00:00This video was brought to you by SimpliSafe. There's no safe like SimpliSafe.
00:06Police just arrived at an airport parking lot to investigate reports of an abandoned truck.
00:13Initially, it seemed like just another routine call with nothing unusual, but that's when it hit them.
00:21It smells. I think it smells like detox. It kind of smells like something.
00:25Inside the truck lay four brutalized and dismembered bodies hidden inside boxes.
00:32What officers didn't know at the time is that 11 more bodies lay buried and hidden in remote areas of the state.
00:40An active, twisted serial killer was on the loose, and detectives were already months behind.
00:49Remember the last time you saw them? Maybe a couple of months ago.
00:51We don't care about anything else other than five years.
00:57Matt, Jennifer, and Justin.
00:59Whoever did that is our focus.
01:02I tied everything together yesterday when he did that. You know what I mean?
01:04I know he lost them three, man. I know he did.
01:07Taking these other 11, did you take them all to the same place?
01:11If you ever came back out to New Mexico, would you be willing to take us?
01:14It started on a Sunday afternoon when police in Grants, New Mexico received a mysterious call.
01:27A landlord had just discovered something he described as disturbing while cleaning out an evicted tenant's home.
01:33Officers immediately headed to the address to investigate.
01:36So this guy hasn't paid us since July, but with COVID going on, we couldn't evict him, so we've had nothing but problems with him.
01:48Anyways, we finally got him to move out, so I've seen him today.
01:54We haven't come by. We haven't messed with him.
01:56Hopefully that doesn't stick his ass, you know.
01:58When I came by, he says, I'm going to leave you a pile to throw.
02:02Well, we didn't know which pile, so we started to load it up while we were moving some things.
02:08And we found this puppy in this box underneath some of the kid's stuff, you know.
02:17Okay.
02:18So we go to put the puppy in the bag because we were going to bury it.
02:21And then we see that they had tied a cord on its neck.
02:26Okay.
02:26Well, we've had, like I said, nothing but problems with these guys, so I at least want to put a report on file.
02:32I know we won't be able to say who did it and when, but that needs to be associated with him, you know,
02:38because we're going to take him to court for a lot of other things, and if I can just have that on file, it'll help.
02:43Okay.
02:44It was clear the puppy had suffered a horrific death.
02:47Animal control arrived shortly afterwards and confirmed it had been deliberately tortured, noting a cord tied tightly around its neck.
02:56The cruelty of the scene was deeply unsettling, and the officer immediately recognized they were dealing with someone truly twisted.
03:04Yeah, that was just straight at least.
03:07Absolutely.
03:09That's just sad.
03:10I just sat right there and just really got to me because it's like, that's just not, that's not cool at all, huh?
03:15No.
03:17Absolutely.
03:18Cool, awful people.
03:20Yeah.
03:20Unfortunately for investigators, the puppy was just the first body, and in the coming days, police would uncover more gruesome scenes,
03:38strange disappearances, and disturbing evidence pointing to something far more calculated than anyone expected.
03:46That same day, Detective Robert Turney was assigned a missing persons case involving 19-year-old Matthew Miller.
03:57Matthew's grandmother had called 911 a couple of days earlier, worried because she hadn't seen or heard from him in nearly a week.
04:04It turned out police were already familiar with Matthew and knew he had previously struggled with substance abuse,
04:10so initially they assumed his disappearance was drug-related, maybe he overdosed somewhere.
04:16But Matthew's family insisted something was different this time, and urgently requested to speak with detectives.
04:23Trusting their instincts, Detective Turney decided to visit Matthew's grandmother, where he would discover some unsettling new possibilities.
04:30So you guys can help me out by just calling around to hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation places, other county jails, and just see if he's there.
04:55So prepare for the worst and hope for the best, okay?
04:59But I will tell you, I had more than enough to arrest Matthew several times, and he's not one of those people that I wanted to arrest.
05:08You know, Matthew is not going to pull a gun on anybody, right, to get his drugs?
05:12Yeah, no.
05:13He's not that kind of person.
05:14Yes, yes.
05:16That's my main point.
05:17And he probably has a little bit of a complex, because he knows he's that kind of person.
05:24And so he's getting real hesitant to reach out and tell you guys the actual truth about this person took a marriage with me.
05:29Yeah, no, he's not.
05:30You know what I'm saying?
05:31So just forgive him.
05:32All you can do is tell him you love him, and you forgive him, and go from there.
05:36After rehashing some information with Matthew's family, Detective Turney would go on to learn some critical details.
05:42Matthew's girlfriend told the family she saw him getting into a vehicle with several other people, including a blonde woman named Jennifer Lannan, someone Matthew had recently been spending time with.
05:53He also learned that Matthew often spent time with a close friend named Justin Mata and his girlfriend, Leonie Calzada.
06:01All three were known to use drugs together.
06:04Acting quickly on these promising new leads, police began searching locations Matthew was known to frequent.
06:09And soon enough, they located Matthew's Chevy Colorado truck, parked and seemingly abandoned, within a few blocks away from Leonie and Justin's residence.
06:19The truck was dirty, locked, and appeared to have been parked there for several days.
06:25Inside, detectives found clothing and personal belongings, as well as several unsettling items, including a pair of rubber gloves and a shovel lying in the truck's bed.
06:35They also found multiple cell phones that were damaged in the front and back seats.
06:40It seemed clear Matthew hadn't intended to leave the truck there, and detectives sensed something wasn't right.
