00:00Hello, I'm Greg Wright of the Yorkshire Post. UK inflation arose by more than expected in July
00:06as demand for summer travel pushed up airfares and food prices continued to climb.
00:14CPI inflation increased to 3.8% in July from 3.6% in June, according to the ONS.
00:22Most economists have been forecasting inflation to rise to 3.7%.
00:27It means the headline rate remained at the highest level since January 2024 when it hit 4%.
00:35The ONS said the school summer holidays helped to bump up travel costs last month
00:41which helped drive up inflation across the UK.
