In this tutorial, we will learn how to use the VLOOKUP function for exact matches in Microsoft Excel. Unlike approximate lookups, the exact match option allows you to search for a specific value in a table and return the corresponding data with precision. We will cover the VLOOKUP syntax, explain each argument, and show examples where you need to retrieve exact data such as employee IDs, product codes, or student records. By the end of this lesson, you will be confident in applying VLOOKUP for accurate data searches.

00:00So let's say as per the employee ID, I want to display out the salary in this section.
00:05In that case, I can go around onto the salary section, press equals and type in VLOOKUP right
00:11here, open up the bracket just like this, and take the ID section as reference, which is as one.
00:17Press comma and then select out the table array right here, just like this. Press comma right
00:23here. And then I want to display the fourth section, which is the salary. So I'm just going
00:28to go for four right here. And I want an exact math. So I'm just going to go ahead and type
00:33in false right here, just like this and press enter. So now as I go ahead and type in a value
00:39like 101, it shows 50,000. And if I were to go for 105 right here, just like this, it
00:46shows 52 right here. But if I were to go for 102.2 right here, then it shows NA because it
00:53is looking for that exact value.
