00:00Hi everyone, this is Gary Thompson, the clerk of the course for the Mance Grand Prix and Classic TT.
00:05Just wanted to give you an update really of where we stand today.
00:09As you well know, we've had a fantastic first week.
00:12Last week, qualifying week for both the Mance Grand Prix and Classic TT was held in fantastic weather.
00:18Absolutely glorious weather, which is unusual for this event to be honest, compared in previous years.
00:23But here we are, Wednesday 27th of August, the first race day for the Classic TT.
00:30And as you know, things have changed.
00:33We are catching the backlash of Storm Erin, that was in the Pacific.
00:41So today we have got some disruption and it is now raining.
00:46I just want to say thank you to the public for your patience, your resilience.
00:50Obviously, I'm trying to keep roads as open as long as possible to minimise the disruption to the public.
00:56I also want to say thank you to the competitors, to all the officials, to all the marshals.
01:00Obviously, we are going to need to be a bit flexible.
01:03But again, thank you for your patience and resilience.
01:06We will get through today.
01:07Obviously, this current weather front is going to pass through and the likelihood is it's going to get brighter for this afternoon and into this evening.
01:17But the programme is going to be a bit flexible.
01:20So, again, I thank you for your patience and resilience.
01:22The plan, the plan at the moment, provided the roads dry on time, is for the roads to close at 1 o'clock, for the Classic Junior race to take place at 2 o'clock with a one-lap race,
01:36the Classic TT Lightweight to take place at 2 o'clock.
01:39Then, obviously, we need to have the roads open between 16.30 and 1.800, so between 4.30 and 6 o'clock.
01:47We then close the roads again at 6.00.
01:49We have the Formula One race over two laps at 6.30, with the 90s parade and the Cycar parade going out together at about 1940 to 1945.
02:01That's the plan.
02:02Tomorrow is looking not good, really.
02:05So, tomorrow is a contingency day, but I can't really see us getting much in at the moment tomorrow, given the weather forecast that's due to come in.
02:12So, that's why we're kind of really going to try and push to get it in today.
02:17And then that will leave us with the Historic Senior Junior race on Friday morning, with the Classic Senior race in the afternoon.
02:26Obviously, we'll keep you updated as we go along, but again, I just want to thank everybody for your patience and resilience.
