00:00My name is Katie Quinn and I'm Principal and Chief Exec at City of Portsmouth College.
00:05And how do this year's results compare with the previous years?
00:09So this year we have seen an improvement in our GCSE grade 4 and above, which is fantastic.
00:16But actually what's really important for a lot of the students that come here to re-sit GCSE Maths and English
00:22is actually just that they're making progress from their starting point
00:26and we're really pleased to say that that has also a big improvement on last year.
00:31Did the pandemic change the way the school approaches teaching and learning long term?
00:36I think, to be honest, actually we've moved on.
00:42So we do see a lot of students, more students now than in the past that perhaps struggle more with learning.
00:50But we have lots of strategies to support them
00:53and try to make it as enjoyable and fun for them as we possibly can.
00:58And in some ways, pandemic is in the past and we've got to look forward and look to the future.
01:03How is the school preparing students for the transition to...
01:06College.
01:07College.
01:07How is the college, yes, preparing students for this transition to A-levels,
01:12vocational courses or apprenticeships?
01:15Well, because we're a college, most of them are already studying their level,
01:22their main vocational or academic programme.
01:25So they've already done that transition.
01:28But we do a huge amount of work with schools in year 10 and in year 11
01:32to help students get ready for coming into college.
01:35College.
01:36Thank you very much.
01:37Okay, you've got some...
