00:00Hello, may I speak to Mr. Brent, please?
00:09Well, wake him up, will you?
00:11Hello, George, this is Betty.
00:14Betty Davis, remember? We just finished a picture together.
00:17Listen, I've been asked to make a speech over the radio tonight.
00:20I don't know what to say. Come on, don't help me, will you?
00:23All right, thanks.
00:30Hi.
00:31What kept you so long?
00:32Oh, I had a knot on my shoestring.
00:35What's all this about a radio broadcast?
00:37Well, the studio publicity department wants me to talk about our latest picture, Front Page Woman.
00:41They do, huh? Front Page Woman.
00:43Well, say, that ought to be easy. Here, I'll show you.
00:47Let me take this off.
00:50Put this over here. Now, this will be the microphone, you see?
00:53What are you going to say?
00:54Well, I'd say, ladies and gentlemen.
00:56Well, that's not necessary. We all know that, ladies and gentlemen.
00:58Oh, will you? Oh, well, in that case, I'd say, I've been asked to say a few words about Front Page Woman.
01:04Oh, but that's not necessary, either.
01:06We all know I've been asked to say a few words about Front Page Woman.
01:09Otherwise, I wouldn't be at the radio station at all.
01:11That's right. Yeah. Well, I guess that's out, too.
01:14I know what I'll say. Front Page Woman is a story about a happy-go-lucky newspaper girl
01:19who's in love with a reporter on a rival paper.
01:21But instead of being friendly, they're always trying to double-cross each other.
01:25Oh, no. That's not necessary, either.
01:27Everybody knows that Front Page Woman is a story about a newspaper girl.
01:30Besides, if you tell them too much, that isn't any good, either.
01:32It doesn't need this very much to say, does it?
01:34No, it doesn't.
01:35Why don't you just say hello?
01:37Hello? About 15 minutes?
01:38Sure.
01:39Oh, thanks. I'm so glad you came over.
01:40Oh, that's all right.
01:41I know what will do.
01:42You come down to the radio station with me and we'll do some scenes from the picture.
01:45That's an idea. And we'll start with the apartment house fire. How's that?
01:47Hello, Harlan. Make way for Mother's little lamb.
01:53How are you, Mr. Devlin?
01:54Fine. And who's this poor young lady you've got with you?
01:57She says she's a reporter.
01:58She does? Well, she isn't a reporter and what's more, she never will be.
02:02I'm every bit as good a reporter as he is.
02:05Oh, yeah? Well, let's see you get through these lines.
02:08Did you see Mr. Stone after he was dead?
02:10Well, yeah, but not to speak to.
02:11Was there much blood?
02:12How high was the blood, Toots?
02:14Oh, up to my knees, but then I'm a tall man.
02:17Put that gun down. You don't know what you're doing.
02:19I know just what I'm doing.
02:20All right, you won't get away with it.
02:24Ellie, get out of here. He's got a gun.
02:26What? Put that gun down. You know what you're doing.
02:28Listen to me, will you, please?
02:33So, you've covered me.
02:35That fathead, Kylie. Hey, where are you going?
02:37So you double-crossed me.
02:38What do you mean double-crossed you? I tried to cover you.
02:40Wait a minute. This isn't going to do me any good either, you know.
02:44Oh, I... I just dropped in for a minute. I... I can't stay really.
02:49Oh, yes, you can. Get in there.
02:55Oh, please don't point that.
02:57Robert, who is she?
02:58She's a fly cop, sis.
02:59Oh, you got me all wrong. I'm not a cop. I'm a reporter.
03:02You've got to believe me.
03:03Now, you sit tight and keep your mouth shut
03:05or you'll go back to headquarters on a slab.
03:14Well, boy, it's alright.
