00:00Former Chief Minister Salih Saeed Kerouak has urged Sabahans to safeguard unity as the
00:05state prepares for an election this year, warning that political competition should
00:09not come at the expense of harmony.
00:12In a Facebook post, he said that while choosing different parties is the people's right,
00:16it must never destroy harmony or respect in politics.
00:20The ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah has said it will form an alliance with Pakatan Harapan
00:24for the upcoming state election, but PH has also said it has agreed to an electoral pact
00:29with Barca Nacional.
00:31Sabah BN Chief Bung Mokhtar Radin said the coalition would not work with GRS, but would only consider
00:36cooperation after the outcome of the election.
00:40Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim hoped, however, that all three coalitions would be able to
00:44work together for the polls.
00:46Salih said political competition should be about ideas to develop the state in the spirit
00:50of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and not insult or slander.
00:55The former federal minister also cautioned against allowing politics to erode the meaning of
01:00independence as Malaysia celebrates its 68th National Day on August 31st.
01:05Calling unity the foundation of progress, Salih said Sabah would only thrive if politicians
01:10put cooperation first instead of discord.
