00:00Oregon's skies are burning and a beloved bird sanctuary is gone.
00:04What sparked this massive wildfire, and why could it get worse this week?
00:08A massive wildfire in Oregon, known as the Flat Fire,
00:12has already destroyed over 34 square miles near the town of Sisters.
00:16It erupted on August 21st and tore through land so fast
00:20it forced evacuations, burned homes, and destroyed native bird care,
00:24a vital bird sanctuary. This wasn't just any land.
00:28It was a wildlife conservation zone, home to ancient junipers,
00:32ponderosa pines, and five rare ecosystems, now reduced to ashes.
00:36And it's not just Oregon. In Napa County, California,
00:40the Pickett Fire has scorched 10 square miles and is threatening more than
00:44500 structures. Fires are spreading faster than ever,
00:48fueled by 50 mph winds, bone-dry brush, and near triple-digit
00:52heat. To make matters worse, forecasters warn that lightning
00:56could ignite even more fires this week. Two new wildfires,
01:00including the emigrant fire in Oregon, are growing rapidly with zero containment.
01:04As the west burns, heroes on the ground are fighting nonstop.
01:08But nature isn't giving them a break anytime soon.
01:10We'll see you next time soon.