06:47Immediately, investigators canvassed the area and found surveillance cameras nearby, one of which captured Matthew's truck arriving at Leonie and Justin's address on January 26th, just three days before Matthew was reported missing.
07:01With these new alarming discoveries, Detective Turney knew the next logical step was to urgently speak with Matthew's friends, Justin Mata and Leonie Calzada, hoping they could shed some light on the situation.
07:12However, when they arrived at the couple's residence, they would quickly realize, Matthew wasn't the only one missing.
07:20This is Leonie Calzada, the girlfriend of Matthew's close friend, Justin Mata.
07:49And someone detectives suspected might know exactly what happened to Matthew.
07:54This is very, very important.
07:58We're looking for Matthew Miller.
08:00He's been missing for over two weeks.
08:03When was the last time he was here?
08:05Maybe a year ago, I think.
08:07A year ago?
08:07When I first got this place, yeah.
08:08When I first got it, last January.
08:10He hasn't been here since then.
08:12Okay, what if I got video of his vehicle?
08:15Maybe there's things happening here, bud.
08:16I'm just having it myself.
08:17Okay.
08:19When was the last time you saw him again?
08:21When he was in the case, once it came over, I first got this place in a year ago.
08:26You think Justin would have?
08:28He would have, yeah, probably.
08:29When you weren't here?
08:30When you were, I just didn't think that came out.
08:33Because they said all that, yeah.
08:35But he left on the 17th and then came back.
08:3817th, that's a long time ago.
08:39Yeah, and then I went to talk to the guy in the team and he's like, yeah, they left each other.
08:43They have three tonight and they're in Arizona.
08:44Do you have any kind of way to contact Justin?
08:48Do you have a phone number?
08:48No, he just left him.
08:51What's his phone number?
08:53Email, Facebook?
08:54He took my phone number.
08:55My phone number.
08:56I took my phone.
08:58Yeah.
08:59I took a wire.
09:00Everybody.
09:00When's the last time you had any kind of communication with you?
09:04That's when he said I can go by Coke.
09:05So, you want me to go by Coke?
09:06What I would like to do, all right, is look around your house for any kind of evidence of Matthew Miller or any kind of foul play.
09:17I'm not looking for anything other than that.
09:19According to Leone, her boyfriend, Justin, had also mysteriously vanished and she hadn't seen him since January 17th, nearly two weeks before Matthew was even reported missing.
09:30But investigators knew something wasn't adding up when Leone insisted she hadn't seen Matthew in nearly a year.
09:37Surveillance footage clearly showed Matthew's truck outside her residence just days before he disappeared.
09:44With their suspicion mounting, detectives decided to search Leone's home, hoping to uncover whether she might be hiding something.
09:51Or someone.
09:52Did you notice anything strange that happened around here?
09:57Did you notice anything different around here?
09:59Like, something that was...
10:01Any kind of blood?
10:04Needles?
10:07What about needles or f***ing pills or anything like that?
10:10Yeah, that he's using.
10:11I'm not sure.
10:12I'm not sure.
10:14I like the lights.
10:16Yeah.
10:18Look at the gas.
10:20There's already...
10:21I can only find one person dead in a trunk per year.
10:30That's my max.
10:32Despite their best efforts, investigators found no signs of foul play or violence.
10:37Still, Detective Turney couldn't shake the feeling that something was overlooked,
10:42so he returned to speak briefly with Leone, unaware she'd drop a crucial clue.
10:48Stay down.
10:49Leone revealed that Justin had recently taken off with another woman named Jennifer, supposedly heading to Arizona to re-up on drugs and make some money.
11:13With this new detail, Detective Turney now found himself investigating the disappearances of three different people.
11:21Matthew Miller, Justin Mata, and now, potentially, Jennifer.
11:25Not yet aware just how closely connected these cases really were.
11:29So, to move forward, Turney quickly looked into Jennifer and discovered she had recently been reported missing by her ex-husband, Sean Lannan.
11:37That name sounded familiar to Detective Turney, because just days earlier, officers had responded to a disturbing call at 817 Kingman Avenue,
11:46The same property where the remains of a tortured poppy had been uncovered, and the tenants evicted from that very house, Sean and Jennifer Lannan.
11:58Finally, investigators were starting to connect the dots.
12:02Three people, all closely linked through drugs and personal relationships, had vanished within days of each other.
12:08Detective Turney realized it was time to canvass the neighborhood surrounding Sean and Jennifer's former home,
12:15hoping a neighbor might have seen something suspicious or could offer the lead they desperately needed.
12:20That's when they found a neighbor whose security camera was pointed directly at Sean and Jennifer's old residence,
12:27and what the investigators saw on the footage would finally bring some much-needed clarity to their case.
12:32Without this neighbor's camera, detectives might have hit another frustrating dead end,
12:37and it shows just how important reliable security can be, because when something happens, every second matters.

14:07On January 26th, Matthew is seen entering Sean's home,
14:14but investigators never see him leave.
14:17Hours later, Sean is spotted on camera driving away in Matthew's truck,
14:23and when he returns, he's alone, on foot, and Matthew is nowhere to be seen.
14:28Two days later, on January 28th,
14:32the same camera recorded someone loading household items into a red Dodge Dakota
14:36parked outside the residence and driving away.
14:39This CCTV footage marked a critical turning point for investigators.
14:44For the first time, detectives had visual proof of Matthew at Jennifer and Sean's residence.
