00:00Sri Lanka's former president, Ranil Vikramasinghe, was hospitalized on Saturday, a day after his
00:08arrest over allegations of misusing public funds while in office.
00:12The 76-year-old, who led the country during its worst economic crisis, was arrested and
00:17taken into custody on Friday.
00:19On Saturday, he was admitted to the emergency care unit of Colombo National Hospital with
00:24complications related to dehydration, diabetes and high blood pressure.
00:29He was later transferred to the intensive care unit, where his condition was reported as
00:34stable.
00:35Vikramasinghe, a six-time prime minister who lost the presidency last year, had been investigated
00:40over a visit he made to Britain to attend a special graduation lunch, to celebrate his
00:45wife's honorary professorship at a university there.
