09:09So, to give you guys some more insight into Kalia, we have a special guest.
09:17Vice President and Head Designer for Kalia, Alicia Scott.
09:22So good to meet all of you we created Kalia about 10 years ago and really wanted to form a brand
09:33that is the perfect juxtaposition of fashion and femininity and function and I love how you guys
09:40have all styled all your pieces you got today our entire collection is rooted in performance if
09:45you're designing a look for Pilates or run it needs to be able to function we believe there's
09:50beauty in the burn how's it going to work whenever she is doing a downward dog make sure that when
09:56you're designing a piece it can be used for working out going to grab coffee going out to grab cocktails
10:02with your friends it needs to be versatile so not only has Kalia provided look books
10:08they've also provided all the fabrications for the challenge that's not all Kalia is going to produce
10:17and sell the winning look from the winning collection that would be so cool to have a
10:24Joseph McCray and Kalia produce that I feel like it would eat down I love the idea of this like beauty
10:29and the burn so what if we have like fire on the runway like actual fire so you'll have all of today
10:40and part of tomorrow to create your fire worthy collections don't you love a one day challenge

12:16go with it we decided to call our team the house of lotus because we wanted to feel the zen within the
12:22burn and so coming off the last challenge being in the bottom our stickler was our cohesion so as
12:30we're going through these fabrics that kalia provided us we're really paying attention to what
12:35color palette we want to do so that we really nail that cohesion this time because if we miss it two
12:41times in a row are we gonna be done for i love this fabric that was trying to get the colors out of
12:46this this has all your colors once again antonio is choosing the fabric and i'm getting a little
12:55anxious because last time he chose fabric we were in the bottom can y'all roll the tape back so the
13:02fabric that i brought from home is in pink so let's have the inspiration of our collection be butterflies
13:08that's the best one out of all of them i think we should go with that i don't like that no
13:13you like this better i mean i like this i don't like that either but i mean i wanted to start with
13:19miss joan i want to know it is what it is oh is the drama already beginning you know working with
13:25the twins you know they're a whole vibe but our looks have to be cohesive i love miss joan but she's

14:05top it all sprouted from trying to use the aspects of a kimono i grew up in greensboro north carolina but
14:14my nana was a tailor from nagasaki japan so i find a lot of inspiration in what the japanese call
14:22intangible cultural treasures but my mama would say that i don't bring enough of the south with me

14:44of street wear and elegance i want to win project runway for my daughter ava it's right here having

15:04madeline what informs your work i'm trying to always like see things that i like about vintage
15:13fashion but then giving it like my own little twist what about yourself i grew up in like a hoedunk
15:19farm town i just felt inherently so different from the rest of my family the only thing i could really
15:24do was you know rely on my own creativity and imagination to kind of distract me from
15:31you know feeling like it belonged there did they accept you as you are like you know when i finally
15:37did come out they were like we don't get it yet but we just don't want to lose you so we're gonna try
15:44to figure this out i feel really blessed to be able to have my family in my life so it makes me want
15:52to really push myself to win this for them hello hey how's the team going
16:05i do think the silhouette of this skirt you still have to figure out oh lord this might send me home
16:11i am a technical designer and i am a serious workaholic my family is jamaican and i've always
16:20been raised with all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're
16:25gonna figure out how to do it that day and do it so i have to push myself because this workout to
16:31weekend challenge is taking me out of my comfort zone i really wanted to do something that was
16:37extremely comfortable i think it feels a little too demure i think i made the right decision
16:44i was the one who fought to use this print because mrs joan didn't like it she still doesn't like it
16:48okay so you did it again you wanted a print again everybody wants this print
16:57groundbreaking this circle skirt yeah i can cut a circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes
17:04really we're kind of not the exact same look from the last challenge but you're making a jacket
17:12and a jacket and a skirt a jacket and a skirt let me tell you a little something about christian
17:18seriano christian are coming to work room like are you sure about that or he'd be walking around like
17:26oh okay that little face be killing me with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped it to the
17:32side the top being fabulous is very important here we should develop this more because you already
17:38know you can make a cool jacket i'm gonna listen to christian because i know i'm taking a risk but i
17:43do not want to be in the bottom again you got a lot to do i got you okay let's get it
17:47get your zoom i'm kind of going for like that modern with a little bit of tron this sash doesn't
17:54do anything she couldn't do any athletic things with this hanging what are all these lines on this
18:04so i kind of want to achieve this kind of like texture all of these lines you're gonna weave the
18:11inspirations for this design is the calia logo it's like a twisted string it's like very dynamic
18:19what are you doing it's going to be like a more like athletic fancy corset bustier kind of thing
18:29this makes no sense for an athletic look that scares me athleisure specifically is not something
18:36that i normally do unfortunately time is not on our side in this competition christian has his doubts
18:45about this corset but we're sticking to our guns hmm what are you doing i am doing an oversized hoodie
18:53which i'm thinking about cropping i did the pin tuck in my hand it's gonna have the same pin tuck
18:59and all over the pants as well so you're also doing a sweat oversized sweat oversized sweat pant
19:07in the same fabric is the pant wide like that wide you haven't even looked at each other's stuff and
19:13she's like right she's right in front of you honestly i really don't know much about what my team
19:18is doing this is it yes looks very similar i haven't looked at the other designers on my team i've just
19:25been too focused so we just have a wide pant off on the runway in the same fabric what the like what
19:33am i gonna do next i need to think fast and pivot into some other different silhouette if i don't
19:39succeed i'm worried it might put me on the bottom so i'm looking at team lotus and it does not fit
19:51the brief that we got what's going on so it's gonna be the papa so we both have mesh their looks
19:56are looking a little all over the place i think that we're gonna take this one home i look at the
20:01other team it's like crickets in that side of the room no one's really talking to each other and here
20:06we are like you know blah blah and then at night she just puts a glove on honey okay this do this like
20:13we're helping each other yes yes ethan i hate to tell you but you will be the losing team