14:50With this significant new lead, the next step was clear.
14:53Detective Turney needed to speak directly to Sean.
14:56Only his account could clarify what happened that day
14:59and potentially reveal crucial details about the missing trio.
15:03The next morning, Detective Turney reached out to Sean
15:06and agreed to sit down for a formal interview.
15:09Whatever Sean said next had the potential to shift the direction of this case completely.
15:14So, first things first, let's get her into this missing, okay?
15:20Okay.
15:21Do you, have you ever seen Matthew Miller, you know who I'm talking about?
15:25Was he over, over at your house?
15:27Yeah, it's been a lease.
15:29I might be in a case, but it's definitely been a lease.
15:32A Ford and a third?
15:34Was his truck ever parked at your house?
15:37Yeah.
15:38For more than in like a day, overnight?
15:40I'm not sure.
15:41Have you ever driven this truck?
15:43Yeah.
15:43You've driven this truck?
15:45Yeah.
15:45When was the last time you drove this truck?
15:47One year.
15:48A couple weeks ago.
15:50A couple weeks ago?
15:52A couple weeks ago.
15:53So, again, when did you find out that they split,
15:59they took off to Arizona, ran away together, whatever?
16:04It was seven weeks ago.
16:05They came back and we came back and we came back.
16:07Did you have anything to do with Jennifer's disappearance, Matthew's disappearance?
16:14Do you think something bad happened to Matthew and Jennifer?
16:19I know Jennifer Druckerchurch used to be that.
16:22When she came back with more f***ing old bills than I could imagine.
16:28She loved those.
16:29Man, I just got a really, really bad feeling about all this.
16:34You don't...
16:35I do.
16:36You don't seem...
16:38I've been ridden in this circle for a minute.
16:43Has she ever done this before?
16:45Yeah.
16:45During the interview, Detective Turney notices something strange.
16:50Sean remains unnervingly calm, especially considering his ex-wife
16:55and the mother of his three young children has just vanished.
17:00Turney begins to question whether Sean is simply a bystander caught up in a tragic situation
17:05or if he knows more than he's letting on.
17:10The next day, Detective Turney would get his answer
17:13as police received an unexpected call from a man named Josh Hall.
17:17Josh was an acquaintance of Matthew Miller
17:19and claimed he'd recently witnessed something that deeply concerned him,
17:23directly related to the strange disappearances.
17:26Investigators quickly arranged for a meeting with Josh,
17:29hoping his account would finally provide the breakthrough they were looking for.
17:33Hey Matthew, what's going on with Matthew, man?
17:37That's my chick's cousin.
17:38Check this out, man.
17:39Check this out.
17:40Follow me.
17:40Check this out, man.
17:41Yesterday.
17:42All right.
17:43I was like, Kelly.
17:44Right, Sean.
17:45Come on, we'll talk to you.
17:47I guess he had to go talk to you or something.
17:48Talk to the cops.
17:49He goes into Kelly's, he's in the gloves,
17:51stashes them back, gave it to the ceiling.
17:54Gun, jacked her, his wife's IDs, clothes, some other shit.
17:58Everything.
17:59Just stashes them.
18:00Since he had to go talk to the cops.
18:01I was there.
18:04I was there.
18:06Sean killed all three of them, man.
18:09I'm telling you, he murked all three of them people, man.
18:11He's putting it off on Mata that he ran off and everything.
18:14Why in the ****?
18:15Yeah.
18:16I don't know, man.
18:17Kelly's like my sister.
18:17I know all the ****, you know?
18:19Got killed all three of them.
18:20I know he did, man.
18:21I know he did.
18:22He did, man.
18:23I'm telling you.
18:23Come on.
18:24They find a truck right by his **** house.
18:26You know what I'm saying?
18:27And he goes to the line of the trip.
18:29You know what I mean?
18:31Damn.
18:31Mata was **** his chick.
18:33Mata was **** there.
18:35I haven't seen him by himself.
18:37Get rid of a body.
18:38He's a smart man.
18:40What a man?
18:40He's a kid.
18:41Come on, look how long they've been missing for.
18:43He just barely reported his wife missing.
18:45His wife's been missing since like the 23rd.
18:47Since last month.
18:48You know what I mean?
18:49She's been missing the same time Mata's been missing.
18:50And after he left and everything,
18:52he was going to talk to you.
18:53Kelly went in there and opened up.
18:54He was strapped.
18:56Her IDs.
18:57Some other personal letters.
18:59Some clothes.
19:00And what did she do with the **** house?
19:02She wigged out.
19:03I had her with me the whole time.
19:04She was tripping.
19:06And then Danny Lemos took off with you.
19:09Danny Lemos took the gun.
19:12Took the **** shot.
19:13What vehicle was it?
19:14Danny walking.
19:16Walking?
19:17Yeah, he was walking.
19:19I'm telling you, man.
19:19Like, he tripped me out yesterday.
19:22That's how I tied.
19:22I tied everything together yesterday when he did that.
19:24You know what I mean?
19:25Like, I know.
19:26I know he lost them three, man.
19:27I know he did.
19:28Josh claims that Sean arrived at the residence of a woman named Kelly DeSoto,
19:33carrying a bag he carefully hid in the ceiling of her home
19:36before leaving to speak with detectives at the police station.
19:40After Sean left, Kelly discovered the hidden bag,
19:44removed a gun from inside,
19:45and handed it off to a man named Danny Lemos,
19:49locally known as Dog,
19:51who quickly took the weapon and left on foot.
