00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the actors who got booted
00:09from the very shows they starred in.
00:19Number 10. Jeff Garlin – The Goldbergs
00:22This comedian played Murray Goldberg, the patriarch of the Goldberg family on this 80s
00:27nostalgia-filled sitcom. Based on creator Adam F. Goldberg's real-life father, Murray was a
00:35lovable curmudgeon who balanced out his eccentric wife Beverly. In 2019, reports emerged of on-set
00:41misconduct from Garlin, which prompted an HR investigation that went on for three years.
00:46In 2021, Garlin left the series during the ongoing investigation, which co-star Wendy
00:51McLennan-Covey called A Long Time Coming.
00:58After his departure, stand-ins and CGI were used to make up for Garlin's absence, until
01:03his character was ultimately killed off in the show's tenth and final season.
01:06This isn't good, I'm getting shaky-hungry. If I don't eat soon, I'm gonna have to lie down.
01:11Number 9. Jeremy Clarkson – Top Gear
01:14This television presenter rose to prominence for his work on the revival of Top Gear. His tongue-in-cheek
01:20humor made him a popular figure on the series, and granted him a large following. But no
01:25amount of star power could justify the 2015 incident that got him fired.
01:29Write it down on a note, attach it to a brick, and throw it through our window.
01:33While filming on location in North Yorkshire, Clarkson requested a steak at his hotel.
01:39Since the chef had already gone home, Clarkson was offered an alternative meal instead.
01:43Instead, Clarkson punched producer Oysen Tymon in the face. This extreme overreaction led to
01:50Clarkson being suspended, and ultimately fired from Top Gear.
01:52This is like an old escort. The noise and the vibration and the harshness, it is exhausting.
01:59Though fans were upset to lose such a popular figure on the show, there was no chance the BBC
02:04could like that kind of behavior slide.
02:15Number 8. Valerie Harper – The Hogan Family
02:19Originally titled Valerie, this 1980s sitcom followed the challenges and triumphs of working
02:24mother Valerie Hogan and her energetic family.
02:35The series was a hit with critics, and the star power of Valerie Harper helped push the
02:39series higher in ratings in its early seasons. Following the show's second season, Harper
02:44attempted to renegotiate her salary and syndication revenue, but producers denied her requests
02:49and fired her. Her character was killed off, and replaced with Sandy Duncan as sister-in-law Sandy
02:54Hogan. The series was ultimately retitled The Hogan Family, erasing Valerie's name and
03:07her contributions that made the show a hit.
03:21Number 7. Jay Johnston – Bob's Burgers
03:24On this long-running animated sitcom, restaurateur Bob Belcher is frequently tormented by his
03:29neighbor and rival, Italian restaurant owner Jimmy Pesto.
03:33You know, you're being weird. If I wanted weird, I'd listen to Trev talk about some crazy
03:37doghouse he's getting.
03:39For 10 years, Pesto was voiced by comedian Jay Johnston. In 2021, video evidence emerged that
03:45showed Johnston participating in the January 6th Capitol riots, shocking fans of the popular
03:50series.
03:51Stop saying things I don't get. I'm leaving. Have fun with your stupid words.
03:55Due to his role in the riots, Johnston was sentenced to a year in prison, and fired from
04:00Bob's Burgers. Jimmy Pesto was noticeably absent from the series for multiple seasons,
04:04until he reappeared in season 14, now voiced by Eric Bauza. Johnston is an alum of Second
04:09City. Trade magazine's report he was fired from his job on the animated series Bob's
04:14Burgers in 2021 for his role in the insurrection.
04:17Number 6. Lisa Bonet – A Different World
04:21This spin-off of The Cosby Show was initially centered around Denise Huxtable, following
04:34her experience as a student at a historically black college. Denise was played by Lisa Bonet,
04:39who announced after the show's first season that she was expecting a child.
04:43This was a problem for Bill Cosby, who didn't want to present Bonet's character as an unwed
04:57mother. To preserve the family values of the show, Bonet was fired from A Different World,
05:02and the show was retooled with a new cast of characters for the remaining five seasons.
05:07While Bonet was on hiatus from The Cosby Show, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Zoe
05:12Kravitz.
05:13One of the first things I did was meet with Lisa Bonet. And I adored her from The Cosby Show.
05:21I adored her. And she secreted to me that she was actually pregnant.
05:29Number 5. Mitchell Musso – Pair of Kings and Prank Stars
05:33I know! Knock, knock! Who's there? Fate! Fate who?