20:30this very cool jacket with a pleated skirt that's the top i think so so how does one do anything
20:39athletic in that top i think i'm over here eating it up and it's just like yeah no are we playing
20:50tennis where you tie your arms up if i don't come through with this bra like i feel like the whole
20:55look is gonna go kapuz so different when i design on paper and design you you trend's pleated skirt it's
21:04really short i thought it was a mistake but it's not a mistake because mama i'm a slot you decided

21:45side seams and all of the volume is put into pleats across the back since we're paying homage to my
21:53japanese ancestress it's really important for me to nail this look that i make and i am feeling the

24:18weekend you worked in teams and you had only one day to create your collection all right let's meet

24:32garcia and our guest judge and co-owner of the fashion line favorite daughter sarah foster
24:42i'm so excited to see miss sarah foster she has a really good head on her shoulders around how to
24:47make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes she's gorgeous okay we're ready let's
24:51start the show it's going to be flaming hot i wish i had a marshmallow this got flammable hair now wait
24:59a minute i told you it was going to be hot and i was not talking about hans and france
25:13look at us now i do feel like i have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with
25:20creating something that goes from workout to weekend with the pin tuck in the silhouette the styling is
25:26really good i'm feeling really confident oh she's a professional you know you know look at us now i'm
25:34very proud of this look my look looks very modern sexy and fun and the red line on the jacket is
25:41everything that is a short skirt but she's got some good legs look at us now
25:51i'm just looking at the outfit it's not as bad as i expected it to be but i know what's going on on the
25:59inside it's messy messy i'm not happy about it it could have been worse it could have also been
26:08better i like that i would wear that you're very generous oh no
26:17with my athleisure look i'm feeling pretty satisfied i like it i think it's cute it's nothing
26:22like really shocking but i am just elated that the athleisure challenge is in the past she's got it
26:35she looks amazing i've worked hard to achieve that details that those string woven by hand i cut all
26:42those holes individually it takes a lot of work to create that textile i want to make sure that every
26:48piece that i make is a labor of love i don't get that curly hair with that
26:56with that side fin it's flowing down the runway it's got movement oh it looks so good
27:04i would wear that now i may have slayed a little bit too hard this week so
27:08i'm hoping that it can pull this team through to the wind
27:11this look it's very universal this girl can do pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket
27:23on and go have a cocktail with a girl just at night i'm proud of myself it would mean a lot to win this
27:28challenge and have that collab with leah coming from the crowd i'ma shut it down
27:32do it like this i'm happy with how this look turned out i feel like it's me and i'm starting
27:41to be more confident in what i'm designing and believe whatever i'm creating is good
27:50i see my look coming down the runway and i'm thinking okay yes even though i didn't choose this
27:56fabric i was able to be a team player and i think that she looks fabulous i love the drama
28:18my model is looking so everything and then she unzips this jacket and it's just like oh welcome
28:25to the party bring out the tata i took a risk with almost recreating my previous look and i hope this
28:34paid off that's my girl wow like i'm just literally getting chills the way she's walking the way that
28:45the pants are moving how powerful she looks i'm feeling great i could definitely see this in stores
28:52and see a lot of people wanting these pants wanting this bomber even the bag i love this our team
28:59everything was executed beautifully and i think that that showed on the runway i am not worried about
29:06myself but it's hard to tell you know it's two different vibes so i hope that the switch doesn't
29:12come back to bite me in the butt hello hello hello bravo that was a show worthy of fire congrats to all

31:35actually work out in this because of her little shorts under oh surprise surprise yay and she can
31:41throw on a pump or a heel and go straight to the weekend which that was the challenge thank you so much
31:47i would wear that jacket to the gym but then i'd also wear it to dinner that night with a pair of jeans
31:52i don't i i'm into you i don't know how else i can say it i mean i was into all of it i like
31:57your look too i like her vibe it stands out it's memorable to me she's badass and flirty at the same

32:10love the work that you did on this top i think it's really beautiful i love all the detail that you
32:18made with the pockets correct and i love the fact that you considered an option she can be reserved
32:26with the turtleneck and she can be super sexy without it yep i mean i like that fabric as you can see
32:33the detail of the skirt is really cool and it's a flattering waistband waistbands can go very unflattering

32:48say this you have done something that a lot of people cannot do and that is to shut me up wow i was
32:58so tough on you on the runway and you were in the winning group and i was still tough on you on the

33:08versatile i think that a girl could really work out with this yeah really work out with it and then
33:14wear it out on the weekend i would wear those pants in a heartbeat the pan turns into a straight leg
33:20pant she could wear it like this i mean she could open up a little well done on that fabulous chic
33:28and effortless what i also love is the detail the fact that you thought about the zipper on the side can
33:35you turn around and that little pocket with that little black detail those details all matter yeah

36:40i mean this is this is unwearable i also don't understand this girl i think the work that you've