19:54When Sean returned and realized the bag was missing,
19:58he became visibly agitated,
19:59smashing his phone on the ground before storming out.
20:03These troubling claims raised immediate suspicion around everyone involved,
20:08including two new persons of interest,
20:10Kelly DeSoto and Daniel Lemos,
20:12both closely associated with Sean and Jennifer based on Josh's statement.
20:16Danny Lemos was nowhere to be found at the time,
20:20so Detective Turney knew he urgently needed to verify Josh's account by speaking directly with Kelly,
20:25and, more importantly,
20:27find out if she was hiding anything that could help connect the dots in this increasingly tangled case.
20:33When investigators first arrived at Kelly's house,
20:43she agreed to meet them at the station for an interview,
20:46but refused their offer of a ride,
20:48saying her boss would bring her in about 30 minutes.
20:51However, when the time came,
20:53Kelly never showed up at the police station.
20:55It was a major red flag,
20:57and it made investigators even more suspicious of her.
21:01Two hours later,
21:02Detective Turney returned to her house,
21:04suspecting that Kelly might be stalling for time
21:06or trying to cover something up.
21:08Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, it's Robert, Ben,
21:14the detectives.
21:17Hi.
21:18I think she hasn't gotten here yet,
21:20so I talked to my lawyer,
21:22and he told me that I didn't have to go with you guys.
21:25You don't have to.
21:26What is it about? Can you tell me?
21:27It's about the disappearance of...
21:29Of who?
21:30Matthew Miller.
21:31And Joshua.
21:33Thank you.
21:34Sean Limer.
21:35Thank you.
21:36Sean is not missing.
21:38I know he's not.
21:39This time, Kelly's behavior was noticeably different.
21:44She appeared distraught,
21:45reluctant to cooperate,
21:47and quick to mention her lawyer.
21:49Detective Turney felt certain
21:50that she was withholding crucial information
21:52and decided to press harder.
21:55Was Sean here yesterday?
21:56He came down yesterday.
21:57How many times?
21:58I don't know.
22:00He came inside.
22:02He told me that he had to go down on the floor.
22:05of Jennifer missing.
22:07Did Sean hide anything in the house
22:10that was later taken?
22:11No.
22:12Did he destroy his phone?
22:14Yeah, right here.
22:15I thought he destroyed his phone.
22:17Did he bring a bag inside
22:21that had a gun?
22:25No.
22:25Or any of Jennifer's identification cards?
22:28I don't see anything.
22:29I don't see anything.
22:30Did you look in it?
22:31No.
22:32Did Daniel almost take the gun later?
22:34No.
22:35Do you think he did something to Jennifer?
22:37I don't see that.
22:40He doesn't seem like that type of patient.
22:43I think you're lying to me
22:44about the bag and the gun
22:46and Jennifer's idea.
22:48I'm not.
22:49I don't know anything about...
22:50Like, he asked me.
22:51He said, where's...
22:53You didn't bring anything in?
22:54Yeah, no.
22:54I didn't see him bring anything in.
22:56So you're forgetting what I already spoke to.
22:58I know.
23:00Sean has some stuff in your shed.
23:01Yeah, he doesn't move in.
23:03I don't know.
23:04Any questions?
23:04Nothing yesterday?
23:05No.
23:06I don't think so.
23:07Have you went through it?
23:07No.
23:08After some more pressure,
23:10Kelly admitted she had several suspicious bags in her shed,
23:13supposedly belonging to Sean.
23:16Curious about the contents of the bags,
23:18detectives quickly followed Kelly to take a closer look.
23:21I'll take a shower, hot tea.
23:23Yeah.
23:24I put that box there.
23:26It's not his area.
23:28I'm sure it's not.
23:30And that paint can is not his.
23:32This one?
23:32No, that's one.
23:33That's his.
23:36That...
23:36That's...
23:37Back to you.
23:39Huh?
23:39Did you have my face else?
23:41On Jackson?
23:42Yeah.
23:42Any one?
23:43No.
23:44She let us search that fake from head to toe.
23:47And outside too.
23:49Despite their best efforts,
23:51detectives found no clear signs of blood or evidence
23:54linking back to the missing people.
23:56It was a frustrating dead end,
23:59and the chances of finding them seemed increasingly slim.
24:02At this stage, investigators had narrowed down their focus to several individuals close to the missing trio,
24:10each with conflicting stories and questionable behavior that kept detectives on edge.
24:15But without hard evidence, options were increasingly running out.
24:18Desperate for a breakthrough,
24:20Detective Turney secured a search warrant for Sean and Jennifer's former home at 817 Kingman Avenue.
24:26Unsure exactly what or who they might encounter,
24:30officers cautiously approached the property,
24:32prepared for any potential threat.
24:35or her potential Dinge on the board.
24:36What the heck?
24:37What the heck?
24:38What the heck?
24:44Well, well...
24:47I'm here.
24:48Grazie a tutti.
25:18Again, investigators were too late.
25:21The house had already undergone extensive renovations, carpets removed, drywall stripped,
25:26any potential evidence completely erased.
25:30Unbeknownst to investigators at the time, the critical evidence they desperately needed
25:34was sitting in an abandoned truck, miles away, just waiting to be discovered.
25:42For now, though, every possible lead was exhausted,
25:45and Detective Turney knew it was time for a more direct approach.
