00:09The fact that, as of last May, the country's municipalities owed 18,149,300,000 Dominican pesos to electricity companies is outrageous for the sector.
00:20If we add to this the fact that the Bonaluce program owed the E-Days 1,456,000,000 Dominican pesos, we are witnessing an attitude that undermines these companies' finances from the state itself.
00:33According to the commercial management report of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, of which Liston Diario published information last Saturday, these debts coexist with a 43.5% loss of energy and a 44.5% loss in collections.
00:48When the numbers speak so clearly, it is inexplicable how punctually the E-Days cut off service to citizens who owe them hundreds of pesos or to small businesses that owe thousands.
00:59If the E-Days supply electricity and send bills to municipalities and the Bonaluce program, they should normally pay for that service, not become the largest energy debtors.
01:08The generation, distribution and marketing of energy is vital for the country's development.
01:14But with such lax policies toward its largest debtors, no management can be successful.
01:20Everyone who consumes energy is obligated to pay it on time, but if the state doesn't pay, it incentivizes small and large companies to resort to fraud.
01:29The E-Days are obligated to charge for electricity or suspend that service to those who don't pay, whether the state, large companies, small businesses or individuals.
