Let the music play: Romania begins historic classical music tribute to composer George Enescu

The 27th edition of the George Enescu International Festival is underway with classical music, opera, interactive events and much more taking place throughout Romania as the country marks the 70th anniversary of the death of its most famous composer.

00:00For the next 29 days, Romania becomes the most important stage of Universal Music.
00:06Over 4000 musicians from 28 countries and over 100 concerts in Bucharest and other cities of the country
00:15will mark 70 years since the death of Giorgio Enescu.
00:19It's a special edition because, as always, we present the music of Giorgio Enescu in context of all the other composers that we present.
00:34It's so important for us to be able to offer the world this beautiful moment in which the music that speaks directly to our heart
00:43is shared by all those that are able to come to the concerts.
00:47Each time I come here, I feel like at home.
00:50It reminds me also of my country, which is just close to where I was born.
00:56And this year, I will perform with Naestro Macellaro, a Hacetorian violin concerto.
01:02The opening concert features the orchestra and choir of the Giorgio Enescu Philharmonic
01:08and the renowned Serbian-French violinist, Nemaja Radulovic.
01:15We also organize, with the help of our local partners, concerts in more than 15 cities in Romania.
01:26And I would like to mention here, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Konstanta, with our partners from the SEAS Festival.
01:37And also, Imbraila, Arad, Satu Mare.
01:40So, all over Romania, you will be able to witness and to listen to great music, to Enescu's music.

01:53George Enescu is considered the greatest Romanian musician of the 20th century.