25:49So he called Sean once more, determined to extract something, anything,
25:54that could finally lead investigators to the missing trio.
25:57Hello?
26:02Hey, is this Sean?
26:04Yes, it is.
26:05Hey, Sean, this is Detective Turney. How are you doing?
26:07Good. How are you doing today?
26:08Good, man. I've been trying to get ahold of your other number, and it's not working.
26:13No, I thought it was. Sorry.
26:14So you know anything new?
26:18No, I haven't heard anything.
26:20Nope.
26:20Okay. Are you still around town?
26:23No, I'm in Albuquerque.
26:25No, we've made some progress here and there.
26:28I've got a bunch of pictures of different vehicles I'd like you to take a look at,
26:33see if you could help me identify them.
26:35Sean sounded cooperative and willing to help, promising Detective Turney he would come in for questioning.
26:54Yet, Sean never showed up.
26:56The next day, Turney even offered to personally pick Sean up and bring him to the station.
27:02But once again, Sean failed to appear.
27:04At this point, Turney felt certain Sean was deliberately stalling and knew they couldn't afford to waste any more time.
27:11He's done playing cat and mouse.
27:17With the CCTV footage and witness statements pointing directly at Sean and Danny as crucial figures,
27:23Detective Turney knew he needed to bring them in for questioning.
27:27So investigators dug deeper into both men's backgrounds.
27:30And that's when they hit the jackpot.
27:32Sean had an outstanding warrant for missing a court appearance related to a 2020 assault and battery charge.
27:38It was the break they needed.
27:40On February 25th, officers located Sean in Albuquerque and arrested him without incident,
27:45transporting him directly to the Grants Police Department for questioning.
27:50Detective Turney's goals for the interview were simple.
27:52Determine exactly what Sean knew about the missing trio and find out where Danny Lemos had vanished after taking the alleged gun.
27:59Let's go back to Matthew's truck.
28:03Okay, so it's, it's, it starts to back in there and you're the last one who drove it.
28:10Right.
28:10Right.
28:10So let's go backward from where you, when you parked it.
28:14Where did you go with it that day?
28:16Do you remember specifically?
28:17The little places I ever traveled was, went to McDonald's.
28:21I thought that was the last day we, we never used it.
28:24And, um, I got Smith's, we got water, food, Walmart, that's it.
28:29And, um, is there a tracker on the truck?
28:32My phone was always on, like, I pulled along.
28:35I don't, I'm not going in the mountains.
28:37I have children.
28:38I don't have any bodies.
28:39Like, I literally, I'm a, I was a medic in the army.
28:43Like, I had three kids.
28:46I don't think you're capable of doing something like this.
28:49I think you're very capable of defending yourself, though.
28:52An accident, it happens.
28:54If it was an accident, I would be like, uh, it's self-defense.
28:57Because, because self-defense speaks a little bit, literally, no.
29:00The biggest fear in my house, why the pistol stayed in the house, was, was kind of, like, dulled.
29:05Like, you know, that guy scares me, I'm not going to lie about it.
29:08Yeah.
29:09So.
29:09Who told you to park it there?
29:12Justin?
29:14Justin was there at the house.
29:16Talking with, like, they're all chewing on the soup.
29:19Who's all there?
29:20Jennifer.
29:22Justin.
29:23And Matthew.
29:24And Matthew.
29:25And he gets a boatload of pills from him.
29:28And they're like, we're going to go score.
29:31I mean, they didn't know money.
29:32Nothing.
29:33So you can take a drug to the kids.
29:35No, they leave the truck.
29:37And literally, I'm like, well, I need to go.
29:39Like, can I get some fucking groceries or some shit?
29:41Oh, okay.
29:42And literally, I'm like, wait, what are we doing with the truck?
29:45He's like, leave it.
29:46I'm like, yeah, leave it.
29:47We should hear.
29:47Like, no.
29:49I said, get a compartment.
29:50It's fine.
29:50I just, no.
29:51I need to go to the dumpsters.
29:52I need to go to the dollars and longer.
29:55You know.
29:56And so they told you in the house, when you're done with it, to park it at the Lubbock Apartments.
30:02Matthew wanted to park it down the street.
30:04And he said, no, my buddy's over there near the park.
30:08Just leave it there.
30:10As the interview continued, Sean seemed to have an answer for everything, including the
30:14CCTV footage, claiming he only moved the truck at Matthew and Justin's request.
30:18He also appeared to casually downplay the entire incident, insisting the trio's disappearances were simply part of a drug-related business venture, nothing criminal.
30:29But Detective Turney wasn't buying it.
30:32He knew Sean's explanation didn't match witness statements, and his earlier actions were too suspicious to ignore.
30:38But without solid proof, Turney couldn't directly refute Sean's story.
30:42So, to move forward, Detective Turney changed tactics.
30:46He decided to deliberately introduce Danny Lemos into the conversation, offering Sean an easy scapegoat.
30:52If Sean took the bait, Turney might finally uncover what Sean was hiding, or at least gain insight into what really happened to the missing trio.
31:01Did Danny kill him?
31:05I have no idea.
31:07I literally spent most of my time with the kids.
31:09If I had to guess who would kill him, it would be the guy saying, if I could dispose of bodies, I'm going to put him in my pig.
31:14And he showed me the pig one day, because it's helping Matt's house.
31:16This is real charm, I don't know.
31:18I don't have any interest for Matthew.
31:20I don't know much about him.
31:20Talk to dog.