05:36After getting prominence for his supporting roles as Oliver Okun on Hannah Montana, things were
05:41looking good for Mitchell Musso. He starred as literal teen royalty on Disney XD's Pair of Kings,
05:46and hosted his own reality prank show on Disney Channel.
05:49Hey, I'm Mitchell Musso, and I'm in front of my mobile command center. But you can't get real fro-yoke here,
05:54because all we're serving up is pranks.
05:56Then, in 2011, Musso was arrested and charged with a DUI when he was just 20 years old. As a result,
06:03his character was written out of Pair of Kings, and Prank Stars was cancelled after just one season.
06:08Musso publicly expressed regret for his actions, and Disney allowed him to keep his voice acting role as Jeremy on Phineas and Ferb.
06:14Slow your roll, bro. I've seen a lot of police movies. We're going good cop, bad cop on this one.
06:21Number 4. Danny Masterson – The Ranch
06:25Best known for playing Stephen Hyde in That 70s Show, in 2016, Masterson reunited with his former co-star Ashton Kutcher
06:32for the Netflix series The Ranch.
06:34You're like a beaver, right? Just swimming around, gathering the wood and the crap that the rooster and the eagle need to build the dam to keep the water out.
06:43With the momentum of the hashtag MeToo movement behind them in 2017, three women came forward with assault allegations against Masterson.
06:50The victims claimed they had been pressured into silence for years by the Church of Scientology, of which Masterson is a member.
06:57When a fourth victim came forward months later, Masterson was fired from the ranch.
07:07His character, Rooster, was killed off part way through the show's third season, and Masterson was ultimately sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
07:15I promise it'll never happen again.
07:19That's exactly what Michael used to say.
07:22Come on, Jackie.
07:23No, you know what, Stephen? I'm sorry. It's over.
07:26Number 3. Kevin Spacey – House of Cards
07:30The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
07:36This actor had already experienced a long and successful career in Hollywood before he came to star in the Netflix series House of Cards as Frank Underwood.
07:45It was during his time on the critically acclaimed series when allegations of sexual misconduct began to emerge against Spacey.
07:51For those of us climbing to the top of the food chain, there can be no mercy. There is but one rule. Hunt or be hunted.
08:01Anthony Rapp was the first to come forward, bravely sharing his encounter with Spacey that haunted him for decades.
08:07As other victims shared similar stories, Netflix suspended filming of House of Cards and cut ties with Spacey.
08:13He was removed from his role in the cast and as an executive producer, and all upcoming projects featuring the actor were canceled.
08:20Yet another actor coming forward, this time pointing the finger at Kevin Spacey about an encounter he says happened more than three decades ago.
08:27Number 2. Roseanne Barr – Roseanne
08:31One of the most popular sitcoms of the 1990s was Roseanne, following the life of Roseanne Connor and her working class family.
08:38Stop always trying to control me!
08:40I do not try to control you, master!
08:43The show's enduring popularity well into the 21st century led to a revival of the series being greenlit in 2017.
08:49Roseanne Barr was once again back in the TV spotlight, though her Twitter feed made ABC executives nervous.
08:55Barr frequently posted controversial political statements and conspiracy theories, but it was a shockingly racist tweet about Barack Obama's former senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, that broke the camel's back.
09:07Roseanne OD'd on opioids.
09:10It's not possible.
09:12Barr was fired from Roseanne, and the revival was eventually canceled.
09:16Roseanne became The Conners, a new series that would focus on Darlene Connor, featuring the entire original cast, minus Barr.
09:23Are we horrible for laughing?

09:42Number one, Charlie Sheen, Two and a Half Men.
09:47Once the highest paid actor on television, Charlie Sheen has had a long and public struggle with substance use disorder.
09:53During his time on Two and a Half Men, Sheen's multiple stints in rehab disrupted filming and affected hundreds of employees.
10:00Yes, sadly, he passed away four years ago.
10:03Yes, I am sorry, too.
10:05He's irreplaceable.
10:07Combined with his disparaging comments against series creator Chuck Lorre, this led to Sheen being fired and replaced with Ashton Kutcher in the show's ninth season.
10:15Winning.
10:32Still, Sheen's career continued.
10:34He went on to star in Anger Management alongside Selma Blair.
10:37When Blair continually complained about Sheen's behavior on set, he threatened to quit until she was fired.
10:43Sometimes you gotta tell a person how you feel before they feel safe to say what they feel.
10:48Well, I think that's a good lesson for all of us to remember.
10:51Which of these stars deserved a second chance?
10:53And which ones had it coming?
10:54Let us know in the comments.
10:56Well, I'm tired of crying.
10:59And laughing inappropriately is what Mom taught us to do.
