Amy Klobuchar: Trump Is 'Whipping Up These Unnecessary Crises' To Distract From Real Issues

During the summer meeting of the Democratic National Committee on Monday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) accused Trump of distracting Americans from issues within his administration.

00:00And that's why when you go home from these meetings and you leave our great state fair,

00:05I want you to remember that we've got to organize.

00:07And especially you in the red and the purple states know we need to organize.

00:11Democrats, yeah, but we also have to organize independents and moderate Republicans

00:16who in the past have stood up for democracy, depending on the election.

00:21Thank you, one person.

00:22They have stood up.

00:26Yeah!

00:27They have stood up state by state and precinct by precinct.

00:33Because week after week, day after day, and this is what they get, what regular people get,

00:38people that come up to me at the state fair at my booth,

00:41they get that this administration is whipping up these unnecessary crises to distract from the real world,

00:48to distract from their high rent, to distract from that they don't have enough housing,

00:52to distract from that they don't have enough child care.

00:54He's upturning the economy.

00:56He's targeting people.

00:58And week after week, we get a new spin cycle of fallout.

01:03And so what does he do?

01:04He blames other people, right?

01:06This is why that Fox News poll, one of my favorite ones that came out,

01:10showing him way underwater and handling the economy.

01:13I don't know if you know what he did on Truth Social after that.

01:16He put a post out and he blamed Fox News.

01:18He said, Fox News is corrupt, and that's why MAGA hates them, except their anchors are great.

01:25That's what he did.

01:26So he blames them.

01:28He blames the statisticians for his bad job numbers.

01:31Remember that?

01:32In fact, he fired the woman who had the audacity to tell the truth and then blamed her for getting the facts straight.

01:39I mean the irony when your response to a bad jobs report is to fire somebody.

01:45But that's what he did.

01:46He blames immigrants for his dismantling of due process and our Constitution.

01:51He blames mail-in ballots for his inevitable midterm election losses.

01:56He even blamed Democrats for the Epstein files, which, as I noted, is like the CEO who got caught on camera blaming Coldplay.

02:06Trump's blast radius.

02:11His blast radius.

02:13It is affecting all of us.

02:16But we're not joining that We Suck Club.

02:18We're not getting sucked into it when they try to divide us on every single issue online

02:23because we have a more important job to do.

02:27Complaining about each other to each other, it's not how we win again.

02:33It sure doesn't help the families who are getting torched in his economy.

02:38It sure isn't going to help the union workers who are thrown out of the jobs that they are devoting themselves to,

02:45working to help people for years.

02:47It's not going to help the union workers who are getting thrown out of hospitals

02:51because the hospitals have to close down or curtail their services.

02:55It's not going to help the union workers who are out there affected by those tariffs.

02:59Because when unions are strong, our economy is strong.

03:03And when our economy is strong, America is strong.
