The Great Ak calls a council of the Immortals to ask that Santa Claus be given immortality. To justify it, he tells the story of Santa Claus. The Ak found an abandoned baby and gave it to a lioness and a fairy to raise, who named him Claus. When Claus grew up, the Great Ak showed him the evil and hardship in the world, so Claus decides to live there and relieve some of the suffering. He decides to make toys for orphans, but King Agua, the ruler of the valley where Claus lives, doesn't want the children to be happy, resulting in a great battle with the Immortals.

00:00For to girls and boys, we carry the toys that will fill their hearts with glee.
00:16In all this world, there is nothing so beautiful as a happy child.
00:24The forest of Berzy, an age ago.
00:30They are coming.
00:33The leaders of the immortals are coming.
00:40Great Ant, they are here.
00:46You sound imps. Always forget who you are talking to.
00:50It's me, Tingler. Speak my language, please.
00:54Sorry. So much to remember.
00:57The other day, I spoke an alligator to a wood nymph.
01:00It's them. They've arrived. The leaders of the immortals, Great Ant.
01:05Good. Hurry and bring them to the council table.
01:08Si. Pronto. Tut suite.

01:15Ah, good Queen Zerline. It will be a truly unusual night.
01:26Yes, Greydark. I wish you success.
01:29I must convince them.
01:31Or tonight will be Santa Claus' last sleigh ride.

