coming true yes robots promise efficiency consistency
11:59and safety especially in dangerous jobs but they also raise big questions about jobs ethics and safety
12:07we've seen online how some robots just go berserk and have even attacked humans
12:21and knowing this followed by ideas that hollywood movies have built in your head
12:26would you be comfortable with a robot soldier patrolling your city
12:30or a humanoid taking care of your child
12:38and this brings us to the future what are tech leaders talking about robots let's first look at
12:45elon musk because he believes that robots will definitely be more valuable than cars and obviously
12:51because he's actually building one now sam altman the ceo of open ai has hinted that
12:58ai in physical form is where things get really interesting and again it is also complicated there
13:04is a lot of blurry lines right now between what robotics can be in the future and bill gates by the
13:09way recently wrote that robots will transform healthcare and even elder care in the next 20
13:16years because even he sees how assistive they can be but i can't leave her alone she needs me so
13:24depending on who you listen to the future either looks like helpful with friendly robots or looks
13:30more like the movie the terminator no matter what you do where machines would be the end of humanity
13:45now let's talk about the big question what is really india doing in this space because
13:50we may not have all the marathon running robots or humanoids but remember the indian robotics story
13:56is quietly building momentum now startups like adverbs in noida and other companies as well are
14:03building warehouse robots which are used across the world right now asimov robotics in kerala is
14:09creating service robots for the healthcare industry and even iits are experimenting with robots for
14:16disaster relief space exploration and other sectors as well now all of them are working on indigenous
14:23robots for defense check as well and even surveillance so again this indian robotics story is slowly
14:30developing and we are showing improvements every year countries like china us they have succeeded or
14:36they have been a lot better in this ecosystem because they have been able to create an ecosystem which
14:42starts which includes uh talent companies making various parts various components people using and
14:51using these end products and creating different processes different use and use cases of these products
14:57which is something that we should be able to do uh with a very equal equal ease if not we don't really
15:04have a competitive disadvantage we need to develop an ecosystem we need to have companies like what the
15:10kind of work that adverb is doing we need to do that such that the end we are not dependent upon any other
15:16country in terms of technology in terms of components we are self-sufficient in that terms and we are able to
15:24you know churn out products that are really quality products that can go across the world so where does that
15:31really leave us again robots are no longer just tools because they are becoming they are evolving to become
15:38co-workers assistants and in some cases companions they're even getting pregnant i'm not kidding this
15:44is reality but the big question isn't if they will be a part of our daily lives or if they will take our
15:50jobs away it's about how much control we are willing to give these robots because one thing is for clear the robot
15:59revolution is not coming it's already here the only thing left for us to decide is whether
16:05we are ready to accept it and live with it policy makers are pushing for an ai educated india and open ai
16:20has given a gift for all of the indians with a cheaper version of chat gpt at just 3.99 now what is it
16:28and how will it help you let's find out chat gpt go affordable fast and exclusively for india
16:45with its second largest market for chat gpt this move is a clear signal open ai is betting big on indian
17:01users chat gpt go is opening as most affordable plan yet priced at just 399 a month and the best part is
17:10you don't need to save any credit card details to buy it that's because open ai has integrated upi
17:16payments this is considered to be a master stroke considering that only five to six percent of indians
17:24have credit cards and over 500 million people actively use upi for everyday transactions
17:30in fact upi powers more than 85 percent of digital payments in india
17:34this segment is important and i want your undivided attention because here we try to decipher what
17:42really is different with chat gpt go now the free plan by the way gives users basic access to the gpt
17:494.0 mini model and again it offers very limited messaging capabilities and also no advanced features
17:57now it's enough for you to get a taste of what chat gpt can do but not nearly enough for what power
18:03users would want now with chat gpt go by the way users get 10 times more capable capabilities to
18:10message and also the ability to generate more images and also can upload multiple files and with the
18:18ability to access and double the memory that basically means the chatbot remembers more of
18:23your past conversations which is again crucial for students professionals and even creators who rely
18:29on contests now this is by the way powered by chat gpt5 which is again the latest model that chat gpt is
18:36offering you can even create custom gvts for a more personalized work with this one and then we have
18:44the pro variant which is again priced at nearly four times higher than what go offers again pro does
18:52give you access to gpt5 but with unlimited usage you also get priority access when the server is
