Rep. James Comer (R-KY) discusses the testimony of Ian Sams.
Transcript
00:00That was probably the most informative transcribed interview slash deposition we've had thus far.
00:09I'll give Mr. Sam's credit. He answered our questions.
00:13And I think one of the most shocking things to me is, and you'll have to remember,
00:19because many of you quoted every word he said religiously throughout his entire tenure as the White House spokesperson,
00:26he communicated with Joe Biden two times.
00:31He saw Joe Biden and talked to Joe Biden two times the entire stint as a White House spokesperson.
00:37But yet he would every day tweet and issue statements from the podium of the White House,
00:46combating everything that we were doing in the Oversight Committee with respect to the investigation,
00:51combating the Hur report, saying he didn't know it.
00:54In fact, Robert Hurst spent more time with Joe Biden than Ian Samms.
00:59Think about that.
01:00Robert Hurst spent significantly more time with Joe Biden than Ian Samms did.
01:08So when we would ask questions, well, you said this.
01:14Did Joe Biden tell you that?
01:16Well, you know, I got it from the president.
01:19Did Joe Biden tell you this?
01:22Did Joe Biden send you an email himself?
01:23Well, no, well, no.
01:25So it raises serious concerns and serious questions about who was calling the shots in the White House.
01:30If the White House spokesperson is being shielded from the president of the United States,
01:38who was operating the Oval Office?
01:42I mean, this is what this whole investigation is about.
01:45That auto pen was used excessively.
01:48And yet no one can say for certain that Joe Biden was given the orders to use the auto pen.
02:01And if you're using the auto pen to sign one document and Joe Biden's in the White House,
02:0575 percent of the time when the document's used, why not have Joe Biden sign the document right there?
02:10Why have to go through all the bureaucracy of using the auto pen?
02:14I mean, this was a huge interview today, and I think it contradicts everything that the former Biden people are saying with respect to the president's mental fitness.
02:28There were very few people that were around Joe Biden, especially at the end.
02:37And that's when the majority of the pardons and executive orders were signed with that auto pen.
02:43I mean, I can't say this enough.
02:46I want to say this one more time so everyone understands.
02:49Ian Sams, who was the White House spokesperson for a significant amount of Joe Biden's time as president,
02:59interacted with him two times.
03:02Two times.
03:03So, you know, we're going to continue to bring people in.
03:09And again, this this person, Ian Sams, is the one that would would counter everything.
03:16Robert Herr or any time anyone would suggest that Joe Biden wasn't mentally fit, he would say, no, he's at the top of his game.
03:22Every time he tweeted out there several times, he gave interviews on MSNBC.
03:25Every time I've interacted with the president, he was sharp.
03:28He asked great questions in their under oath.
03:33He interacted with president two times the entire time, the entire time he worked in the White House.
03:40That's astonishing.
03:41Any questions?
