00:00Lawmakers turn up the heat as new revelations surface.
00:03From allegations of corruption and flood control projects to questions on online gambling regulation,
00:08government agencies face mounting scrutiny.
00:10Billions of pesos and public trust hang in the balance, as Armele Les Moras reports.
00:17Amid calls to impose a total ban on online gambling,
00:21the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation or PACOR believes it is better to just strictly regulate it rather than completely eradicating it.
00:29According to PACOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tenco,
00:32Filipinos will be at greater risk if the government enacts a total ban,
00:36as some businessmen will definitely keep finding ways to continue their operations.
00:41What's worse, the government's revenue will surely decrease.
01:10PACOR admits that the number of Filipinos addicted to online gambling has exponentially increased.
01:15From P49 billion pesos in 2024, PACOR's revenue from online gambling is expected to exceed to around P60 billion pesos.
01:23The government could have earned even more if all operators were legal.
01:28However, according to PACOR's records,
01:30only about 40% of these operations are registered with the government,
01:34while over 60% are operating illegally.
01:36In response, PACOR has intensified its cooperation with the DICT, CICC, BNP, NBI, and even the BSP to respond to the issue.
01:46And it has already yielded positive results recently.
02:14sa integration with online gaming companies.
02:20In addition, PACOR emphasized that they have already taken steps to help our countrymen addicted to gambling.
02:26They are scheduled to launch 24x7 hotlines soon.
02:29They will also tie up with several software companies to roll out AI-powered tools in the coming months.
03:01malaki na ang deposit mo compared to your average deposit, then automatically your account will be suspended and reviewed.
03:12As one of the government's income-generating agencies, PACOR appeared before the House of Representatives
03:17to participate in the deliberations on the proposed 2026 national budget.