18:59you know loaded and overloaded with a lot of the queries you also get advanced tools and a higher
19:05tier performance so it's just basic for people who run enterprises for businesses the pro model
19:12really works well for people who want to really taste what premium is go for the go because at 3.99
19:18it is offering a lot and i'm sure a lot of the ai users would want to thank sam for doing this for india
19:26exclusively so essentially chat gpt go is perfect for indian users specifically because of the price
19:34and it sits right in the sweet spot it's far more powerful than the free plan much more affordable
19:41than pro and designed with indian users in mind a more affordable premium ai experience could
19:47democratize ai adoption in india bringing advanced features at a price point that works for students
19:53freelancers and small businesses alike and by removing the credit card barrier open ai is opening
20:00its doors new potential users so this is your chance to experience more of chat gpt5 for a much
20:09lesser price just to however the big question here is with its upi integration and india first focus
20:17will chat gpt really go to make india the largest ai user base in the world if it succeeds here by
20:23the way it could change the way india uses ai and it will also open up more avenues for global expansion
20:36so the new pixel 10 series is here in india and a lot of people are looking forward to the kind of
20:41ai capabilities that these smartphones can offer remember you also have the pixel watch 4 and the
20:46pixel buds now the portfolio looks nice you get a lot of ai features a lot of ai upgrades that come
20:51to the phone but how do they change the user experience you see pixel has always been more about
20:57pushing the ai boundary and also it is pushing hardware in terms of the camera capabilities on the pro
21:04and the ford as well so let me give you a quick look of what these phones offer and a little extra
21:25let's begin with the pixel 10
21:27for the first time the base model gets a triple camera system a 48 megapixel main sensor 13 megapixel
21:37ultra wide and a 10 megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom add super res zoom up to 20x and you
21:46finally get more versatility but the real leap is on the ai side features like camera coach which
21:52literally teaches you how to frame better shots makes the pixel 10 more approachable
21:57than ever its 6.3 inch oled display climbs to 3000 nits of peak brightness and the 4970 mah battery
22:06supports g2 wireless charging now but with charging still capped at 30 watt the pixel 10 pro and the pro
22:15xl raised the bar this time both get pro camera systems with 50 megapixel wide 48 megapixel ultra wide
22:22and with macro focus and also bundled is a 48 megapixel telephoto camera with pro res zoom up to 100x
22:30but it's just not the hardware muscle ai adds high-res portrait mode as well it also gets magic you a kind
22:38of real-time creative assistant that suggests information based on your conversations like it will
22:44automatically show hotel reservations if you are talking to someone about it on texts very handy displays hit at
22:513300 nits peak among the brightest anywhere batteries are solid too with 4870 mah on the pro and 5200 mh on
23:00the excel but again only the excel gets the faster 45 watt wired and 25 watt wireless charging both
23:08devices get 42 megapixel selfie camera giving the pro series one of the sharpest front shooters in the
23:14business and then there's the pixel 10 pro fold the big story here is durability ip68 water and dust
23:22resistance finally comes to the pixel foldable the 8 inch super flex display is brighter up to 3000 nits
23:30and ai features like dual screen preview and tabletop mode add utility to the form factor
23:36but the camera setup mirrors the base pixel 10 at a premium price that's a compromise and at 258 grams
23:45this is one of the heaviest foldables around across the lineup ai is deeply baked in you get gemini nano
23:54on device powering live translate circle to search and live call assist many of these features are still
24:01evolving and whether users adopt them in everyday life remains to be seen outside of phones india also
24:08gets the pixel watch 4 with slimmer bezels a brighter display and ai driven health insights battery life
24:15stretches to 40 hours better but still behind wearables that last days you also get better gemini
24:23integration
24:23and the new pixel buds 2 8 now come with active noise cancellation ai powered call clarity and even
24:32a replaceable charging case battery a small but significant nod to sustainability
24:39so to wrap it up the pixel 10 lineup is google's most ambitious yet bigger batteries brighter screens
24:46sharper cameras but also charging speeds and segmentation that lag behind competitors
24:53ai is the real differentiator this year with tools like magic cue and camera coach if they truly help
25:00users create and communicate better pixels could carve a strong identity
25:08so here's the real treat google hasn't bumped up the prices of the pixel 10 devices this year which is
25:13great considering you are getting all of these ai updates and also the hardware has been upgraded
25:18don't worry we'll be getting you a comprehensive review of all of these pixel devices soon
25:23in our show so stay tuned for that
25:28robots are evolving and getting more advanced ai is getting smarter but the question is are you
25:34also getting smarter with the technology and the advancements for that you need to come and watch
25:39the tech today show next week also because we have a big surprise for you the society is signing off
25:45and i'll see you next week
25:54you
