00:00In a tragic train accident in Matrou on August 30th, the Egyptian Ministry of Health has reported three fatalities and 103 injuries.
00:11The incident occurred when seven carriages travelling from Massa, Matrou to Alexandria derailed between Fouca and Galal stations due to truck subsistence.
00:22The derailment happened around 3.30pm in the local time in the desert area, causing two of the carriages to overturn.
00:29Hospitals throughout Matrou and nearby regions were placed on high alert, with over 50 ambulances dispatched to assist injured.
00:38By evening, 87 of those injured had been treated and discharged.
00:43Kamel El Wazir, the Minister of Transport, visited the scene and ordered the formation of a technical committee to investigate the cause of the derailment.
00:51He emphasized that anyone found responsible will face immediate dismissal.
00:56An emergency unit was also established to oversee the situation and assess the condition of the injured.
