The Philippines and South Africa are expected to conclude its memorandum of understanding (MOU) on a defense agreement that would allow South Africa to help in modernizing Manila’s armed forces, Ambassador Bartinah Ntombizodwa Radebe-Netshitenzhe said on Thursday, Aug. 28.

00:00We've long undertaken that because without you protecting your own shores, you know, ocean places, it becomes a problem.
00:07So we think we can. We think we can also be able to assist Philippines in terms of research and capabilities that they have.
00:16Because we have Dine, we've got many people think when we talk about rain metal, we talk about rain metal in Germany.
00:23We've got South African rain metal, we've got Dinell in South Africa, we've got a lot of companies that are doing South African, we actually have big industrial places that are doing defense equipment.
00:40We've had this relationship with the Filipino on the basis that because we are also a very, we've got a lot of calamities in the Philippines,
00:47we can be able to have the defense that is able to intervene when we've got calamities.
00:53You know, in South Africa, for instance, if we have flats, we've got the, what do you call it, the flight hours that goes and pick up people from the calamities on their own,
01:04remove people and put them on the flights, on the helicopters.
01:08If we were to look at the top ten fighter jets and we'll see South Africa is among the seven, I think we're number seven in the world.
01:17So we are able to pick up people during the times of calamities.
01:21But we also have equipment that we can be able to assist people to pick them out of the calamities on time, on time when there is calamities.
01:28We do not have calamities as much as we have here in the Philippines because of the geographical places we have.
01:36So we can be able to collaborate on that aspect.
01:39But one of the things is that we do have defense products we bring to the Philippines that have long been coming to the Philippines.
01:50Some of them, in particular, ammunition that we've been bringing to the Philippines.
01:54But we think we can help the Philippines in that benefit from the modernization programs that they have in the government.
02:01We've had relationships, we're working on the OMAEU.
02:04We are supposed to be hosted by the Philippines this year for a political consultative forum.
02:11We think we can be able to conclude both the OMAEU on agriculture and the OMAEU on defense.
02:20Where do we go?
02:22We're going to assemble a million arculism which is coming together,
02:23we're going to be able to coordinate the promo if the Philippines is able to participate.
02:24We're going to have a couple of different ideas that we have in the Philippines.
02:25We're going to combine thems that we have across the region.
02:26We're going to organize all the other things that we have in the Philippines.
02:28And this tabernacle of science will be able to expand the area.
02:30We are going to integrate each other's approach if you are trying to indicate that we're actually going to be able to navigate.
02:32We're going to try to continue our stage.
02:34We're going to figure this out to let's go.
02:36We're going to try to open the ballpark.
02:38We're going to move the ballpark.
02:39We're going to try to determine the airway.