02:35With their Royal Highnesses, the Princess Flash and Twilight.
02:42The Protector of the Nooks.
02:47The King of the Riles.
02:52I bid you welcome.
02:54We are called here to discuss the man known as Santa Claus.
03:07A mortal who has won the love of the entire world.
03:11Tonight, when he returns from his final ride, he will be visited by the spirit of death.
03:17Of all men who have inhabited the earth, no other so well deserves to live on.
03:26A mortal live on?
03:29Nonsense.
03:33We have come, so we will hear you out, Great Ack.
03:37Although your cause seems hopeless.
03:41But to come to the point of what is your desire?
03:44That Santa Claus be allowed to continue his yearly rides, his good work.
03:51But that would mean only one thing.
03:55Yes.
03:56To bestow upon Santa Claus the mantle of immortality.
04:01How shall I begin this story of the life and adventures of Santa Claus?
04:20At the beginning, Master Woodsman.
04:23Yes, the beginning.
04:24We live so happily here in the forest that we know nothing of the sorrow and misery that falls to the lot
04:32of those poor mortals who inhabit the open spaces of the earth.
04:38It was a short 60 years or so ago, an instant in immortal time, that I came upon the babe, abandoned
04:52in the snowy woods at the very edge of the forest.
04:55I left the child with the lioness, Sheegra.
05:01I ordered her to lie close to the babe and to give it her milk, and to send word throughout
05:07the forest that the child should not be harmed.
05:11Otherwise, he would have been Sheegra's evening meal.
05:16Great Ack, what is a child?
05:18You will always, as you are now in a seal, as immortals will always be, and you know nothing
05:25of children because there are none among us.
05:28And there will never be.
05:30It is so decreed by our laws.
05:34Born in our present state, never were babies.
05:39Children, it would be nice to see one, to hold one, just once.
06:03For I sempre, today and forever, for ages and ages to come, to the first cracking of doom.
06:18To the first cracking of doom, to the last trumpet sounds, to the first cracking of doom.
06:29A child of man, a baby.
06:36The lioness, Sheegra, guards the babe.
06:39I must wait and be silent.
06:46Surely, I can look after my young trees, and the babe as well.
06:51I feel a strange presence, something that has never been in the forests of Berzee before.
06:59Great Ack, it is the lioness, Sheegra.
07:09She is beyond my control.
07:11I thought no animal was beyond your control, Peter Nook.
07:27Are you not the master of all animals in the world?
07:31It has never happened before.
07:33Oh, Great Ack, find room in your heart to forgive me.
07:41I have broken the law of the forest, but please, let me keep the man-child.
07:47Let me know the joy and warmth of having this baby.
07:55Sheegra, here!
07:56It's all right, Sheegra.
08:02Yes, I know what I told you.
08:05You are right to be angry.
08:07Please, let the babe remain.
08:10Here?
08:11In the forest of Berzee?
08:14Where the human race has never yet penetrated?
08:18But the law, child, the law.
08:23The law's the law, or it wouldn't mean anything, right?
08:29The law is made by the Great Ack.
08:32If he bids me care for the babe he himself has saved from certain death,
08:36who else in the forest would oppose me?
08:39I'd say you were fairly trapped, Great Ack.
08:49Agreed.
08:50She shall keep the babe, and the lioness Sheegra will stay to protect them.
08:57What shall we name the babe, Nisiel?
09:00I will call him Claus.
09:02For in the language of our forest, it means little one, little Claus.
09:07Gets a bit chilly in this forest at times.
09:13Luck to you, child.
09:16Claus it is, then.
09:18Babe in the woods
09:21Thinks the world's all fun and laughter
09:27Doesn't know what's coming after, after all
09:31He's just a babe in the woods
09:35Till his careless days are over
09:42He'll be wrapped in four-leaf clover over all
09:46He hasn't yet burned his fingers
09:53He's still wet behind the years
09:56The acorn of the shady oak
09:59He thinks it's all a great big joke
10:02Claus, Tingler is here for your language lesson
10:07Hi, Tingler
10:08What's it gonna be today?
10:10Squirrel?
10:11Bee songs?
10:12Woodflower poetry?
10:13Or elephant?
10:14All wrong
10:14Torto
10:15Incorrecto
10:16False
10:16All wrong
10:18Finch
10:21Oh oui, Monsieur Tingler
10:23Not French
10:24Finch
10:25Okay, let's practice by the stream
10:31Are all children like Claus, Queen Zirline?
10:38No
10:38He is a very special child, Nassil
10:42And I'm sure he will grow up to be a very special mortal man
10:46Hold tightly to my belt
10:48For we are going to journey through the air
10:51And circle the world
10:53Hold fast, Claus
11:04When we land
11:05We shall become invisible to all whom we meet
11:09One measly cart
11:21The lord of the manor shall hear of this
11:23But Squire Rushwell
11:25It's been raining for a fortnight
11:27And this is the first day we could harvest
11:30You'll work in the dark tonight by torchlight
11:33And without your supper
11:35Till the quote is made
11:37Put it back
11:42One more trick like that
11:45And you'll find yourself back at the orphanage, you will
11:48Wait, it's only a turnip
11:51A single, miserable turnip
11:54Here, take it
11:56It's no use, Claus
11:57They cannot see us
11:59So these are mortals
12:02Do they all act this way towards one another?
12:05It seems so cruel compared to our world
12:08Man's inhumanity to man, Claus
12:11And I'll be back when you least expect it
12:15So be warned
12:18Do all mortals live like this?
12:22Come, you shall see
12:24This business of being a mortal
12:28I don't think it's for me
12:30But you are a mortal, Claus
12:32And you will remain one
12:34Until you are just a memory
12:36To immortals like Nassil
12:39I don't understand
12:41Come, you will understand in time
12:45Are they playing a game?
13:01No
13:02They are training to be samurai
13:04Warriors who will fight
13:06And if necessary, die for their lord
13:09That man is their teacher
13:12Stop, don't hit him
13:22There is nothing you can do, Claus
13:24He's just a little boy
13:30He is learning to be an adult
13:33To survive in the difficult world of mortals
13:36But at his age, he should be like I was
13:39Laughing and playing
13:40Ah, Claus
13:42If it were only that simple
13:44Everything is so different from our forest
13:47Show me more, Great Ack
13:49I want to learn
13:50Come, then
13:51Where to now?
13:56To a place of trade
13:58Why are those children holding out their hands?
14:11They are homeless, Claus
14:12They have no one to care for them
14:15No Nassil
14:16No Chiegra
14:18And they have no money to buy food
14:21They depend on the generosity of others
14:25I would like to help them, Great Ack
14:28There must be something I can do
14:30And men go to war, Claus
14:43They fight amongst themselves for what are known as causes
14:47Good causes?
14:49Sometimes
14:50More often, they are not
14:52War
14:53Men kill each other when they disagree
14:57What is man's use?
15:07Why is he here?
15:08Why is he born at all?
15:10To leave the world in some way
15:12Better than he found it
15:14Great Ack
15:15How can I do that?
15:17You must follow your star
15:19As others have before you
15:21And try to bring a measure of love and joy to the world
15:25Great Ack showed me all the places in man's world
15:35My world
15:36It's a hard and cruel place
15:38But it's where I have to live
15:40Well spoken, young Claus
15:42I will never forget what you've given me, Nassil
15:45Mother
15:46I'll never forget you
15:48You will come back to visit
15:51If you let me
15:53I'd like that
15:54Call upon me whenever you have need, Claus
15:58We too
15:59Anytime
16:00If you're feeling blue, we'll color you pink
16:03And we shall be here as well
16:09To assist you
16:10Goodbye, son
16:14Goodbye, friends
16:17Goodbye
16:18Good luck, Carlos
16:20Guard his footsteps well, Chiegra
16:23Tingler
16:24You're both coming with me?