31:22If someone's going to move a body and put it somewhere, my guess, the creepy dude that talks about pigs.
31:27Just as planned, the moment Danny Lemos' name came up, Sean seized the opportunity and implicated him.
31:54Pointing to Danny's violent nature and even suggesting his ability to dispose of bodies using pigs.
32:01Beyond those accusations, however, Sean stuck to his story for the rest of the interview, denying any involvement in the disappearance.
32:08Without solid proof against him, detectives had no choice but to end their questioning.
32:13Still, Sean wasn't completely free.
32:16His outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court meant he'd spend the next seven days in custody, and officers immediately transported him to the local jail.
32:27Investigators spent the following week interviewing acquaintances, re-examining evidence, and piecing together scattered leads.
32:34During their interview, one detail caught Detective Turney's attention.
32:38The mysterious red Ford truck that was spotted parked outside Sean's residence, later leaving with unknown contents loaded in the back.
32:47Investigators had not yet located this truck, and Turney strongly suspected it might hold something crucial to their case.
32:54For now, though, three people remained missing, and police narrowed their focus to two prime suspects.
33:00Sean Lannan, who was recorded on surveillance driving Matthew's truck and potentially connected to the missing red truck,
33:07and Danny Lamos, who allegedly received a handgun connected to Sean before disappearing himself.
33:13With each passing day, Turney grew more convinced that the missing trio had been murdered,
33:18and that their two prime suspects likely held the answers.
33:21But the window to find something conclusive was quickly closing.
33:26Because on March 3rd, Sean completed his short jail sentence and was released back onto the streets significantly, raising the stakes.
33:34Now facing the possibility of losing another prime suspect, Detective Turney knew he had to act fast.
33:40All he needed was just one single lead.
33:44Some hint of where the bodies might be hidden.
33:56On March 5th, officers received a call from the security at Albuquerque's Sunport Airport about an abandoned red Ford Ranger,
34:04eerily similar to the one from surveillance footage gathered during the investigation.
34:09What officers found inside would confirm the gruesome truth they'd been searching for.
34:14It kind of smells.
34:26It kind of smells, but I mean...
34:28Not to like decompose it or anything that I mean.
34:37Oh yeah.
34:38Oh yeah.
34:39Oh yeah.
34:39Oh yeah.
34:44You guys want to get you guys out here, huh?
34:48Yeah.
34:49We called it in by 1.30, but they said they didn't want to send anybody out here.
34:56There's a pretty foul smell coming from the vehicle.
34:59Yeah.
34:59Every so often, I don't know if you notice.
35:01Yeah, I can't really tell what it was.
35:03You already sound like...
35:05I can't really think it smelled like decomp body or something like that, but I don't know.
35:08I can smell something, but I can't really tell what it was.
35:12It's almost a smell like dirty.
35:14It's a big deal almost, but yeah, I don't know.
35:17We'll check that they didn't like this stuff, so...
35:20In the back of the truck were several sealed storage bins, emitting an unmistakable smell
35:27of decay.
35:28And inside were the dismembered bodies of Jennifer Lannan, Matthew Miller, and Justin Mata.
35:36Jennifer had been shot at close range in the head.
35:39Justin had also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, along with severe blunt force injuries,
35:44and Matthew's body showed clear signs of massive head trauma, evidence he'd also been beaten
35:49to death.
35:50But the horrors didn't end there.
35:53Hidden beneath a tarp in the passenger seat was yet another body.
35:58Randall Apostolon, the truck's owner.
36:00His body showed signs of severe blunt force trauma, and a bloodied hammer found nearby was
36:06clearly the weapon used to kill him.
36:08Investigators found more disturbing evidence inside the truck.
36:12Multiple serrated knives, stained with dried blood, a handsaw, and several pairs of industrial
36:17gloves, all clearly pointing to a calculated, cold-blooded murder.
36:23It was still unclear to investigators why Randall had been murdered or how his death was connected
36:28to the other three, but they wouldn't have to wait long to find out.
36:32Detectives urgently turned to the Albuquerque Airport's surveillance cameras, knowing the
36:36truck hadn't driven itself there, and it didn't take long before they spotted exactly
36:41who they were looking for.
36:44On March 3rd, 2021, just two days before the gruesome discovery, the airport's cameras captured
36:50Sean Lannan driving the truck into the airport parking lot, exiting the vehicle, and leaving
36:55behind the bodies of his four victims.
36:58Finally, detectives found their killer.
37:02It was time to track Sean down and bring him in.
37:06On the same day the bodies were discovered, police urgently scrambled to track down Sean
37:11Lannan, but it was already too late.
37:14Sean had slipped out of Albuquerque and vanished.
37:17Immediately, the U.S. Marshals issued a nationwide alert believing Sean posed an active threat
37:22and was possibly on a violent crime spree.
37:24Authorities across multiple states joined the manhunt to track him down before anyone else
37:29was harmed.
37:33Then, on March 9th, Detective Turney received a disturbing call.
37:38U.S. Marshals informed him that Sean Lannan was now wanted in connection to another murder.
37:44This one committed just a day earlier in New Jersey.
37:47Authorities had linked Sean to the murder of Michael Zebkowski through witness statements
37:52and surveillance footage that placed him directly at the scene.
37:55A quick background check also revealed the victim wasn't a random target.
38:00Debkowski was someone Sean had personally known for many years.
38:04It was an alarming detail that made it clear Sean's violent spree was far from over.
