00:00Should gerrymandering be outlawed altogether? Should it be allowed?
00:07Great to be here, Leanne. And yes, I could hear some of it. And I don't see the point of it. I really don't.
00:16Districts have to be reapportioned periodically as the population grows or changes. It has to be done.
00:24And some people, like your previous guest mentioned, put their faith in independent commissions.
00:34Well, no commission is truly independent, and they're all staffed by the party in power at the moment of creation.
00:41So you have an independent commission in California and another one in Massachusetts that are staffed with Democrats
00:50and have been so widely successful that even though 40 percent of the population are registered Republicans,
00:58and in the case of Massachusetts, 36 percent voted for Trump, they have zero representatives in Congress.
01:06So this is part of the political game. It started with Elbridge Gerry in 1812, one of the founding fathers, actually.
01:19And it has been going on for, what is it now, 220-some years.
01:25No, this is not a big problem. It cuts both ways.
01:32And it really suggests to me that it's nothing but an opportunity for what we call kabuki, political theater,
01:45with no other intention than that of projecting a national image for Gavin Newsom and nothing else.
01:53This is going to die down pretty soon.
01:58California will not be able to change much until 28 if they do.
02:03And if they do, nothing will change because they already gerrymandered the state to the hilt.
02:10Massachusetts is threatening. Well, will we gerrymandered too?
02:15Oh, well, what is going to change?
02:17There are already no Republicans in the congressional delegation.
02:23There are early Republicans in the congressional delegation.
02:26I believe that that there is more about the folks who who are building on theoffs and organizations.
02:29In Korea, we have a bigarea for general staff.
02:31Here are many of you these laws that have been held up for,
02:34there are no будут people that aren't done.
02:41Especially for the victims here.
02:46We don't have good news about these.
02:47Anyways, there are new people who are doing some work in front of us.