16:29I feel like something or someone is guiding my steps
16:43That I know exactly where I'm going
16:45Well, we're just on the edge of the valley now
16:48Just a little further by my calculations
16:51Does this valley have a name?
16:53Yes
16:53Shh
16:54We are almost upon it

18:45You've got to learn to live together with Blinky Shigra.
18:48Nassil sent Blinky to us, and we all have to learn to live together.
18:52Now, don't we?
18:54What was that?
18:57Sounded close.
18:58Let's have a look.
19:07He's frozen with cold.
19:13Let's get him warm, quickly.
19:20He's coming around.
19:22Hello. Where am I?
19:24Don't be afraid, little one. You're with friends.
19:27I'm Claus, and this is Tingler, Shigra, and Blinky.
19:32I'm Weakum, and I guess I got lost, and I saw your house, and I stepped into this big drift of snow, and it was very cold, and...
19:40Well, you're all right now, Weakum. Tell us where you live.
19:44In a place for kids who don't have mothers and fathers, or anyone else to take care of them.
19:48Well, little Weakum, let's be pals, you and me.
19:53Okay, Mr. Claus. Friends.
19:56Friends?
19:58What's that you're carving?
19:59Well, just a little cat, like Blinky here.
20:05Blinky's a nice cat. I wish I had a cat like her.
20:09Now, there's an idea.
20:11You get some sleep, and maybe tomorrow morning, I'll have a surprise for you.
20:17A surprise? That would be nice.
20:22Good night, everybody.
20:25What do you have in mind, Claus?
20:27A cat like Blinky.
20:29A copy.
20:30A little wooden one.
20:42Not bad for your first spiel, Zoey.
20:44Juguete.
20:45Jue.
20:46Meow.
20:47Toy.
20:49That's the word.
20:51Toy.
20:52A toy.
20:53I like the sound of the word.
20:56Yes, it's a good word, Tingler.
21:01And I slept at his house, and when I woke up, there was this big surprise, what he calls a toy.
21:07Mr. Claus, can you meet another?
21:09We'll be good at all.
21:10We want to wake up to a big surprise.
21:14Big surprise.
21:16A wooden cat with yellow-green eyes.
21:19Yellow-green eyes.
21:21Ooh.
21:21A little black cat with a big blue bow.
21:24A funny little cat sitting in the snow.
21:27A silly little cat with a great big smile.
21:29Could we have one for just a little while?
21:32Just a little while.
21:33A big surprise.
21:39We want to wake up to a big surprise.
21:42Big surprise.
21:44A wooden cat with yellow-green eyes.
21:48Yellow-green eyes.
21:50A little black cat with no meow.
21:53A funny little cat, please tell us how.
21:55A silly little cat with a tongue that's red.
21:58A pretty little toy we could take to bed.
22:01A big surprise.
22:08We love you, pretty kitty.
22:13We'd like you to stay.
22:18We'll take turns sharing kitty.
22:23We'll each have you for a day.
22:28We'd want to wake up to a big surprise.
22:32Big surprise.
22:33Big surprise.
22:34A wooden cat with yellow-green eyes.
22:37Yellow-green eyes.
22:39A little black cat with a big blue bow.
22:42A funny little cat sitting in the snow.
22:45A silly little cat with a great big smile.
22:47Could we have one for just a little while?
22:50Just a little while.
22:52Big surprise.
22:53Big surprise.
22:54Big surprise.
22:55Big surprise.
23:07As how Claus had made his first toy, there were more to come.
23:13By the end of the week, he had made dozens.
23:15Could you beg immortality for a toy maker?
23:22Surely there is more to tell.
23:25Much more indeed.
23:26The demand for his toys kept Claus busy.
23:29But he was quite happy in knowing the pleasure it gave to so many children.
23:34The Riles, Nooks, and Wood Nymphs helped and supported him in his new endeavor.
23:38Now, what do you call that one?
23:42Well, I thought you were the one with the names for things.
23:45Okay, okay.
23:46Right you are.
23:47I name it a, a, a Bambula.
23:49A Bucchin.
23:50A Puppet.
23:52How about a doll?
23:55Sounds perfect to me.
23:57This toy making is going to be a full-time business.
24:03What was that?
24:04Mr. Claus, if you make another toy, we're coming for you.
24:15Signed, King Ogwa.
24:19Who is King Ogwa?
24:23Malabajo.
24:24Mauvais.
24:25Dangerous.
24:26Schleck.
24:27Malo.
24:27Bad.
24:28Bad news.
24:30Meow.
24:31Meow.
24:31A little more information, if you please, in Burzee talk.
24:36Well, it's said that the Aguas influence children, make them do terrible bad things, like stealing, fighting, and quarreling, disobeying their parents, that kind of stuff.
24:47And where do we find these terrible Aguas?
24:50Their homes are in the Rocky Mountains, not far from here.
24:54Hmm.
24:55That's not good.
24:57What are you going to do?
24:59Nothing.
24:59It's toy making as usual.
25:03Oh, uh, one other thing I forgot to mention.
25:06Yes?
25:06It's said that they can make themselves invisible.
25:10Good night.
25:14Invisible.
25:16Well, that does make it a bit more difficult.
25:20Eh, she, Agra?
25:22Yes, I agree.
25:25We'll have to be on our guard.
25:27So, he's going to continue his blasted toy making.
25:37Well, we'll see about that.