38:09Now, with five bodies discovered and a serial killer on the loose, police knew anyone in
38:15Sean Lannan's circle could be next.
38:17And they had to act fast.
38:19Federal authorities urgently tracked Sean's movements, closely monitoring surveillance footage
38:24and cell phone data.
38:25And finally, on the morning of March 10th, U.S. Marshals pinpointed Sean's location in
38:31St. Louis, Missouri.
38:32And they quickly moved in and captured him without incident.
38:35Sean Lannan was immediately extradited back to New Jersey, finally putting an end to his
38:42killing spree.
38:44By now, the evidence against Sean Lannan was overwhelming.
38:48Investigators had more than enough to charge him.
38:50But there were still critical questions that only Sean could answer.
38:54They still needed to understand exactly why he committed these horrific murders and determine
38:58whether he acted alone or if others helped him carry out and conceal evidence.
39:03When Detective Turney sat down face to face with Sean, he expected more lies and deception.
39:09But surprisingly, Sean didn't resist or deny anything.
39:13Instead, he resigned to his fate, openly admitting he was tired of running and knew his capture
39:19was inevitable.
39:20In his own words, he simply wanted it to be over.
39:24So, with nothing left to hide, Sean would give detectives exactly what they hoped for.
39:30A chilling, detailed account of the murders and the twisted reasons behind each one.
39:37Jim was already out with time.
39:43Wasn't enough to take her life.
39:45So, she wanted to make sure she wanted to, for sure.
39:50I didn't realize she didn't breathe in.
39:53She wasn't going to OD.
39:54I went to the other room, psyched myself up, repeating that.
39:58I had an emotionally charged statement of, you killed the garrison baby.
40:03So, I had enough, and when I were to do it, I put that pistol behind her head, and I pulled
40:12the trigger, threw it all of them.
40:15A couple seconds later, I was sitting on the bed, too.
40:18I put that pistol on my mouth.
40:21I hand it low.
40:23I slipped out some teeth.
40:24I suddenly cried out.
40:26I was like, what the f*** am I doing now?
40:32Full of sugar, kids are going to see both of our hands, what I love.
40:35Everyone loves, uh, to the ground's out of the gun, and in the trouser.
40:41Closed the bedroom door, got the kids normal, set them up to be in the other room.
40:48We didn't have a vehicle.
40:49When John's boyfriend drove in the f***ing truck, on the car end, so I pretty much slid her
40:56in so we could be out.
40:59To a storage bank, a lot of them.
41:01It was pretty shitty.
41:02The sheets that were around here, the bedding was in the back, on the bus.
41:07The container here, I, um, tried to dismember her to clear containers at work.
41:13It was f***ing awful and traumatic.
41:16Just thinking about it, it was so hot, sorry.
41:18I knew I was living on borrowed time at that point, so I needed to get my kids somewhere
41:24safe for the cove.
41:26So I continued with the pack and everything up, all the while still mating, just the mother.
41:32She's responsible for the drugging and doing that to my kids.
41:35So by like a week, I came to the house.
41:39So I, in the laundry room, connect me to the garage.
41:45That's where I killed them.
41:46Just before I killed them, he offered up a trade.
41:51Someone had pictures of, he showed my home.
41:55I'm standing there naked, in my living room.
41:58I don't know what his name was, William or Matthew.
42:01Miller, whatever that f*** his name is.
42:03With his, with his f***ing, on my son's shoulders.
42:06I said, who sent you this picture?
42:09He's like, this guy doesn't know if it's real.
42:11He's like, I took the picture.
42:13I said, well, I mean, he took that picture.
42:15And he just advanced the guy in the picture.
42:17So, um, I said, there it is.
42:22You know, he was right over the vent, working down with Hyder.
42:24He wanted, he wanted to know if he could do a shot of the room for it to his leg.
42:30So I said, well, if you find any in the vent.
42:33So he looked, he was looking down in the vent.
42:35He didn't see it coming.
42:38There's a nice shot in the back of the head.
42:40It wasn't something I was proud of.
42:42He was a f***ing, pretty tall f***ing dude.
42:46I had this memory on at some point, a day or two later.
42:50It disgusted me.
42:52That's gross.
42:54I didn't work up the nerves to move his bodies.
42:56So there's so much blood.
42:58That's why I had to pull the floor up in that room.
43:01I saw a room that was, the flooring that was pulled up in the kid's bedroom.
43:05A f***ing piece of landlord nerve fixed the water leak.
43:09And the carpet got molded.
43:10I was not safe.
43:12The carpet was outside the house, and so was the padding, if they fluttered some of the rooms.
43:17It was still there, but it was there.
43:19It took two hours quite enough.
43:23Ability team, near Justin.
43:26When you got Justin over there, was this shortly after?
43:30Like, how long between the time that you had, that you, Jennifer, did you shoot Justin?
43:35It was at least a week.
43:37It took a while.
43:38Did you get him to the floor?
43:39I was paying this if I was Jennifer on the phone.
43:43Yeah.
43:44So you thought you used to meet Jennifer?
43:46Yeah.
43:46I also had pictures of Daniel Lemos and my son.
43:51I never got my hands on Daniel Lemos.
43:52I fully sent it until I was heading back to New Mexico for it.
43:58Like yesterday.
44:03Yeah, over ten years.
44:04If I did, it would be in the box.
44:10So then I had the three of them.
44:12Probably that kid comes over, William or Matthew, or whatever the name it is.
