00:00that they could do in chicago and certainly not something they could do in new york city they
00:03can't go in there and federalize chicago police department or nypd that's not going to happen so
00:09that sort of thing that we saw in washington dc won't happen but the sort of thing more akin to
00:14what we saw in los angeles and uh you know there's a lot of criticism of what was in there but i
00:20didn't see anything done in los angeles or california where they were supporting ice
00:25that was a violation of posse coitatus um but they did go out there on the streets and uh i will say
00:31this when national guard comes in or federal troops come in as a security role it does tend to uh dampen
00:40the uh potential for violence or or anything else that they're going to run into there and and i just
00:46want to say if i could one thing real quick there's been a lot of criticism i've heard that the national
00:51guard isn't trained in law enforcement and and yes they're not police officers they're not sworn
00:57police officers however they get a lot of training they get training on dealing with civil disturbance
01:04dealing with civilians uh they are law enforcement in many cases on military bases they can be and with
01:12national guard you may find a large percentage 10 20 30 percent of them are actually law enforcement
01:18or first responders in their civilian lives so um they get a lot of training they they you know this
01:24idea that somehow they they come from some other place and don't understand the world of law enforcement
01:30that's just not true i've heard that many times i've heard a number of people saying that
01:35but i would say you need to go back and look at the training they get and what those units do it's in
01:39their mission scope that fact especially with national guard dealing with civil authorities is very much
01:46something they train for and they do on a regular basis al kemfer is the host of the strap podcast

01:59and uh and i'm getting ready to do another one coming up but uh we did uh really focus more on the uh
02:05international side and and was looking really really kind of went and uh delved in deep with what's
02:12happening with uh russia ukraine and all the factors that are going into that the whole peace process
02:19the prospect for peace and uh kind of a kind of a deep dive dove into some things that that just uh
02:26um that you know you can touch on but we don't we don't have time to dive in quite that much

03:21on us a little bit no doubt a lot of people are streaming this exact feed right now it's been an
03:26intermittent eruption um kilauea is not uh we're not seeing this amount of lava flowing out of
03:34kilauea i should say on the daily what we've been seeing is more every week or two we've been seeing
03:40what they have termed episodes the usgs has said that there's been dozens of episodes in the most
03:48recent history of kilauea um i'm gonna step away it's too bad that it keeps buffering on us let's go

04:28other top stories we've of course been tracking the latest on the trump administration something
04:34that hal and i were just discussing is ice um not only have there been lots of protests around the
04:42country relating to immigration enforcement operations but in the background of all that
04:48the administration also ramping up efforts to recruit and train people to join ice fox's doug
04:54luzader with this piece the president says this big crackdown on crime here in washington is already
05:02paying dividends arrests are up and crime he says is way down hello it's a healthy attractive looking
05:10group of people it may not have been the ride along that he first talked about but president trump
05:16ventured into a gathering of hundreds of national guard troops police officers and federal agents
05:21to thank them for what he calls a successful intervention in the nation's capital i've never received
05:27so many phone calls thanking me for what we've done in washington d.c from people that haven't gone to a
05:33restaurant in literally in four years we want ice out of dc earlier in the day there were protests
05:42against the intervention which has included stepped up immigration enforcement we are not criminals and we
05:48don't deserve to be treated like we are criminals and dc's mayor said crime was falling already i think up
05:57before the federal surge more than 25 percent down last year more than 35 percent down on i think all
06:05categories of violent crime and the president responded to those claims early this morning on truth social
06:12mayor muriel bowser must immediately stop giving false and highly inaccurate crime figures he wrote or
06:18bad things will happen including a complete and total federal takeover of the city and the president
06:25also said dc could be just the start we're not playing games we're going to make it safe and we're
06:30going to then go on to other places but because of dc's unique status the president has far more
06:37authority and flexibility here than he would have in other cities around the country in washington doug
06:44luzader fox news okay i am getting a little more information about kilauea's eruption by the way these
06:51are live vantage points it is intermittently pausing on us thankfully we just got this second feed in
06:57it looks like it's a little bit more stable uh i'm reading from the associated press they say
07:03hawaii's kilauea volcano has resumed for its 31st episode so i was curious which episode in the
07:10eruption timeline this was so this is the 31st time we've seen kilauea spit lava like this amazing
07:18stuff to see um also what's incredible about these images by the way is while these episodes have
07:24been happening it's been taking place in a part of hawaii volcano volcano's national park that is not
07:30an imminent threat to any life or property so we can enjoy these pretty images and know that it's not
