00:04Definitely the most aggro character that I've gotten to write is Battle Beast.

00:08Battle Beast has pretty much one thing on his mind, it's battle.

00:11I will savor this, and if this conflict brings about the end of my life,

00:16I will savor it all the more.

00:22Battle Beast is brutal.

00:23He's just going in, and it's your job to stop him from getting there first,

00:26or keep him away.

00:27I definitely think his warrior persona is emphasized in his style.

00:32He's like, honest. He's coming right at you,

00:34and he's coming at you with everything he's got.

00:37He thinks he's above every other character,

00:39so we've tried to build that into his animation.

00:42So he starts off pretty stoic in his normal attacks,

00:45and as it escalates, he gets more brutal.

00:48We are not there!

00:49Playing as Battle Beast will definitely satisfy your bloodlust.

00:52In general, his gameplay is just very gory.

00:57He's all about these fights, but he's not brainless,

01:00and he showcased a lot in the Machine Head penthouse fight.

01:03He showed strategies, anticipated someone jumping in.

01:08And I think Battle Beast sometimes is, like, disappointed he's won if the battle wasn't good enough.

01:14This battle is beneath me.

01:16There is no honor in killing insects.

01:22His movesets, it's much more aggressive to just emphasize just how strong he is.

01:28Battle Beast is unique in that he's got a big weapon.

01:32Beast can hit people from really far away,

01:34and he's got really good attacks for, like, approaching from the air.

01:36His air down heavy is quite strong.

01:38I think the best move for Battle Beast is definitely his air down heavy.

01:42It basically takes his mace and just clobbers people with it.

01:45Crazy range, and it's got this huge hitbox.

01:48It bounces people off the floor.

01:49Battle Beast is almost reckless with the way he throws himself into combat,

01:54and we felt the best way to express that in combat design

01:58was to give him lots of armor.

02:01You take damage when you get hit, but you will keep attacking.

02:04So he can actually take a hit as he's moving forward

02:07in order to follow it up with something bigger.

02:09So a lot of his moves, he can just plow through the opponent.

02:12He doesn't have a lot of air mobility,

02:14so he's really a grounded character for the most part,

02:16but he's got a really incredible ground dash.

02:18One moment that we really wanted to capture

02:20is when he was beating Mark into the ground in the Machine Head fight.

02:23So we have elements of that in one of his supers

02:25where he's slamming his mace down,

02:28and then we also have built that into his ult.

02:31Too weak to live!

02:34The Blood Rain moment at the end

02:47where he, like, licks his lips,

02:48and we thought that was a great character moment.

02:54If you want to put him in the back

02:55to make use of his really good assist,

02:57if you want to keep him as a last line of defense,

02:59put him right up front and just let him leave the charge.

03:01You can take hits with armor,

03:03you can make big reads,

03:05you can try to enforce your will on the opponent.

03:08If I'm trying to pair up someone with Battle Beast,

03:10I want someone who has more aerial coverage.

03:13So anyone who has, like, an air dash.

03:15So he's slower, so he hits heavier,

03:17and so there's advantage to that.

03:18Make use of that big ol' weapon.

03:20He's one of our strongest characters,

03:22and he feels great when you're playing him.