31:39and incinerate them
31:43there

31:50you
32:00you
32:01you
32:02you
32:03you
32:05you
32:07you
32:11Oh, my God.
32:41Your evil friends have been defeated.
33:05It is the law that good shall overcome evil.
33:11Forward, immortals! Charge!
33:14I hear you have many toys ready for the children.
33:28You may carry them safely across the valley without fear.
33:32The Aguas have perished.
33:36It's no use.
33:50We'll never get it to move.
33:52Reindeer!
34:03Yes, Claus.
34:05The reindeer will be able to pull your sleigh with ease.
34:10But they've never been out of the forest before.
34:14So you'll have to guide them with ease.
34:17How can I ever thank you, Peter Nook?
34:20By having these deer back in the forest before daybreak, hmm?
34:25Daybreak it will be.
34:26Are you sure you can handle all this, Claus?
34:33We'll soon find out.
34:35All ready?
34:36Away we go!
34:38Like we've crossed the entire valley in just a few leaps.
34:58It's almost like...
34:59Flying!
35:03Now I know why they call it Laughing Valley!
35:08Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
35:11With a ho, ho, ho, and a ha, ha, ha, and a ho, ho, ha, ha, ha, yee.
35:17Now away we go, all the frozen snow, as merry as we, as we can be.
35:24Our first stop. In you go.
35:43I'm afraid, friends, that we've made our journey for nothing
35:46and we'll have to take all of the toys back.
35:49What's the matter?
35:50The doors are locked and I can't get in.
35:54We've never tried this at night before.
35:56Well, you have to get in somehow.
36:03Please.
36:04Oh, sorry, the roof. Why don't you go down the chimney?
36:08Good thinking.
36:08Why, the children have hung their stockings by the chimney to dry.
36:24A good place for a little morning surprise.
36:29Why not?
36:30Well, that worked rather well.
36:52If we find any more locked doors, we'll know what to do.
36:56Look, more toys.
37:06Where do they come from?
37:07The good Claus must have been here,
37:10for his are the only toys in the world.
37:12But how did he get in?
37:14A saint like Claus has no need to unlock doors
37:18if it pleases him to enter our home.
37:21Saint Claus?
37:22Santa Claus!
37:37You were late, Claus.
37:39I'm sorry, Peter Nook,
37:41but it was only one minute after daybreak.
37:43A minute is a minute, you know.
37:45I would like to use the deer again,
37:48and I think they enjoyed the trip.
37:51Well, I don't know about that.
37:54One time, yes, but...
37:57It's for the children.
37:59Won't you reconsider?
38:01For the children.
38:06For the children.
38:07Well, since you put it that way,
38:12okay, for the children.
38:17But only once a year, on Christmas Eve.
38:21Christmas Eve?
38:22But that's only ten days from now.
38:25You won't have time to make enough toys.
38:27You'll lose an entire year.
38:29Maybe not.
38:30But how?
38:31If I had the toys the Aguas stole,
38:35I could easily fill the sleigh, and more.
38:38But how can we find them?
38:47It's no use.
38:48We've only one more hour until Christmas Eve.
38:52We'll just have to postpone the trip until next year.
38:57One year?
38:58Just think of all the toys we'll have by next year.
39:01But just think of all the disappointed girls and boys this year.
39:07See you all in the morning.
39:10Good night.
39:12Don't give up hope.
39:13Not so happy tonight.
39:31Unless...
39:31Claus, get up.
39:38The toys.
39:39They found them.
39:44Get a move on, Claus.
39:46Or you'll never be back by daybreak.
