00:00Thousands of Venezuelans responded to President Nicolás Maduro's call to join the Bolivarian
00:05National Militia to defend their homeland against U.S. threats.
00:09Our colleague Bruno Falci gives us more details in the following report.
00:14In the community of January 23, in the Venezuelan capital, is one of more than 1,000 enlistment
00:21points spread throughout the country, where people voluntarily come to enlist to defend
00:26their homeland against the new threats of U.S. invasion.
00:34We are enlisting because we are getting ready for a possible aggression by the North American
00:38Empire.
00:39The Venezuelan people will always respond to face any type of aggression, with unity and
00:44joining its efforts toward community work, so that we can defend our homeland.
00:48We are always deployed across the country, working for the people.
00:51But at this particular moment, we enlist because we are determined to defend our homeland.
01:01Our historic land, our ancestral land, will not be trampled on again by any empire, whoever
01:06it is.
01:07A place of strong symbolism, where the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez, rests.
01:17Many people passed by here today, swearing with their lives to defend their country's sovereignty.
01:28In principle, enlistment is not mandatory.
01:31It is not an obligation for young people to go to the barracks to be trained as military
01:36personnel.
01:37However, the constitution says that it is the obligation of all Venezuelans to defend
01:43their territory under sovereignty.
01:45And you don't have to be in the military to do it.
01:48A clear demonstration of the country's national unity in the face of any threat of interference
01:57in its democratic process.
01:59Here is the evidence.
02:03There is no obligation to anybody.
02:05We all have a sense of belonging.
02:07We are nationalists.
02:08We believe in peace.
02:09And we know that Nicolas Maduro has developed a diplomatic system for peace, and we are responded
02:14by complying with his call without any obligation.
02:18If the illegal economic sanctions applied against Venezuela were not enough, Washington is now
02:27making a psychological war.
02:29But the resilience of the people will not be broken.
02:34As part of the third day of voluntary enlistment in the national militia, several Venezuelan
02:46citizens reiterated their support for President Nicolas Maduro and the Bolivarian Revolution.
02:51Today, the communers of the homeland are telling the whole world that we are enlisting because
02:59we are enlisting because we love Venezuela, because we love our homeland.
03:17We have to say clearly that there are comments around that say that Trump is crazy, that Trump
03:22is bipolar, but Trump is not crazy at all.
03:25Trump is acting rationally, with very well-organized thoughts.
03:30Because he knows that Venezuela is the helm of the planet, their resources he needs are.
03:35They are used to forcing peoples to submission, but sovereignty is not negotiable, sovereignty
03:40is defended.
03:42We are enlisting because we are getting ready for a possible aggression by the North American
03:48empire.
03:49The Venezuelan people will always respond to face any type of aggression, with unity, and
03:57joining its efforts towards community work, so that we can defend our homeland.
04:03We are always deployed across the country, working for the people, but at this particular moment
04:13we enlist because we are determined to defend our homeland, that our, historic land, our ancestral
04:20land will not be trampled on again by any empire, whoever it is.
04:26Because the nature of the Venezuelan people is of that of resistance and of defense, a nature
04:33linked to Mother Earth, linked to the country's social life, to its joy, to its love, and that
04:39is why we reject all kinds of attempt of aggression, violence and war.