44:17Comes over with Felicity, his girlfriend.
44:20She looked like she was like 12 years old.
44:21And they should freak me out and they don't have to.
44:25So I, um, he's like, they're looking for money for anything.
44:29I'm like, I get your food card.
44:32I was like, let's take like 40 bucks.
44:37I was like, all I need is later in the week give me a ride to get some water.
44:40And I'm going to let her go in a water.
44:41So, one of those times he came back, he didn't have Felicity.
44:47And that's when, that's when I shot him in the back of the head.
44:51And I had one of his vehicles, Al Berge.
44:55At some point he brought me the boxes, I put them in the back.
44:59I couldn't have with him up.
45:00I couldn't tell it was enough money to get the vehicles.
45:02So, he was going to take the chart back.
45:04So, I found thrills for the, um, the boxes of these, the archipers.
45:11I was going to hold him for 150 bucks.
45:15Um, he won enough $300 once we got to his place.
45:19Randy wanted another $300 to hold the boxes.
45:24So, I didn't have $300.
45:27So, he's like, I'm going to drop you back off.
45:29So, we left the ass, came back to the, uh, back of the pro.
45:34The box was still in the back.
45:36Pulled in right there.
45:37We got in the fight.
45:38I killed him in the front seat.
45:39He was in the driver's seat.
45:40Throughout his confession, Sean remained eerily composed, showing almost no emotions.
45:47Even more chilling is the fact that just hours after dismembering the bodies and brutally killing
45:53Randall, Sean was picked up by police on an unrelated warrant and sat across from Detective
45:58Tourney, coldly denying any involvement, while a truck full of bodies was parked just a few
46:05blocks away.
46:05So, Tuesday, I took the, uh, yeah, I grabbed the truck.
46:12And, uh, I didn't know what to do with it.
46:13I don't know anybody.
46:15You know, what do you do with the body?
46:16So, I wasn't trying to, I knew at some point it's going to get caught.
46:20I just want my kids back home.
46:21I took them to the airport the day before.
46:25Okay.
46:25And I positioned them.
46:28Just, everything was the same.
46:30Secure the vehicle.
46:31That's not obvious.
46:33And then I took a, I believe it was an Uber.
46:35Took a help.
46:36Right to the pro.
46:38The next day we flew out.
46:39I'm waiting on time.
46:41Again.
46:41And then, at some point they'd find the bodies at the airport and the bus.
46:47And then, um, the last thing on my list was, uh, the man that was me as a child, my big brother.
46:55Big brother's big sister, something like that.
46:58And he gave me pictures, too.
47:00He wanted the pictures back.
47:01He didn't want to give me the pictures.
47:02So, I started beating.
47:05And he gave me the pictures.
47:06It took his life.
47:07The last victim in Sean's killing spree was his former mentor, Michael Debkowski.
47:21A man Sean accused of abusing him during childhood and believed still had photographs of that abuse.
47:28When Debkowski refused to hand over those photographs, Sean killed him without hesitation.
47:33But just as detectives thought they heard everything from Sean,
47:36he would make one final, shocking statement.
47:39There were even more bodies waiting to be found.
47:44And so the other 11, you said started about two and a half years ago, three years ago?
47:48Mm-hmm.
47:49And you used, you disarmed them from guns, and you said knives?
47:55Not knives.
47:56Yeah, whatever.
47:57So I'm going, I'm like, almost like a pickaxe, but it gives them off a pick.
48:01So I'm like a pickaxe, but...
48:03Well, it's like if you had to think back, like how many, how many out of the 11 were shot and how many were stabbed.
48:10Think if you can elaborate on any of that.
48:13Two were shot.
48:14Two.
48:15Okay.
48:16And then how many were stabbed?
48:18The rest of them were done.
48:19According to Sean, he'd killed at least 11 additional people, mostly drug dealers tied to Jennifer and hidden their bodies in remote areas of Malpays National Park.
48:35Detectives approached these claims cautiously, knowing Sean was a skilled manipulator who mixed truths with calculated lies.
48:42Perhaps this was his last attempt to influence the outcome of his trial later on.
48:47But despite extensive searches, no additional bodies were ever discovered, and Sean's claims remained unverified.
48:55Detectives also investigated one of the key persons of interest directly implicated by Sean himself, Danny Lemos.
49:02He was located in Albuquerque and arrested by U.S. Marshals on March 25, 2021.
49:08Danny agreed to speak with Detective Turney, firmly denying any involvement and expressing shock that Sean was even capable of these horrific crimes.
49:18He admitted taking the handgun Sean had hidden at Kelly's house, but claimed he had no idea it was tied to a murder and had quickly sold it afterwards.
49:26After exhaustive interviews and reviewing all available evidence, detectives eventually cleared Danny, along with all other potential suspects, ultimately concluding Sean acted entirely alone.
49:39In October 2022, Sean pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Michael Debkowski in New Jersey.
49:46He was sentenced to 35 years in prison, and in May 2024, he pleaded guilty to killing Jennifer Lannan, Justin Mata, Matthew Miller, and Randall Apastalone, receiving four consecutive 15-year sentences.
50:00As part of his plea agreement, Sean will serve his sentence in New Jersey first, then return to New Mexico to serve an additional 60 years behind bars.
50:11As part of his plea agreement, Sean will serve his sentence in New Jersey first, then return to New Jersey first, then return to New Jersey first, then return to New Jersey first, then return to New Jersey first.
