00:00Jeff, please.
00:02Well, Mr. President, you've heard from around the table
00:05how people are grateful to have an opportunity
00:07to be part of this team, have an opportunity to work for you,
00:09and have an opportunity to serve the American people.
00:12And I would say as we head into this Labor Day,
00:14the thing that really differentiates you and your leadership
00:17and everybody around this table is one word, and that's respect.
00:20Because this is a group of people that respect our farmers and ranchers.
00:24We respect the people that are in law enforcement.
00:27That's a huge change.
00:28Respecting the people that are in uniform.
00:30Respecting our veterans.
00:31Respecting our shrimp fishermen.
00:34I mean, whoever it is in this country.
00:36People that are building our roads.
00:38This whole group embodies that sense of respect.
00:42And when we start with that, then who benefits?
00:45We come up with policies that help those people.
00:47And what have you done?
00:48You've led an opportunity for us to have the lower taxes,
00:52way lower deregulation,
00:54record amounts of investment that's coming into this country.
00:57We're going to be seeing lower interest rates.
00:59All of those things coming together is a gift to the working people.
01:03The policies are lifting everybody up.
01:05There's 140 million Americans that get up and go every day and drive to work.
01:10They commute.
01:11And one of the most obscene things of the prior administration was their energy policies
01:16was creating a hidden tax on those people.
01:18The poorer you were, usually the further you had to drive because you couldn't afford the housing
01:23if you were working at a hotel, if you were working in a service industry.
01:26We were taxing them.
01:27The hidden tax on them was the high cost of energy.
01:30You were perhaps one of the only leaders in the world that understood the connection between peace abroad and prosperity at home
01:37was directly connected to energy policy.
01:40You came in and said, we're going to sell energy to our friends and allies.
01:43We're going to bring prosperity at home through policies here by having lower energy prices.
01:48And we're going to stop funding wars abroad with energy policies that help their adversaries and hurt us.
01:53You said, we're going to sell energy to our friends and allies.
01:55And with the work that Jameson and Howard and Scott and everyone has done on these trade deals,
02:00we're going to have an opportunity to have a renaissance in American energy, selling energy to the world,
02:05which is going to help bring peace abroad.
02:07But the real key thing in closing I want to say is two things.
02:13One has to do with the U.S. Park Police.
02:15That's the group here in Washington, D.C.
02:17They're the oldest uniform law enforcement group in the nation.
02:22You coming out and visiting with them in person before they went out on the surge.
02:27Not only are carjackings down, muggings down, homicides down, everything down, morale is through the roof.
02:35Just like Pete saw, we've got record people signing up to want to be part of our military.
02:40You have breathed life back into the profession of law enforcement.
02:43Your respect for law enforcement is so incredible.
02:47It's making a difference.
02:48And then us giving them the tools.
02:50On a wider note for everybody here, one of the rules that under President Trump were able to change for the U.S. Park Police
02:55was they could do a pursuit.
02:57I was shocked to find out when we were talking to them, like,
02:59oh, you pull somebody over and they just drive away and you can't pursue them?
03:02I mean, like, and they said, no, we can't.
03:04They said, oh, rules.
03:05We got that rule changed in 24 hours because of President Trump's leadership.
03:09The next night they had so much fun.
03:11They pulled people over.
03:12They started to take off.
03:13They chased them.
03:14They stopped them.
03:15And then the bad guys, some of these were in cars that had stolen plates.
03:19So they take the plate off.
03:21They steal them off somebody else's car.
03:22They know the plate doesn't match.
03:24They know they're doing this thing.
03:25The bad guys in the car said, you're not supposed to chase us.
03:29Like, you're breaking the rules.
03:31The bad guys are telling us, no, we're back in action.
03:34So it's like the morale is high.
03:37They all wanted to say thank you to you.
03:39Yesterday you announced increasing the number of the U.S. Park police that we're going to hire.
03:43This is the group that protects not only our sacred monuments of democracy here,
03:48but also the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate.
03:50This is a great group, but on behalf of all law enforcement, we say thank you.
03:54And as Chris Wright was talking about electricity, I want to close with that.
03:59We've solved amazing things in seven months, but the big challenge we have against the remaining is,
04:04I mean, solving Iran's nuclear thing, that was an existential threat.
04:09China beating us in the AI arms race, that's an existential threat.
04:13We finally have a president who talks about it.
04:15You talked about it in your opening remarks.
04:17You've signed executive orders.
04:18You understand that essentially we used to say hundreds of years ago,
04:22people started saying that knowledge is power.
04:25But now, for the first time in history, we can take electricity and we can convert it into intelligence.
04:31So it's flipped.
04:32It's no longer knowledge is power.
04:34Power is also knowledge.
04:36And while we're ahead on the technology, we're way behind China on the amount of electricity they're bringing online.
04:42And your strong position to support affordable, reliable energy using our nation's resources,
04:48including those across the Department of Interior, bringing back coal mining, bringing back mining,
04:54bringing back timber.
04:55All the industries that have been killed in this country are coming back to life because of you.
04:59And with your leadership, we have a chance to not only win the AI arms race,
05:03but actually dominate it the way we're dominating in other things.
05:06So thank you, Mr. President.
05:07Thank you very much.
05:08And we're leading that race right now by a lot.
05:10And we're going to keep the electricity coming.
05:13You know, in China, they do it very quickly.
05:16They have one person that says, do it, and that's it.
05:19But essentially, we have one person that says, do it.
05:23And we've given that order.
05:25And the job they've done has been amazing.
05:27And I want to thank again, Lee, what you're doing in that regard is so important.
05:31And the rapidity, just as fast as them, because it's a question of a week versus a day.
05:38And that's not going to make the difference.
05:40But you've done fantastically.
05:42And Doug and Chris, amazing job.
