00:02The Department of Government Efficiency placed a copy of the Social Security Administration's
00:06database on a vulnerable cloud server in June according to a whistle-roller complaint by
00:10SSA Chief Data Officer Charles Borges. The filing alleges that more than 300 million Americans'
00:15personal data, including Social Security numbers, may have been exposed due to a lack of security
00:19oversight. Borges said SSA CIO Aram Magadassi approved the duplicate data set in a way that
00:27circumvented normal review, granting Doge staff and proper access. Government Accountability
00:31Project described the server as a live copy of the entire country's Social Security information.
00:36SSA said it is not aware of any breach and remains committed to safeguarding sensitive data.
00:41Senate Democrats previously proposed auditing Doge's access after the Supreme Court allowed
00:45the agency to review SSA records as part of its fraud detection efforts.
