00:00Hello and welcome to this Victorian Jane's weather update for Monday.
00:04We had our cold outbreak over the weekend.
00:06Things have thawed out now, but we have a bit of cloud that is left over
00:10as high pressure moves on in.
00:12Disturbance to our northeast today, that's not going to affect us.
00:15But I do want to direct your eyes over into the southwest
00:18at the next cold outbreak that is coming.
00:20Yes, it is the first week of September.
00:22We are now in spring, but they can come up from the southern ocean
00:25and have a big impact as they move through.
00:28OK, let's have a look at day by day, what we're expecting here.
00:31Here is high pressure by the end of the day, sitting over northwestern parts of the state.
00:35So that's pretty close, and it means we don't have a lot of instability left,
00:38so there's not a lot of wet weather left.
00:40There's just pesky showers moving through that really don't add up to much.
00:44As we go into Tuesday, here's that next weather system developing.
00:48I want to draw your attention to these coloured lines here.
00:51That snowed to 1,500 metres, snowed to 600 metres.
00:54So, yes, a proper cold outbreak, but high pressure is right across the top
00:59and through here, and it's going to have a bit of an impact
01:01on how much we can get from this one.
01:04So here we are on Tuesday, just arriving in that southwest corner.
01:07As we move into Wednesday, here's our cold air coming through.
01:11We've got wet weather across the southwest, up into the northeast,
01:14much less as you head further inland or over into the east.
01:17Tasmania is copying the brunt of this particular weather system
01:20and the cold, cold air as it comes in, but we're certainly going to feel it.
01:24So there's Wednesday, there's Thursday.
01:27Look at the high pressure in behind it, in through there.
01:29That means an extra push of cold air that's coming out from the south,
01:33and we'll feel it.
01:34That snowed down to 1,200 metres as we go into the end of Thursday.
01:38But again, Tasmania, that's the one that's going to get
01:40the lowest level snow from this one here.
01:43Also, you'll notice that the wet weather really doesn't extend inland
01:46because the high pressure system is through here.
01:48As we go into Friday, that high has finally moved through,
01:51so we've got the last of that moving through during the day
01:53and the cold air that comes with it.
01:56So let's watch this high pressure system by Saturday.
01:59It is out to our east, so we're back into northerly winds.
02:01That lets our temperatures firstly soar out and then warm up.
02:05And now we look at the next weather system that's coming in.
02:08So there's Saturday, nothing for us here.
02:10Into Sunday, might be starting to see this in through here.
02:13Northerly winds out ahead of it.
02:14Into Monday, there we go, not just a coastal system,
02:18not just a ranger system, but right in because we've got
02:21a feed of tropical moisture coming down from the northwest there.
02:24That is Monday and then into Tuesday.
02:27So that is the potential for our next widespread wet weather system.
02:31So the mid to end of this week, that's where our cold outbreak
02:34is coming from, but not a lot of wet weather with it
02:37unless you're right near the coast or on the rangers.
02:39And then early next week, that's our next widespread rain.
02:42So let's have a look at what that could add up to.
02:44Now, this only goes through the end of Monday,
02:46so it doesn't include what could come next Tuesday.
02:48It's a bit too far away.
02:50But across the coast in through here, another 25 to 50 millimetres.
02:54It quickly decreases as you head inland there, 15 to 25, 10 to 15.
02:58And then by the time you get to the northwest corner, 1 to 5,
03:01and that's mainly next week.
03:02Up into the rangers, not the huge, huge falls that we saw last time,
03:05but yes, some cold air and not much as you head over
03:08into the southeast corner and through there.
03:11All right, so for Melbourne, we've got cloud building during the day here.
03:14There's some light, pesky showers around.
03:16They're not going to add up to very much at all.
03:18And then an opposite trend for tomorrow.
03:19It starts cloudy and then gets some sunny breaks as the day goes on.
03:23So temperatures are warming up a little bit in here,
03:25and then they are decreasing as we head to the end of the week.
03:28Have a look at the timing of this now.
03:30You may have heard we had warm weather from Thursday onwards.
03:34No, that has been pushed back.
03:3614 and then maybe even 13 as we go through Friday.
03:39Temperatures jump up over the weekend.
03:41It's not earlier than that now because that next system is taking
03:43a little while to move through our cold outbreak.
03:46So keep the winter woolies around for the end of the week
03:49and then bring out the summer gear as we move across the weekend.
03:52We get some wet weather with that, mainly Wednesday into Thursday.
03:56It dries up on Friday.
03:57And then the potential for that next weather system starting
04:00next Monday into Tuesday.
04:02As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
